I need,,, gods that don't look like they're using superpowers. I need gods whose magic couldn't be boiled down to "pyrokinesis, mind control, transformation" for an "ALL ABILITIES COMPILATION" video on youtube. gods with abilities that make those youtubers go "okay honestly I don't know what's going on here". gods who are incomprehensible forces of nature, who change their environment by their mere presence, not by waving a hand. gods who ARE their realms, not just rulers or representations of them. gods who don't just add to the effects budget, but change the cinematography entirely when they're present DO U GET ME.

that halfway stage of oc creation when you're closing in on the design or the personality or both but the other half of the character's still a nebulous concept and they don't even have a name but now they're alive and they demand to be heard. agonizing

I am being so serious when I say: if you have the financial and time privilege to get a group of friends together and make an indie project, PLEASE do. Indie games, indie animations, indie comics etc etc
the art industries are kind of in the shitter. It’s not so much because of AI (though that doesn’t help) but because studios just aren’t hiring people and funding projects anymore. People who’ve been in the industry for decades are finding themselves struggling, and once you have a mortgage or kids it’s harder to do something as risky as making something on your own.
completing projects is hard. it takes a lot of time and effort, and most people can’t afford it. so if you CAN afford to make art, even at the risk of no financial gain, I strongly encourage you to be as resilient as you can. We’re at a point where these industries are not going to turn around by themselves, and waiting for jobs to open up again in order to get experience and portfolio work might not be realistic.
people have been making art and telling stories longgggg before we were getting paid for it, and people aren’t going to stop just because no one has hired them to do so.
for everyone else: support indie artists when you can!!!! That person who made that cool indie game or youtube animation or webcomic might be doing this full time! your support might be the only reason they’re able to keep doing it.
and if you have already started an indie project: you’re so brave and I’m very proud of you!!! in fact, drop a link to it in the reblogs if you want! 👇
#always an important initiative!!#support indies!#and MAKE indies because oh my god I’m having so much fun every day I get to do this

Hey if you’re over 18 and have time this summer and can make it to Fresno, CA and you wanna take a niche class in acting, animation, writing, music, visual art, design, or dance you should see if CSU Summer Arts has something you want. The deadline to apply is May 15.
I’m not getting paid to do this or anything. It’s just that one of these classes like literally changed the trajectory of my life a few years ago and they’re so fun and idk if even one person out there decides to check the program out because of this post I’ll be happy.
You can get college credit too if that sweetens the deal for you lol. I did Summer Arts to substitute for my senior intensive seminar for my English degree when I took a writing class there.
And they accept international students fyi

thinking about that post thats like. to avoid bloatware every game dev team should be required to have one guy that has to play the game on a shitty laptop. in the same spirit i think every movie and tv director should have to watch their movie/show on a small tv or laptop screen in a bright room and fix the lighting until its possible to see whats going on on the screen in those conditions

my bitch wife took my mortality in the divorce and now I am cursed to walk the earth a shambling husk forever trapped in the gray nothingness between the beauty of life and the release of death 👎👎👎👎

Yes I die and come back. Yes you've seen it happen multiple times. But it would be NICE if you acted a LITTLE surprised every time. You don't know what it's like when you're dying in someone's arms and he asks you if you'll make it back in time to play Crash Team Racing later

"We'll fix it in post" is a phrase from the film industry, but it is inherently funnier when it's spoken by a writer because--tragic--you are also the post-production team.

Some progress I’ve been striking out on the player character’s design. Turn-around, model, UVs, final? We’ve got it (plus one bonus photo below the belt)
Stay safe, have fun, live long and sleep some tonight maybe
