Something nobody really talks about with omori is the weird lack of magic

Like- Headspace is plenty whimsical and all but most of the characters use melee weapons or- in the case of space ex-boyfriend GUNS

The only characters I can think of who explicitly use magic are the unbread twins, life jam guy

And weirdly also Basil

Like?? You genuinely wouldn’t know in a regular playthrough but headspace Basil is magic??? Like the whole game he goes on and on about “oh I can’t fight oh I wish I was strong like you guys” but then you bring him into battle AND HE STARTS CONJURING PLANTS OUT OF THE GROUND TO DEFEAT HIS ENEMIES

YOU COULD DO THAT THIS WHOLE TIME ???

Conclusion: sunny decided the only people in his whimsical dream world worthy of magic powers were the literal gods of life and death…. And also his best buddy Basil who gets plant magic

I finished playing the entire hikikomori route and the loneliness and feeling of missing your childhood that Snowglobe Mountain gives made me cry help (I'm a crybaby)

a detail I really love in OMORI is that when KEL knocks on SUNNY’s door for the first time he doesn’t appear in SUNNY’s mind until he’s clearly stated who he is, which always struck me as a quick suggestion that KEL has grown and changed so much that SUNNY doesn’t even recognise his own voice at first

I connect with Omori's hikikomori route on a very personal level, playing it makes me feel comfort and a safe place, I know it has to do with the fact that when I play I get away from everything and everyone in a desperate attempt to escape my negative and confusing emotions, But that doesn't mean that I like being alone, I hate being alone, I simply want and need to find a safe place where everything and, above all, everyone I love is okay. Also the feeling of giving up that that route transmits, because despite moving away and choosing to not say goodbye, Sunny does not want to be alone, and he hates being alone, so his negative feelings only get worse and worse to the point that he doesn't even want to be awake anymore and he takes refuge in Omori, but even if he tries to comfort himself imagining that he has company by his side, deep down he knows how alone he is and will be forever.
