This is espetacular Emily. Great job. 👏🏻👏🏻
A personal creative project!
My senior thesis was all about voting and this year marks 100 years since women won the right to vote!
I had to create three mediums for my thesis and because of the current predicament I actually had time to create this fourth piece which I thought was a really nice way to celebrate us women!
All illustrations are made from one line! 😅

This is lovely! Brush strokes and shadows on the blue jeans are looking great.
awesome work
Here’s another image I wanted to paint.
Instead of focusing on warm and cool colors I really wanted to focus on a unified texture in this painting.

I watched the video about Mary Heilmann.
Very interesting style. I loved the black painting with two white lines across it.
One thing she said that got me, is how there’s always a story behind her artwork. This is one thing I struggled with in Graphic Design classes. My professor always wanted us to explain why we put a line here, or a dot there… what’s the story behind your art? What did you have in mind when you created this etc.? And I really struggled because sometimes I created something without any specific thinking behind it, just out of a flow of creativity. I didn’t always have an explanation.
Mary Heilmann started off her artistic career with pottery, then moved to painting but you can see how there’s connection, an inspiration from pottery. She paints the sides of the canvas, she said she considered it first an object than a painting. Pretty cool. ☺️

Good job 👏🏻 looking great 😊
My painting so far
I really wanted to explore different textures in this one and I loved how the sky and clouds came out along with the trees! I think going forward I’m going to add more layers of warm and cool colors. My goal for it was that the two colors would be in a contrasting relationships with one another

Hi all :D
So, I'm almost done with my painting. I'm not sure what color to paint the background.
I loved doing this painting, not sure if I started it correctly because obviously I don't have the technique, but little by little I started getting the hang of it. The hardest part for me was blending the paint to transition from the dark purples to the yellow.
Hope y'all like it.

Discussion Questions 2
1. What are some ways in which we might find an image? What are the limitations of these ways?
>We can find images both through the internet or, on occasion, in person. The limitations of finding something online is that it can be distorted or brought down to a lower quality as well as not giving the full experience of the image itself.
2. How is ‘Google image search’ limiting? (Is my google search the same as yours? Why why not?)
>Google image search is limiting because it shows results based on relevance but not necessarily what you’re looking for most of the time. It takes into account certain key words but some of them may be ignored by this relevance unless you put quotations around the word. It could be that two people could search for the same thing but with different wordings and doing so can bring up different results.
3. How might we search deeper for images that are less repeated, rare, unique, lost….?
>Typically when I want to search deeper for images I get more specific with the wording. For example, I could search up “puppy” and find millions of images of puppies but a small portion of them could be what I actually want. If I instead search up “husky puppy” or “shiba inu puppy” I’m much more likely to get images of the exact breed of puppies I want to see.

These are cool images. You can use some rich dark blues for the blueberries one.
Good luck with your painting 😉
A couple of images I found interesting.
