“I know that if women wish to escape the stigma of husband-seeking, they must act and look like marble or clay - cold, expressionless, bloodless; for every appearance of feeling, of joy, sorrow, friendliness, antipathy, admiration, disgust, are alike construed by the world into the attempt to hook a husband. Never mind! well-meaning women have their own consciences to comfort them after all. Do not, therefore, be too much afraid of showing yourself as you are, affectionate and good-heartened; do not too harshly repress sentiments and feelings excellent in themselves, because you fear that some puppy may fancy that you are letting them come out to fascinate him; do not condemn yourself to live only by halves, because if you showed too much animation some pragmatical thing in breeches might take it into his pate to imagine that you designed to dedicate your life to his inanity.”
— Charlotte Brontë writing to a friend who had been kind to a man she thought was married, only to have him fall in love with her because he thought she was flirting (letter dated April 2, 1845). (via groot)

i see you on the other side of the crosswalk.
i keep my head down. you do the same.
the cars stop and we cross the street. we don't exchange glances.
you have longer hair, your sister walks by your side. i wonder if she recognizes me.
if you recognize me.
so many days under the sun,
summer and smoke and laugh and shiny wet skin and regrets.
you and i have nothing left to say
you and i have nothing in common now
besides the memories
besides the cruel and comforting fact that
we
were
young
together.

we have a rotten concept of love.
once upon a time i had a storm and a sun in my life and I was forced to choose. the storm entertains you, illuminates you without warning, filling everything with light and making you jump with fright to start laughing later. the sun shines on you tenaciously and constantly, without streaks of darkness or thunderous noises.
love isn't constant intensity.
it isn't yelling at each other to kiss passionately later, it isn't fighting in the rain or pushing each other while you cry. love should be simple. it must be watching romantic comedies on the couch and painting each other's nails and brushing your teeth together while walking around the house. and yes, sometimes it's boring, sometimes you feel stuck in the monotony, but loving someone should feel more like a sunny sunday afternoon and less like a chaotic friday night.

i want to be wealthy but not rich does that make sense? like i don't wanna be an influencer and live in a modern mansion in LA, i want to be part of the english aristocracy and live in a castle with a lake and have a huge library and spend the summer in my palace in Italy drinking champagne and driving a convertible car with my friends

disney character: mirror mirror on the wall, who is the farest of them all? mirror: look, susan, beauty is a socially constructed concept which can be defined in many ways by different people. moreover, regardless of which definition is used, it cannot be quantified and therefore cannot be accurately compared.

"In a time of heightened 'feminism,' women of color and poor women are being left behind, and yet the trappings that uniquely target us, like poverty, incarceration, police brutality, and immigration, aren't often quantified as 'feminist issues.'"

#BlackLivesMatter isn’t meant to exclude others. It’s simple saying, if All Lives Matter, that should include Black Lives too.
