Have a little freetime today to catch up on the Lifetime adaptations of the first two novels in the Casteel Family Saga and oh my God, why was it so impossible for them to stick to Heaven’s hair colour? Such a mundane thing to nitpick over and I’m enjoying it, mostly, but like? On the more positives: I do like the casting mostly. I’m halfway through Dark Angel and Kelly Rutherford is such an icon.

“I stared up at the sky. It seemed to me like an inverted deep bowl of navy-blue velvet, sparkled all over with crystalized snowflakes instead of stars—or were they tears of ice that I was going to cry in the future?”
— V. C. Andrews, Flowers in the Attic

there’s a whole stack of vc andrews’ editors’ notes on her first draft of if there be thorns and the depravity of her books is actually so much funnier when you’re getting someone’s professional opinion on them but NO other context? like this line:
“Pg. 117–As we discussed, I think Emily Stone is another character that should be done away with entirely. No 17 year old would seduce a 12 year old. And I really don’t think she adds anything to the story.”
the character doesn’t appear in the published manuscript so i’m just wondering WHAT was going on originally?

Photo Journal: It’s -2 outside today. Negative. 2. Which feels like the perfect day to revisit My Sweet Audrina, start using this V.C. Andrews blog, and annotate my favourite parts in this book. Also, you know, lay in bed and pretend to not exist for hours.

Well, after weeks of procrastinating and debating and seeing a lot of negative reviews regarding it, I’m starting Lifetime’s adaptation of My Sweet Audrina. MSA is, perhaps, my favorite novel of V.C. Andrews and has been for many, many years. Based on what I’ve seen of it, what fans have stated about it, I’m already aware of how critical I am about to be about it.
It doesn’t seem like a faithful adaptation but I wouldn’t expect much from Lifetime, anyways.
Let me just get my number one thing about it out of the way: YOU CAN TRY AND MAKE HIM OUT TO BE A GOOD GUY OR ROMANTIC LEAD MATERIAL, BUT NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES IN THE FILM ARDEN LOWE WILL FOREVER BE A PIECE OF TRASH IN MY EYES.
