Final Reflection
This first semester brought me a lot of challenges, adjusting as a freshman in college, learning how to be fully independent, and many more. ARTS102 also challenged me, but in a great way, the class pushed me to learn and adapt to challenges that I have never interacted with before, physically or digitally. Yes, there were many challenges, but the rewarding feeling after beating those challenges was great. The class put me in situations that I have never been in before when it comes to graphic design and it felt really good to produce a product that I was more than happy with most of times. I would like to that Mr. Machado for being a great instructor and helping me to further learn Adobe and all of the new strategies and techniques that I have never even heard of before.

Recently in class we have worked on Project 5; Syntax and Semantics. This projects allowed us to choose any product with different variations of it and create a light description about the composition of the products. I decided to choose Nike Jordan 1s because of how many different color ways and styles there are. Over the years, there have been around 30 different color ways of Jordans, leaving me with plenty of ones to choose from. The goal of the project was to give a general description and how we feel about the items, being where the words "Syntax" and "Connotations" come from. Giving a more general description about the items was someone difficult to me because I have never tried to describe something as simply as I needed to in this project. On the other hand, the project did allow me to learn a lot about new ways of description and how it can help me in the future.

This week we have continued on our logos project that is based off of two characters from a movie or TV series. I chose Back to the Future and my characters are Marty McFly. These characters have so many different items to represent them which makes the project so much fun. The information covered in the readings today related to me a lot because I have struggled with transferring my files and it keeping the same consistent quality. I have been trying to improve this issue by changing the format of my downloads and making sure I am saving my files properly. Just like the book says, images can change shape, color, tint, and many more properties that can effect the visuals of the image.

Blog #4
Pics won't upload*
This week during our classes, we began to work on our fourth project of the semester, which consisted of making logos for fictional characters. For my project I chose Back to the Future, with the characters being Marty McFly and Doc Brown. I have always loved the Back to the Future films so it was a no brainer for me to pick thee two characters with countless notable items in their persona. I really enjoy being able to use the words I read from the chapters and apply it to my work, whether it be literal or just mental, there is always something extremely beneficial for me in these chapters. It gives a great outlook and ideas that I could not have thought of on my own.

Project 3
For project 3 in class, we were tasked with creating a "political" post that incentivized the people to use their vote. We selected a quote from our choices and began to create an image that meshed well with the quote. Starting with sketches, this was not the easiest for me because I am not great a drawing, I was better at visualizing the work in my head opposed to drawing it on paper. This led to a challenging start for me because I couldn't break down my ideas piece by piece. One of the key elements we were supposed to incorporate as typography, which was what was covered in the chapters this week as well. The goal was to incorporate the quote I had into the art, without making the quote stick out and seem out of place. This proved to be a challenge for me due to the size of my quote and the amount of words I had to transform into a idea of mine,

ART102 Reflection and Chapters
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This week in ART210 we worked on using and transforming letters to create abstract art, the catch was that we weren't supposed to change the structure of the letters (warping, skewing, etc.). I did not have the easiest time with this project because I misunderstood the prompt and I have never done anything like this before. Though I did not do as good as would have liked, this was a great learning experience for me. I really enjoyed the chapters this week because I felt a connection with the words on the pages. In chapter 3 I connected with the book when they talked about their experiences. This related to me because I am in an internship with a sports media company and talking to all the other interns and seeing their background and where they are coming from and receiving their feedback is awesome. Also in the chapters it talked about logos and how you need meaning behind the logos. This I am also familiar with because I have done some logos, the words provided in the text were very knowledgeable and helped my outlook on that side of design. I am looking forward to using the information I have learned and putting into the upcoming projects this semester

Artboard Process
Throughout the process of this project, I struggled with finding something that I wanted to represent in my artboard. I decided to take it the personal way and do something in my past that I am truly passionate about. Mental heath is a huge deal in the world and it needs to continue to be highlighted.
In the drafting process, I was having a difficult time finding a generated image that could properly match my memoirs. This led to me sketching out what I saw in my brain and translate it to paper. This is when I found the idea of a brain with scattered lines throughout the image. I wanted the image to display the invisible struggles that are in mental health, the parts that people cant see, and I feel this image displays it perfectly with the memoir of, " Tangled in thoughts, caught in negativity".
The other memoir was also about mental health, but this image and memoir being more inspiring and happy, being, "Doing what I, thought was impossible". I wanted this image to be encouraging and showing that you can beat the odds and overcome what seems to be impossible at some points. The man on the mountain peak is a great way to display the memoir because of how rare it is to conquer a huge mountain and get to the peak of the mountain and how rewarding it is to finally get there.
The whole process of the artboard was a great way for me to think deeper into art and graphic design and to really personalize my work to myself instead of clients in the past.
