think people act like kingdom hearts is a given so they 'arent in a rush' but like it's not. and we also know now, officially, that the series is working toward its ending, that there will not be another arc or saga after this one. idk, folks but we running out of kingdom hearts time and i just really think as a kh fandom, we ought to be doing more not less in the face of that.
#kingdom hearts#the series is ending in likely a handful of games#this is all we're gonna get#idk idk how other fans do but i am filled with worry im not going to make the most of it and will regret not doing more when its over

kingdom hearts is my life and every day we go further with no real news or anything I'm pretty sure I lose a piece of myself. (Xemnas voice) Soon there'll be...

remind's 5th anniversary in three days... will he bless us with another little scrap??? (plz)
not to be conspiratorial, but getting nomura to do anniversary comments for the socials when they famously never care to do these things at all for kh reeks of "we're announcing shit this year"

dunno but as a fan creator myself, like lord, the value of NEW stuff to think, draw, gif, edit, write, theorize over??? lifeblood for a fandom. i just cannot truly comprehend the fan creator that doesnt want new things to play with and enjoy.
#file away in: more evidence i just need to make my own kh site and community and ditch social media-based fandom#think some of yall act like doing stuff for kh when a kh game comes out is an obligation instead of a joyful privilege lol

(neurodivergent anon) thanks for the clarification! I do agree that hyperfixations are fun to ride out, especially with others!! It can be a bit of a hassle when it affects other parts of your life, but the minor inconveniences are worth the high of pure joy and excitement imo. Maybe we’ve sort of forgotten that side of it since it’s been so long and also bc of how fandom culture in general has changed in recent years
for real. like maybe part of the problem that people are feeling where they kinda seem burned out on kh is actually the opposite. maybe they are burned out on the drought and lack of new info and dont even realize that's what's up.

i think the thing that gets me with the like 'ahhh no not a game anytime soon' talk is that like, it comes off like we JUST got a full-fledged kh game, and not yknow 5 whole ass years ago.
#i dont know about you but i actually would LIKE to experience new kh games before the world implodes#kingdom hearts

I read that particular post more like “my kh hyperfixation (or whatnot) causes me to get so vehement that it ends up throwing other aspects of my life into disarray” so it’s like in anticipation of that happening again once news drops, which I understand as a neurodivergent person. It probably could’ve been worded a bit better. Or hell I could just be reading it wrong entirely, but anyway that’s just my 2 cents
& just to be clear I totally see your point too! I don’t think a lot of people are really putting as much effort into the fandom as they could be, news or no news. It’s been too quiet around here and it’s sad…
No i got that's what the original post meant. My other post has more been about a collective of similar thoughts being expressed by multiple people that I've seen over the past couple years (and in response to this post), not just this one person.
#but also as a neurodivergent person like hyperfixations are the good shit#they are the making daily life worth it shit#they are what fandom is like aaaabout

It honestly feels a bit disheartening to read those types of posts from fellow fans.
i find it very disheartening as well. sometimes it even just makes me angry lol. makes me feel like im the only one that actually loves and values this series because what the fuck do you mean you dont want a new game to come out or to be given even a scrap of news for the past like 4 years. like it does not make sense. this is not fandom.
#like we are coming up on SIX YEARS since KH3 came out#was that HALF DECADE+ not enough time for you to have a break???

the amount of people who express some kind of "im fine with the total drought" "i hope the games take forever to develop just keep cookin!!!!" "no please i dont want another kh game to come out, i get too into them!!" etc bewilders me. like no wonder the fandom is in shambles, moving around like a lifeless husk.
#kingdom hearts#'im a kh diehard but no please not another game anytime soon' well babes i dont think that is very diehard of you!!!

i mean, did they handwave it? i feel like the demon storm sequence and remind shows her trauma from being down there is a part of her character now.
Aqua’s time in the Realm of Darkness left deep scars and I can’t be convinced otherwise. I wish they didn’t just hand waved it. I know she’d very resilient, but still!

could you share some horror stories (or positive ones from days of kh fandom yore? i'm a new fan and morbidly curious about old times
oh god ive been here from the literal beginning so it'd be pretty hard to pick things. especially because back in the day, things were more localized to certain kh fansites/forums and such, so a lot of 'fandom drama' or wild stuff is more community-specific.
yea idk! idk what kind of stories would be interesting.
#most of the stuff i remember is more just the experience of each release and the stuff leading up to#stuff like BHK or Roxas' name leaking#or when a pre-release version of kh2 leaked and people were recording vids of TWTNW before the game came out#i still remember sora having an insane big treasure chest opening animation in that release where he just hacked the absolute shit out of i#that is not in the final game at all#or when CoM's endings leaked before release#fandom wise the post-kh2 organization fanworks were HUUUUUUUGE#like HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE#so much fan energy and creation was put into fleshing out the year between kh1 and kh2 back when days didn't exist#like does fandom still do Organization Months??? that was such a big recurring thing for so long now i never see it lol

Dude it is SO FUN and EXCITING to see a reoccurring reader. If you've commented a handful of times on an author's work, I guarantee that they recognize you. You can't imagine how many times I've excitedly informed my friends "the person with the funny cat image commented!" "- anon is back!!!!" and the friends've recognized who I was talking about because I talk about my commenters so often LOL. We love you all!!!

when you already knew the crossroads devil thing because nomura mentioned it in the CoM Ultimania 20 years ago so you can't even get hype and overtheorize like everyone else over this "new" info 🙃
