“Come with me some time,” Aurelie replied. “Lucky for you, one of my powers is cloth manipulation, so it makes upcycling incredibly easy.”

“Hmm… I guess that makes sense,” he replied after realizing the little letters she was pointing to. “I suck at this.”

Aurelie smiled and shook her head. “No, you just don’t know how to pitch a tent. That’s nothing to be upset about.”

“What else is there for me to do?” he teased back with a little chuckle escaping his lips.

“Brother me, maybe?” Aurelie replied with a laugh.

Charlotte wouldn’t say to Aurelie that she was a little disappointed that their powers didn’t work in the way that Charlotte had thought, it would have made their people watching journey that much easier. “How do you know what aura stands for what? Is it just a feeling?” 

Aurelie nodded and then shrugged in response. “It’s kind of hard to explain.”

Tanner was grinning the whole way through the song. He couldn’t help himself. Her humming was the only sound he’d ever heard from her and it was music to his ears in more ways than one, “ Oh baby, we found love right where we are…” He sang, finishing the song with a slight longer note in his singing and the chord and his smile softened as he spoke to her, “You know, I don’t know why we don’t jam more often. Don’t tell him I said this, but your jamming skills rival your brother’s,” He said, laughing.

Aurelie smiled at his comment. “You should’ve seen me when I could outsing my brother.”

Tanner smiled widely and started to strum, “When your legs don’t work like they used to before. And I can’t sweep you off of your feet. Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love? Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?” He kept going, kind of getting carried away with the music as he always did but also looking at Aurelie while he sang. Maybe there were other people listening to the music when he started playing too but he didn’t know.

Despite the pain in her throat it gave her, Aurelie hummed softly, the only amount of sound the girl could get out with her damaged vocal cords. She smiled back at Tanner, before playing along on her ukulele.

“My lips are sealed,” Charlotte said, making a zip motion over her lips in response. After a moment of thinking, Charlotte spoke again, “Could you tell what people are thinking with your powers?” 

Aurelie shook her head. “Oh god no, that’s a completely different power.”

“I’ve been camping a lot,” Aurelie replied. “It’s understandable to not understand how to put a tent together.”

Tanner laughed, “Hey for all I know you could secretly hate that he basically always has a guitar,” He joked, knowing it couldn’t possibly be true, “Of course I can play some Ed Sheeran. Anyone who owns a guitar and can’t play at least a little doesn’t actually know how to play guitar,” He said, continuing to joke as he started to strum, “What about Thinking Out Loud?” He suggested.

Aurelie nodded. “Yeah, I love that one.”

“This is seriously the perfect spot for people watching,” Charlotte mused with a laugh as she watched someone in the distance and try to cover it up. “The things people do when they don’t think anyone is watching…” She said with a shake of her head. “Are you having fun?” 

Aurelie nodded at Charlotte question. “People interest me. All the different colored auras make me love it. Though, sometimes I’ll manipulate someone’s if they’re sad. Don’t tell anyone that though.”

“Hey those are really pretty earrings,” she mentioned to the girl sitting by the fire with her. “Where did you get those?”

Aurelie smiled in a thank you. “I got them at a thrift store for like two dollars.”

“Heads up!” she shouted as the frisbee flew Aurelie’s way. “That could’ve been a close one.”

Aurelie jumped back when she saw the frisbee flying toward her. She quickly grabbed the frisbee that was flying and then held it out to the other girl.

“It says A goes to B but… how do we know which one’s A and which one’s B?” Gabe asked, twisting the bars around and trying to figure something out. “I’m supposed to be an engineer, why the hell is this giving me a hard time?”

Aurelie snapped to try and get his attention. She pointed to the one side he was holding, after she had found the small letter B engraved into the metal. She pointed at the pole to show him where to find it. She then pointed to herself, and signed the letter B.

“You already put on sunscreen?” he asked, moving to lay out his towel before looking to his sister again. “Don’t make me go all mom on you.”
