TLDR; I’m very happy with the apology, but it won’t undo the damage that’s been done.

Good that they addressed it. Good that they’ll still post the content to YouTube. Good that they’re keeping all their past content on YouTube. I’m very happy that they backtracked and listened to the feedback of their audience. But it doesn’t change the fact that you have lost the trust of your fan base. Your response was too late. You’ve lost our trust. This should’ve never happened in the first place. You should never have taken on as many employees as you did and how many large scale projects that you have. You say you didn’t think about how this would impact us and that’s obvious. We will never be able to look at you guys the same way.

What’s really upsetting me about the Watcher situation is the way that they aren’t listening to their fans and clearly have no idea of what we actually want. The overwhelming majority of comments on their Twitter, Instagram and YouTube posts about the paywall are telling them not to! Everyone is so unhappy about this and are telling them that it’s unaffordable.

Another point they aren’t listening about is the fact that we don’t want big, elaborate and expensive productions. We fell in love with them when they were just blue and yellow text on a screen wheezing. We just want that back. We don’t want Steven Lin flying around the world eating expensive food. And we are BLATANTLY saying so! WE DONT CARE ABOUT THAT! There’s a reason the most popular series’ on the channel are Puppet History, Ghost Files and Too Many Spirits.

When a company built by the views and approval of their fans takes advantage of the support they’ve gotten, the fans that built the company stop supporting them. And that’s exactly what’s happening. WATCHER NEEDS TO LISTEN. They’re a sinking ship at this point and they need to act if they want any hope of saving it.
