me at 11: Why the fuck do we have reading comprehension tests in school. Who the fuck is there who can read words but not understand what they're saying. Why are they worried that any of us would read a story where a woman wants to kill puppies and not be able to tell who is the villain of the story. You either can read or you can't, surely there's nobody out there who can understand that letters form words, but can't make sense of the intended messages of written text.

uh hey that person you just reblogged from used to be in our discord server but we had to kick them out because they admitted to watching t*m and j*rry... that show features violence and as such glorifies it.... when we confronted them all they said was "wtf its a show about a cat and a mouse"... if you dont believe me theres a whole callout post that features their name age and street address so you can go to their house and check... anyways you should unfollow them before people start thinking you like problematic media too :/ just trying to help

It is three times afaik, but the third time is not in ASIP, it's on John's blog.

"I'm not gay. He might be. I don't know. It doesn't matter." - in his post talking about Sherlock when questioned on whether he's "gone gay".

All he says to Mrs Hudson in ASIP is "Of course we'll be needing two [bedrooms]" and to Angelo he denies being Sherlock's date.

I've been wondering if there are any fics out there that have any other reason for John's internalized homophobia, besides that either one or both of his parents disapproved? Any where they were accepting of him and Harry, so there's some other reason he always claims "not gay!".

Also that got me thinking, do you know or know where to find the info, about how many times in BBC canon John actually says "not gay"? Not just denying that they're a couple but flat out saying he's not gay? It's been several years since I watched the complete series, but I have thought it was quite a few times, but I read a post that said it was only twice (to Irene and to Mrs. Hudson). Maybe it just seems like so much because I've read so many fics with that in it lol!

As for the "not gay" thing, I don't know if there's an official count, but I'm quite certain he doesn't say it as much as people THINK he does (it's become more of fanon thing than actual canon). I'm pretty sure he only says it 3 times that I can recall: I THINK in ASiP (to Hudders), again in ASiB (to Irene), and again in TEH (to Hudders again?) I think? It's been so long, LOL. But yeah, he really doesn't say it that often at all.

Like I said, it's one of those "fanon" things that people think is canon (like "John always makes the tea" when in fact he NEVER made the tea in the series, it was always Sherlock), and like YOU said, it's a popular trope in fics, hahha <3

I love using "by the way" as a segue into topics that are completely unrelated to the matters at hand. it isn't remotely by the way, quite a ways out of the way in fact. a little adventure

Whatever you do don’t think about Lestrade spending two years kicking himself for having his faith shaken so easily. Don’t think about the first case where he needs help and doesn’t even realize until after he’s sent the text that he won’t get a response anymore. Dont think about how he probably only saw John once in those two years. Don’t think about him watching Anderson descend into guilt-racked madness and lose everything, and wanting to both throttle him for causing this and comfort him because he’s damn close to that same edge. And don’t think about the moment Lestrade found out that by jumping Sherlock saved his life, too. Just don’t think about Lestrade in those two years.
