Hi! I was wondering if while drawing do you use an refs? Where do you find good refs from?

Hey 🙂 Tbh I've been making my own for the longest while with the posable 3D Figures of Clip Studio if I feel the need for a reference. 🙃 Firstly that gives me a lot more flexibility because I can choose my own poses and also experiment with the camera angle to get more interesting perspectives (or fill out the canvas space better) even before I make the first brush stroke ✍🔥 Secondly I don't have to worry about stuff looking too similar to the ref if it was a picture or a frame from a video. Often times you can just recognise when someone was inspired by a more famous studio because they are known for certain camera angles or "furniture" 😆 I like to look at pictures or videos for anatomy refs though. As in, how do bodies, feet, hands, etc look when they move 💪🦵🖖 (Honestly I mostly find them by googling body parts and drawing reference. But I am careful to never copy them. I just look at them to learn how things work 😉✨ Or if they are from an artist that offers downloadable references I also buy them) But here's an example of my own ref for a more complex pose that I made for myself in CSP 👇

The sound of the raven-haired boy’s palm on the wall over his head made Hinata smile shyly.

“Come on, now, put them up already.” Kageyama had a bit of his usual pout on his face as Hinata continued to hesitate.

He couldn’t help feeling a little happy; it was rare that he could be eye level with the tall setter. Then again, being stuck on his knees on a square table wasn’t the most traditional way of doing so.

He gave the faintest squeak when Tobio hooked a finger under the loose collar he wore. (Maybe they should have a talk about staking the whole dominant role on a coin flip every time they did this; Kageyama seemed to be winning a lot lately.)

They’d won. Of course they’d won, but admittedly, it was a tough practice match that kept everyone on their toes, plus their opponents were a little less-than-friendly. The Karasuno team can’t help but be buzzed over their victory.
