Agere sensories - visuals! (things I see!)
Seeking:
fairy lights, night lamps, aquarium lamps, lava lamps, LED strips, christmas lights
online you can search up toy commercials, toy unboxing, pinterest, or the website that you're on right now, Tumblr! however make sure your blocked tags and phrases are secured before going through social media, especially as a little
if you're feeling confident, visit toy stores, libraries' kids sections, playgrounds! they're very stimulating, but remember to stay respectful on your visits :)
There's more to artsy life than coloring books! Bead bracelets, clay, stickers, collecting various things, journaling, baby books, finger painting, glitter!
To my fem leaning regressors, hairclips, jewelry, bright make-up (I do not recommend kids make-up as it doesn't have regulations, use adult make up in a childish way), animal headbands! To my neutral/masc regressors, pins, patches, funky shoelaces, sticker tattoos, keychains! Decorate yourself to stimulate yourself on gloomy days!
get food for kids! More colorful, maybe with a cute animal or a smile or dinos, the pretty juice bottles with cartoons? don't get me started. You can also get shape cutters for your veggies/sandwiches
stimboards, gifs!
customize your devices! Wallpapers, keyboards, AOD, widgets! You can even use gifs!
decorate your room and gear too! Coloring pages or other craft you're proud of, showing your favorite toys (if you're safe) colorful rugs! Make custom pacis, add stickers to your bottles, add cute labels!
stim toys, glow in the dark toys! Water toys, squishy balls with colors in them, orbeez, snowglobes, slime!
Avoidant:
Have nap times! They don't have to be a nap time, but you can make an hour to yourself, covering the windows and turning off the lights
There are settings on modern devices specifically targeted for visuals. Lower the brightness, get yourself a dark mode, have eye safety on
Get yourself fuzzy nighttime blindfolds, cute sunglasses, hats or hoodies that will limit your eye view (be careful to be protected, but functional if you're outside)
this is universal for any sensory suppression, but items for babies are your best friends if you're looking for less eye straining gear. (Especially with the beige mom trend being more popular, ha ha)
if you still want to watch baby shows, check low-stimulation lists. Also, usually shows directed at younger age range are slower. I also find vintage cartoons less overwhelming (but they're not guaranteed to be always slow and not stimulating)
You can order online instead of throwing yourself out to the chaotic, overwhelming stores
limit your screentime! Short-form content is easily overwhelming, and staring into a bright screen for x hours doesn't do your eyes a favor. It's okay to need breaks and not always be up to date with everything
if possible, pick safe times to do your errands where there's not a lot of people, like weekend mornings.
have a list of safe cartoons, safe colors, safe places, or other "safe" sensories. It's sometimes better to know what you're comfortable with!
remember, if it gets too much, it is always okay to back out. This is YOUR coping mechanism and nobody else's, it's up to YOU what you're okay and not okay with

Autistic Littles!
Hello there! This post is for caregivers who care for littles who are autistic. Here's some ways to help with meltdowns or times when autism is being meaner than usual! (All from my personal experience as someone with autism! Not everyone is the same!)
First, let's start with some of the possible warning signs of a meltdown! 1. Sensory Issues worse than usual -> Textures may be described as "wrong" or "bad" -> Things may be perceived as louder than they actually are -> Things may be perceived as brighter than they actually are -> Room feels like it's closing in around you 2. May become more irritable -> May be more prone to snapping or having an attitude -> Could possibly be described as more "stubborn" 3. Trouble communicating -> Being non-verbal for a prolonged amount of time -> Trouble expressing feelings or emotions -> Could also speak faster than usual or slower than usual -> Saying things like "I don't know what's wrong" or "I can't figure out what's happening" 4. Difficulty taking care of self -> Forgetting to eat/not wanting to -> Not sleeping as they normally would -> Not having the motivation or energy to do basic tasks 5. Isolation -> This is a big warning sign! -> Not wanting to go out/leave the house/leave their room -> Struggling when they do leave their space 6. Increase in stimming (whether super noticeable stims, or more passive ones) -> Hand flapping, rocking, mouth popping, hair fidgeting, fidgeting with hands, etc These are some of the possible warning signs, but everyone is different. Now, here's some ways you can help a little experiencing this.
~Be patient and understanding. Autism can be scary outside of littlespace, but it can be scarier when little. Try not to get angry or frustrated. ~Avoid yelling or any other loud noises ~Don't force them to talk or communicate. Sometimes it's better to just have someone there ~Listen if they do try and communicate their needs. ~Going along with the one above, but don't feel hurt or like you did something wrong if they ask to be left alone or tell you they need space. Sometimes having someone around is too much and they might just need to process their emotions on their own. ~Communicate on ways to help once the meltdown seems to subside ~Remember that everyone is different. What you've seen work for someone might not work for someone else. It varies (which is why communication is good) ~Try to give suggestions if sensory issues is something that's a main struggle ("Try changing into comfy clothes" "Try a different blanket" "Turn off the TV?" "Turn off the lights?") Just trying to figure out what helps and what doesn't ~Offer a distraction if that's what they need (Ask about hyperfixations, even if you already know the answers to the questions. One of the good ones for me that always seems to come up is dinosaurs <3)
Remember: It's okay if something you do doesn't help. That's how you learn and you know not to do that thing next time. It's okay <3 You're doing great

𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬 ☁︎︎
-> Communicate with your caregiver about reassurance that you may need, and what ways they can support you best. Also make sure you’re expressing your feelings clearly, and how your needs can be met best.
-> Establish healthy boundaries from both sides! Sometimes attachment issues can cause excess anxiety and worries, and while that is normal, it’s important to make sure you’re still being healthy and respectful.
-> Make time for each other, or establish a routine. This can be particularly helpful if you or your caregiver are busy, and want to make sure you can still get in quality time together.
-> Use self soothing strategies when you find yourself getting anxious or overwhelmed. Go for a walk, hug a stuffie, find a new cartoon to watch, take several deep breathes- try to distract yourself.
-> Most importantly, be gentle and kind to yourself. Remind yourself that it’s okay to have that anxieties and fears, and that you’re lovable. You’re a worthwhile person, and you deserve secure connections. ♡︎

How to feel more like a puppy / doggie 🐶
Custom dog collars / normal collars
eating out of custom human-made dog bowls (I must express this: do not eat out of a used dog bowl)
get a chewy ball!
get a dog bed or if you feel comfortable with it, a dog cage (with blankies + pillows)
barking as much as you can
doing tricks
flops
chasing things (not other animals as you may scare them!)
eating doggy-like food (scooby snacks, beef jerky, peanut butter, biscuits)
going for walks and play times at the park
rolling around in the grass (if comfortable you can do mud as well!)
having baths instead of showers
furry paws
clip on tails
crawling on all fours
curling up on your caregiver's lap
jumpies
wiggles
lays at their caregiver's feet
spins in circles
using hands to eat / trying to eat even without hands (like licking the food off the plate)

more rambling!! i saw this photo on pinterest and my mind immediately went PARK RANGER CG!! i have a lot of ambiguous cg ocs in my mind :3
you guys would go around making sure hikers were alright, keeping the forest safe, maintaining trails and campgrounds :))
teeny tiny blurb — dad sighed as he pointed into the cabin again like ranger would understand, you tried to do the same but ranger only began trying to lick at your fingers. you peeled over into a fit of giggles and hardly even heard your dads sigh; equal parts exasperated and fond.
“alright now, enough roughhousing or i’m leaving both of you behind,” dad tried to go for firm but he never quite managed it, especially when it came to you.
“Okay, okay!” You wrapped your arms around rangers neck giving him a kiss right on the nose that he returned by swiping his tongue over your cheek. ranger climbed up into the truck first and before you could follow daddy smudged the dog slobber off your cheek with the cuff of his jacket.
“what am i gonna do with you?”
“let me pick the music?”
“maybe if you ever get in the car, slow poke.”
you scrambled up into your seat and grinned triumphantly when your belt was on and fastened. daddy rolled his eyes when he shut your door but there was mirth there in the soft curve of his smile and he didn’t say a word when you reached for the radio.
