NOXIOUS WEED

“Beka!” Otabek’s heart skips a beat and he turns around so fast he feels dizzy for a second. He frantically looks around until his eyes land on Yuri standing on the other side of the room: his hair is in a dirty ponytail, he has a bleeding wound on his cheek and down his arm, but other than that he doesn’t look injured. He weaves his way through the crowd, places his hands on each side of Otabek’s face and without saying anything, kisses him on the mouth. It’s warm and safe, it’s like home, and Otabek’s hands find their way to the side of Yuri’s neck where he can feel his pulse. It’s thundering under his touch, and Otabek doesn’t realize Yuri is crying until the kiss starts to taste salty. For the first time in days Otabek smiles, feeling true joy in his chest, and places a soft kiss on Yuri’s forehead.

The first chapter of Noxious Weed will be up this Saturday, the 1st of June, on my AO3!

“Hey!” Otabek curses in his mind and halts to a stop. The soldier doesn’t have prosthetics, and he’s reaching for a gun secured on his hip. Otabek knows he has to be fast, so he closes the distance between them and with his only free hand he punches the man in the face. The man staggers backwards but doesn’t fall, and that’s when Otabek goes in with another punch. He aims for the stomach and then for the face again, and the man falls on his back with a grunt. He tries to swing at Otabek but misses, and with a few extra punches Otabek has managed to render the man unconscious, and he doesn’t stop to make sure the man is still breathing. Someone must’ve heard them fight, because there are two soldiers waiting for him in the next room. They both have guns and are aiming for Otabek, and Otabek ducks as soon as he sees the barrels of the guns. He turns his prosthetic hand into a knife and goes to cut the leg of one of the fighters despite not being able to really move the arm. He kicks the other fighter and manages to make him fall, and with a quick movement he stabs the man in the stomach. He can hear the other fighter gasp and stumble backwards, and Otabek turns to look at him. He sees fear in the fighter’s eyes. He looks at his injured friend and then back at Otabek, and his hands are shaking as he raises his gun. Otabek kicks at the barrel and the gun goes flying, hitting the wall. With a kick and a punch with his arm blade the man falls on the floor, blood pooling around him. Seeing the blood clears Otabek’s head momentarily, but only for a second: he can hear people running somewhere behind his back. He takes off, heading towards the next staircase.

no one is allowed to come at me for the action scenes in Noxious Weed, I've never written action on such a large scale as this with more than one proper action scene 😭
