Hey Lavender,
That’s absolutely okay to admit, but I can understand the trepidation. I’m kind of lucky I guess, I’ve pretty much always known I likes girls so I’ve always been kinda out and proud about it, but everyone comes to things in different points in their life, right? And you’ve got to start somewhere! Trying to embrace it is the most important thing!
I do like a quiet space occasionally, but I do tend to be kind of extroverted, so I like a lot of noise too. Quiet spaces are good to think, though. If I’m working on something, or sometimes if I need a little creativity. I’ve noticed the lake really early in the morning seems to be nice here.
That does sound lovely! I kinda miss having a garden. Do you do a lot of gardening? Maybe you can teach me how to keep a plant alive for longer than five minutes

Hey Iguana,
I don’t think it’s cliche at all, that song slaps! Her Teenage Dream era was unmatched. So many feel good songs, I still lose my mind if I hear Last Friday Night. I love a song that gets people up and dancing! Honestly I don’t think there’s any such thing as being a bad dancer lol, as long as you’re having fun!
Ooh that is a good question. I have two go-tos: Shania Twain’s Man! I Feel Like A Woman and Carrie Underwood’s Before He Cheats. I don’t know why those two honestly, there’s just something about them that gets me super motivated! And I do need to be motivated to do housework lol.
~ Whimsy
Hi Whimsy,
Oh my goodness — I know this is cliche, but probably “Firework” by Katy Perry. I just think it’s such a fun song. I don’t really like much of Katy Perry’s post-Teenage Dream stuff, but that album is probably one of my favorites. And Firework just makes me feel happy! And like dancing, which is saying something because I don’t think I’m a very good dancer and I get very self-conscious about it, but when she sings about letting it shine, well, I just have to, don’t I?
And I’m going to ask you the same question but add another — what song do you listen to when you’re doing housework and need motivation? I think then my answer is “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift.
Best,
Iguana

Hey Dazzle,
I have! I love the aquarium. I could sit in front of the jellyfish tank all day. I wonder that as well, especially after some of those documentaries and stuff. I guess the little fish probably don’t mind it. Must be nice to be in a tank safe from the big fish that try to eat you!
Yeah, I’ve definitely got that vibe though. It’s really nice! It’s cute that these little small towns still exist, yknow? I guess swynlake is special in more ways than one! Did you move into town from somewhere else?
~ whimsy
Whimsy,
Bubbles do sound good to me! But I don't have a fish, so I don't know. Have you ever been to an aquarium? They look so fun! Though, I do wonder if the fish are sad...
Anyway, your apartment sounds nice and friendly! I love Swynlake for that reason. Everyone knows everyone and it just feels like one big family if you ask me!

Hey Gale,
No I totally get that! They say opposites attract but I never really know if that’s true lol. Like sure maybe you want someone laid back to help you relax if you’re a hard working kind of person, but surely that gets frustrating if you’re not both putting the same effort in?
Thank you though! And honestly I love talking about it too, it’s a big goal of mine so I always get really excited when I think about it, and I’m definitely the kind of person who goes on and on about stuff when I get excited about it. That’s so true though! I’m lucky at least that I love the job that I have right now, too. So even if it takes a little while I know I’m set for the meantime.
What do you like doing outside of work? Any fun and/or bizarre hobbies I should know about?

Hey Birk,
If you don’t have a cursed image that you know should never go on Instagram but that you kind of love, did you even really go? That would be me about the gift shop, though. I’ve gotta buy myself a little trinket everywhere I go!
I get that. I know that self confidence can be tricky for some people and I’m never mad about being someone’s personal cheerleader, but if people don’t respond to it… what can you do I guess. Luckily for you though I have way more confidence than I possibly should. I like to think I make it work, though. There’s a difference between confidence and cocky, right?

Very glad that you’re entertained and not wondering who the hell you’ve been paired up with haha, because I appreciate all of that is kind of a lot. I do have a picture of me and my seal soulmate (I’m thinking of getting it miniaturised and put into a locket), and as for why Fred, first of all yes because of the impeccable fashion sense, but also because I love a sweet, strong himbo who tries his best for his friends. I do also kind of love mysteries though, and I’m also in love with Daphne, so we’d have a lot in common!
Okay but I’m sooo jealous of girls with natural long hair. I don’t know what it is but you guys are ethereal. Also the commitment to it? Big respect for that.
That kiss sound like the plot to a super sweet YA movie! And hey, why can’t Right Round by Flo Rida be romantic? Romance is what you make of it!
I’m not a Star Wars person either but as a person who grew up with brothers who liked Star Wars… I get it. I’d have some questions for her too I think. Women can always learn a lot from each other, right? Even if one of them is fictional, cause fictional or otherwise, I think she’d have a lot to say. Sucks that women have to have those conversations in the first place — like why can’t we just be allowed to live our lives and enjoy ourselves? But it’d be an enlightening talk regardless.
Sealed with a kiss!! I’m so mad I didn’t think of that.

Hey Dazzle,
He made a lot of bubbles, which might be thank you? I’m still decoding possible fish-language, but I’m going to assume he’s grateful.
I get that though! Those videos of professional chefs chopping really because scare the life out of me. I’m sure you’ll get more confident the more you practise though!
It’s pretty good as it happens, I’m in an apartment block now so it’s like it’s own little neighbourhood. Still getting to know the building and the people and stuff, but so far everyone has been lovely! I guess small towns are just like that, they always seem to have that friendly mentality to them.
~ Whimsy
Whimsy,
Oh good! Let me know what he says. :)
I like cooking a lot! I am just not super great at it yet. Knives are scary, lol. But it's soo good when you make food for yourself! I always feel super proud of myself.
Aw, that is nice! What about your neighborhood now? I hope it's nice!

Hey Gale,
I can imagine the shift is tough, suddenly realising you have all that responsibility has gotta be a big change. It sounds like you know your stuff though! And you’ve gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette, so I guess mistakes are gonna happen. Still, just going off how things sound, it seems like things are going well!
I am kinda easygoing but I worry that’ll be my downfall eventually lol. Sometimes a bit of panic is good for you, I guess? Or at least it helps you take things more seriously. I can be kind of bad at that, and taking responsibility, so that’s my big thing to work on before I can take any big steps, I think.
It was super helpful though! And sorry, I didn’t meant to turn this into some kind of business mentoring session haha, though by the sounds of things you’d be a good one!

Hey Birk,
I mean, fair enough. I was kind of the same honestly. I like learning, just I like learning practical things! Uni was more of a means to an end more than anything else. A really expensive one too.
Whether it worked out or not, that does sound fun! Spontaneous trip to see the loch ness monster seems like a fun date night. Did you at least get some kind of novelty t-shirt or key chain or something for your troubles?
I know! Totally missed out on my fifteen minutes of fame. I honestly can’t remember the title, I think it was like Strings of Love or Strings of Fate or something. Definitely strings involved. It’s honestly not a bad movie, I just have to pause it when it gets to my scene to make sure everyone appreciates my incredible acting talent (of which I have none, so it’s not paused for very long lol). I try to save that for a few dates in, though. Don’t wanna seem too big headed, yknow? Or bigger headed than I already am anyways

Hey Iguana,
That feels like a compliment so I'm gonna take it! Maybe I'll look into lessons. There's gotta be at least one other person who plays the harp in Swynlake, right? Stranger things have happened, or so I'm told.
Girl-power pop anthems are a favourite of mine too, I am also incapable of saying no to a bit of Carly Rae. My music tastes are kind of all over the place though, I love a bit of pop, R&B, rock music, even country music! And classical if I'm feeling fancy. It all just depends on my mood, I'm one of those people who has like a billion playlists. Important question though: what's the song you always ask the DJ to play on a night out?
~ Whimsy
Hi Whimsy,
Is it weird of me to say that a harp sounds like it totally suits you? I know we only know each other through these emails, but you strike me as someone who would just look perfectly at home strumming a harp. Angel wings not included.
What sort of music do you like? I think my taste is mostly girl-power pop anthems, which I know isn’t as sophisticated as cello music, but well, it’s what gets me happy and smiling when I go on my walks or do my chores. Don’t get me wrong — I do enjoy classical, particularly when I’m working or have to concentrate on something. But who am I to deny Carly Rae Jepsen?
Best,
Iguana

Hey Dazzle,
I'll tell him you said so! I don't know if fish get self esteem issues but he's constantly looking at his own reflection in the glass of the tank, so I'll pass on the compliment just in case.
I loooove ice cream for breakfast. Any sweets for breakfast, actually. I'm not the best cook either though, mostly because I'm lazy. I don't want to spend time chopping! And who can be bothered to stand over a pan stirring something for half an hour?
That sounds so sweet! The neighbourhood I lived in growing up was like that too. It's nice when you get along with everyone around you and you can have people over.
~ Whimsy
Whimsy,
OH MY GOSH!!!!!! He's so cute!!! I LOVE HIM!! He is the perfect shape and size!!
Maybe I should get a personal chef. I am not a very good cook, haha. Though, I do really love food! Have you ever had ice cream for breakfast? It's my favorite.
I like answering the door too. It's fun. My neighborhood is super nice and everyone is always knocking on each other's doors. It's a fun little surprise every time!

Hey Birk,
Bad decisions with uni friends are still good stories. Many would argue that make bad decisions and learning life lessons is more important than anything else you actually learn at uni. What's the best bad decision you made? Or I guess, which bad decision ended up actually being the most fun?
And honestly it was just right place right time kinda thing. A combination of my winning smile, darling features, and a well timed holiday to India. I picked up the choreography pretty well though, you'd never know I was a list minute hire. Didn't get much recognition for it, though. I don't even have an IMDB page or anything.

It definitely makes sense. So weird when you picture a life for yourself when you're younger and as you get older you realise none of that stuff is actually what you wanted at all. And then half the time, if you're me, you don't actually know what you want instead. Which is the worst part in my opinion, but at least we've got plenty of time to figure it out! Must be hard not knowing what you want if you're a fruit fly or something. They only get like a month to figure things out, at least we get a a while.
And here I was trying to be mysterious… just kidding. Okay, rapid fire some of the newer prompts:
I think my most attractive feature is, and not to sound like big headed or weird or anything, but it's my butt. She looks good in anything! I was definitely blessed by some higher power, but I also have a very good squat routine.
As for the best kiss of my life… I like to think I haven't peaked quite yet, but I did once kiss a seal. At the zoo, not just like out in the wild. I still dream about her…
And if I could have coffee with any fictional character it would be Fred Jones, of Scooby Doo fame. I just think we would vibe so well, it'd be a good time! And then maybe he'd let me join the time and I could become a meddling kid taking down rich old white men in scary costumes…

Hey Iguana,
I'm officially keeping a tally. Gonna see what record I can set for myself.
I would be so obsessed with a Weird Al style rock band. Or Silly Al style instead of Weird, if that's the vibe we're going for. Honestly, Silly Al isn't a terrible bandname either. And I bet songs about your dog would go so hard! Plus, think of how cute the album covers would be.
I think cello would be fun! I've always wanted to play something weirdly niche, which I guess the cello sort of falls into? I just think it'd be fun to play an instrument not many people play. Not to sound totally strange, but I think I'd like to learn to play the harp. I'm tempted to make some kind of parallel about harps and angels and myself, or alternatively a joke about biblically accurate angels, but to be honest I can't think of a way to tie it all together, so I'll let you read between the lines.
I've never heard that about cello players, but I do want to know if your friend is right or not. I'm probably going to spend the next hour googling famous cello players… I'll report back with my findings.
~ Whimsy
Hi Whimsy,
Spinch! Oh that’s so fun to say out loud! You’ve put a smile to my face again.
Well, if we’re going with the silly words, I think I might do a pun of some sorts. Not sure what. I’m not too funny or creative enough to come up with something. But I think my hypothetical band would play covers of popular songs, but also change the lyrics a little. I guess like Weird Al, but not like Weird Al. Less weird. Maybe sillier. I’d write songs about my dog, actually. That’s the silliest thing I can think of.
If you could play any instrument, what would it be? I’ve always thought violin was particularly refined and elegant. Or cello! Someone once told me that cello players were always the most beautiful. I don’t know if I believe them. I haven’t met enough cello players.
Best,
Iguana

Hey Gale,
I totally get that. It's good to have people around you who inspire you! And of course it helps to have friends that know what you're going through and can comiserate and give advice and stuff too. Surrounding yourself with people who help you stay committed to your goals is the best way to make sure you stick to them too, I think.
And by the sounds of things I'm coming from a similar place as you. I would be looking at either massive loans or begging some of the Swynlake Elite for investment which, honestly? I'm not above doing. Grovelling is an important skill to have!
Thank you though, really. I appreciate the encouragement! What would you say is the hardest part about it all? Got any tips for me?

Hey Iguana,
I would think so? At least I haven't seen a cataclysmic bike event in Swynlake so far but then again I haven't been here as long as some people, so I might be unaware of the Great Bike Debacle of 2005, or something along those lines.
As for the band thing I don't play any instruments but I have many times imagined myself in a rock band, but honestly just because I have an overactive imagination, love to put myself into scenarios. I also saw a sign at a sandwich shop once that said 'spinch' instead of 'spinach' and ever since I think if I did have a band, that would have to be the name of it. The stupider the band name the better as far as I'm concerned!
~ Whimsy
Hi Whimsy,
I think I read about too many tragic traffic accidents and then get myself all worked out. But Swynlake should be safer for biking than most places… right?
I don’t consider myself a particularly funny person, so anyone who can tell jokes — no matter how corny — is massively funny to me! I think I take a lot of things way too seriously, though, so I could use more people around me who don’t.
Speaking of not too serious stuff… I’ve been looking at this rock band prompt all morning and I’m still stumped. I don’t even think I can get over the fact I have absolutely no musical talent to even consider this question! But I’m curious if you have thoughts about it :)
Best,
Iguana

I guess that's the important thing, right? Being able to look back and be happy with the decisions you made. So maybe everyone has at least one purpose, and that purpose is just to make the right decisions for yourself… although that seems kinda selfish. Could probably lead to disaster. Forget I said anything.
But good for you for starting to make those choices! I think sometimes that's the hardest thing about being alive and in the world. There's so many decisions to make all the time, and you can have a good idea of which ones might be good and which ones might be bad, but you can't ever really know for sure.
As long as you're feeling satisfied I think that's the main thing. Just making sure that you're living the life you wanna live, rather than the life someone else has in mind for you.
