if you integrate y*dx for a rectangle x by y then you get the area is xy
I mean, true, but the derivation of an integral uses the formula of a rectangle, making this circular.
Basically the idea of integrals is that you add up the areas of infinitely many, infinitely skinny rectangles to find the area under the function, so you can’t use an integral to find the formula for the area of a rectangle.
