Finished up a fingering weight 2 ply for a pair of mitten! I think the wool is BFL, but I’ve been working on this for so long I have no real clue.

Taking a brief break from working on the gavle goat itself to get started on making the flames!
This is a “trust the process” kind of step lol

Catching floats in two-handed knitting: how to catch the right hand yarn (i.e. the non-dominant yarn) on the purl side.
This is another very nerdy post. You’ll only ever need it, if you knit stranded colourwork on two needles and have long floats on a purl row.
But a few of you did ask for it, when I posted a video showing how to catch floats on the knit side.
Personally, I usually knit with both yarns in the left hand, (you’ll notice how bad I am at throwing in this video 🫣😅) but I hope you’ll find it useful nonetheless…
Stay tuned for a video showing how to catch the left-hand yarn (which is, admittedly, easier!)

Day 7 (a double bill today as a treat and cause I did loads of spinning yesterday while not doing other chores) and it's an interesting monochrome today in the advent calendar. This is a Christmas Carol reference so notably gray and ghostly
Tumblr media
This is also the first time I've spun mohair in any kind of mix and it's interesting.... Mixed with the very soft alpaca and llama as well it's a really soft and drapey yarn out at the end.
Tumblr media
I didn't get that much meterage either, it was quite hard to keep a hold of and keep fine so maybe that's the cause but would have been nice to have more of it.
And a final treat: week one all together <3

Finished the shoreline shawl!
Tumblr media
It's just so pretty, exactly how I pictured it.
The body is Dye Mad Yarns Genny Worsted in the Great Lakes set. The stripes are:
1-4: Superior
5-7: Ontario
8-9: Michigan
10: Huron
11: Erie
CC/Edging: Valley Yarns Ashfield
Tumblr media
Slipped the first stitch of every row through the body of the shawl. I normally do this, but for some reason it wound up super tight - it can't lay completely flat because of this. Next time I think I'll add a yarn over at the end of each row, dropping it when I get back to it.
Pattern is Cinder Rose by Kalurah Hudson. I made it bigger, but didn't take enough notes to know how much bigger.
Tumblr media
(the yarn doesn't look that creamy in real life)
This thing is so heavy and snuggly, it's like wearing a blanket around my shoulders.

I am So. Close. to finishing the knitted patchwork couch throw for my sister!
All the knitting is done, and I am really proud of how it's turned out!
There's just one thing left to do before I can post it to her.
Weave in All. These. Ends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
😭😭😭
I want to post it before Christmas so that there's any hope of its being useful to her during her Northern hemisphere winter.
There's just a couple hundred ends to weave in first. 😑😖😫
(You know the drill, like to charge, reblog to cast)
