I think it’s so funny that being gay and being nice to people is considered communism nowadays by modern republicans. Like, “I mourned with those that mourned, supported my neighbors, was kind to people I didn’t understand, and now I got someone’s nutsack pressed against my chin. Goddamn communists got me at last.” Like homie I think that’s just being a person.

i say this with love: yall will make yourselves feel bad about fucking anything, i swear to god. you feel bad about feeling too much. you feel bad about feeling too little. you feel bad about what makes you feel good. you feel bad about not knowing what you like. you feel bad for not being able to survive easily in a world hostile to you. you feel bad for the tactics that you use to survive. you feel bad for how you identify. you feel bad for being unique. you feel bad for experiences that you share with millions of people. you suspect that every feeling, experience, desire, fear, and question in your brain is somehow evidence that you don't deserve to exist.
i can be so so reassuring about all of these things but ultimately you are the one that's gonna have to make a conscious choice to stop measuring yourself in these ways. there is no authority who gets to determine whether you have the right to exist or not. you already do. there is no body that votes on whether you get to feel, identify, or think as you do. you already do. your existence as it is is non-negotiable. stop trying to justify yourself. you're already here. the world is going to have to deal with it anyway.

What patriarchy does to masculinity and femininity is the equivalent of what humanity did to those dogs with the faces so flat they can't breathe: it contorts them both over long periods of time to fit a standard it invented while causing indescribable amounts of pain and suffering.

fuck off jonathan zimmerman of the hill. i live in an area full of trump supporters. i've spoken to them hundreds of times and they're exactly what we think they are. racist, sexist. and dumb. so fucking dumb. they trust a man who's filed bankruptcy four times to fix the economy (an economy he tanked by the way) over a woman, a black woman, with actual tangible plans supported by economics experts.
america is WILDLY a racist country. it's founded on it. he only makes those people more comfortable in their hatred. so fuck off with this nonsense.

I grew up in Arizona around this time, and a lot of people in the rest of the US don't understand that these ideas were percolating decades before Trump took office.
My uncle-by-marriage, the son of a Mediterranean immigrant, was where I first heard what we now call "The Great Replacement Theory" (around the early 2000s) People have been talking for a long time about the idea that people from Mexico are coming north to have kids and eventually make the Southwest a part of Mexico.
Imo, Trump didn't come up with any of these ideas himself. Like many are saying, he simply popularized these racist fringe policies and brought them into the mainstream. People were already talking about them with their families and their coworkers, when they could get away with it.
"why we build the wall" from hadestown is really gonna trip up future media analysis students. they'll be like "ah a piece of media from the 2010s referencing building a wall to keep out the poor, clearly this is a reference to the president of the united states from 2016-2020", and then their professor will have to be like "actually the concept album for this musical came out in 2010"

I love old union songs because it's like this fucking asshole was a scab so we fucking threw him in the river and he broke his spine and when he went to heaven he was scabbing on the angels so they fired him down to heaven and the devil was like you have to work in hell for being a dirty scab
