When you feel like an idiot, remember Tim Minear who had in his hands:
- An LI that fit the dynamics of the series (He already knew the main characters before)
- He had the chance to make a Tarlos 2.0
- The character (who had the ability) to be a main character in future seasons, since he is a pilot.
- It was possible to make a spin-off series focused on air operations... etc.
- Bring new conflicts because a new character comes with a whole new baggage of stories.
- Introduce new supporting characters that the general public might be interested in.
But he threw all that in the trash and simply discarded and ended everything by surprising even the actor who plays him, because he repeated the same tired and worn-out plots from past seasons...
In addition to regressing a main character to the worst version of the character (Hi Season 1).... I'll stop here before I get even more irritated.

Tommy Kinard finally got people to fight for him - whether it's Buck or not, who knows - that's up to the writers - but over his years with a difficult father, a bigot captain, and who knows what else - this time when he distanced himself to protect his heart, there are people in the fandom fighting the network, the showrunners, and everyone else who tries to make Tommy believe that he doesn't deserve a happy ending and that he is worth fighting for. Whether Buck runs after Tommy or not to tell him that he is someone's forever, the fandom will sure make him believe that he is someone's forever and he doesn't have to live in the fear of being heartbroken again. He finally found a family who has his back when things go wrong.

I admit that until about 2 days ago (Sunday) I wanted Lou to somehow return to 9-1-1, but now seeing how happy he is in SWAT... I don't want him to return to the ABC series anymore.
Before I forget: Fuck you 9-1-1!

THE FALL GUY
In episode 8x06, Tommy broke-up with Buck because he was afraid to move to the next step: moving in together. This is so out-of-character for Tommy. He's usually very caring and considerate to other people's feelings. That's why he visited Buck to clear the air between Buck & Eddie back in episode 7x04. Tommy wouldn't get into a relationship with Buck if he knows that he will break Buck's heart someday.
Is a more reasonable cause for the break up possible?
I can think two of them:
Tommy is transferred to a new city. He has a traumatic break up from a long distance relationship before, and is not willing to take the risk again. The 'long distance relationship' reason has been used to explain Grace's absence in Lone Star.
Tommy is killed in an accident. A repeat of Shannon storyline. It's not really a good idea. Audience might chalk it up as a lazy writing. But it is easy and ensure a big dramatic impact.
So, why they use such an out-of-character reason for Tevan break-up?
They couldn't think of a better idea, which is nonsense considering some of the writers are involved in Lone Star.
They need Tommy to be the bad guy. They want Buck to have several more love interests to strectch the life of the show. They may even take Oliver's suggestion: #LetBuckF–k ala Wedding Crashers with guy, guy, girl, girl, guy, guy... 🙄 (link). However, they don't want Buck to look like he regresses to the slutty Buck a.k.a Buck 1.0. So, they need a fall guy to be blamed as the cause for Buck's second slutty awakening.
They want to make a character growth storyline for Tommy, before bringing Buck & Tommy together again. It means Tommy will come back in the future.
Despite how much I hope they will go with Scenario #3 (with Tommy), there is no guarantee that they won't go with Scenario #2 (without Tommy). I refuse to be tricked again, so I will not watching until I get official confirmation that Tommy will be on the episode. I also REFUSE to reward people who are cruel enough to make Tommy the bad guy despite how much harrasments Lou has been endured from toxic Buddie fans.
If they have actually decided to go on without Tommy, I'm afraid online backlash IS NOT enough to make them bring Tommy back. In the BuckLucy debacle (Season 6), the General Audience and the fandom had the same voice. This time, there are two opposite voices on the internet, both probably are equally loud.
The only certain way to make them ask Lou to come back is if THE RATING/VIEWERSHIP is swayed enough to really show our voice.

Listen, I could be totally off base here (what’s new am I right??) but the more these “journalists” get upset and try to convince us to move on just proves to me that what we’re saying is reaching people. No, it doesn’t mean we’ll get tommy back (honestly couldn’t blame lou if he was offered and rejected at this point), but it means people are listening and can’t ignore the ways we’ve voiced our hurt and confusion over the episode. I have not seen anyone on Facebook or instagram harass or be disrespectful, they’ve simply been dumbfounded and upset, which is valid. These are not just fan accounts either, these are regular people who watch the show and go about their normal lives. GA members! I don’t know how people are going about things on Twitter. I only see what goes on there from screenshots posted here. But I can guarantee hate is still spilling from one specific side.
DO NOT go directly to these journalists and provoke them, please. They’re not worth it. If anything, ignore and unfollow them. Don’t interact with the links they post. Leave them alone.
Keep voicing your opinion to the proper channels. I have been suggesting abc’s website from the beginning, and will continue to do so.
As always, keep it respectful.

I'm laughing a lot (although I'm still pretty mad) at the dramatic situation that 9-1-1 finds itself in because by eliminating in the most ridiculous way imaginable a character that is loved by the public (Tommy Kinard) they are being criticized a lot... What could they have been expecting, flowers, kisses and hugs?

I definitely want Tim Minear, ABC and the rest of the 9-1-1 crowd to cry rivers of blood when they realize what they lost when they let this man go.
Yes, I'm a bad bitch

I think one of the reason the BuckTommy breakup hits so hard for me is because of the reason I enjoy 9-1-1.
For the most part, 9-1-1 was a show that rewarded optimism. It was never trying to be grim-dark or edgy or mean. Unless it was absolutely essential to character development, not even the emergency victims died. Chest compressions or shock paddles have a 99% success rate. Unless a character is villain-coded from the start, if the last more than an episode, they get a happily ever after. Abby got one. Taylor Kelly got a book deal and is pursuing her career like she wanted. That kid who got his leg crushed got a return cameo to show he's fully recovered and saved Bobby.
Chimney and Maddie break up but find their way back together.
Athena and Bobby have 'this marriage isn't working' fights and stay together but stronger.
Hen cheats on Karen and they live separately for half a season, but they pull through.
Chris sees his dad do something genuinely awful and leaves for El Paso, but we all know, with absolute confidence, that he'll be back ready to rebuilt trust with Eddie.
But Tommy? For some reason, Tommy is the one we don't get to keep? Tommy doesn't get a happy ending? He's too scared to trust he won't get his heart broken by Buck, so he vanishes into the mist to stay alone and scared?
I trusted Tim Minnear because he had 7+ seasons of trust built. I thought it was safe to become invested in this character, so I did. I have absolutely no interest in revisting Buck's fuck-boy era. I want what I was promised. I want Tommy to get his happily ever after.

I've decided I'm with y'all, Lou is getting me in the divorce. Breakup aside, the writing has been sloppy for a while now and often reduces characters to just one thing, or repeats storylines (when is the last time there wasn't something wrong with Eddie?). I stopped watching in s6 and binged the rest of the episodes right before s7 started, and now it's time to stop watching until right before s9 starts (if I return to the show at all). ANYWAY, is S.W.A.T any good?
