He smiled at her joke as they started walking. He did knew how she got when she was starving and found it cute. The conversation soon focused on their appointment again though, which is what Jonas expected when she offered to get a bite. “He’s not supposed to tell, not even to Ralph, whether they’re friends or not”, he answered. Hopefully it would reassure her but he could understand her anxiousness. She was worried their doc might let it slip but he sure hoped they would have the chance to tell their families. “You mean my mom”, he corrected. Then he was quiet for a moment. He wondered how his dad would have felt about being a grandfather. Would it have brought them closer? Anyway, he was all for breaking the news to their families together because it felt better than doing it on their own. “My dad died, remember? But yeah I’d like us to do it together. She’ll be happy to see you again”. They were seated at a table for two and handed the menus. Jonas’s mind was racing. He wasn’t worried about how his mother would welcome the news, in fact he was pretty sure she would be happy about her future grandchild but how were Aubrey’s parents going to react? He hadn’t seen or talked to them since he’d told Aubrey about the idea they came up with after her accident. He was only sure there was no bad blood as Ralph would have told him about it but… maybe he was overthinking and everything would be fine. “And everything on the menu looks good. Have you chosen yet”.

you'd think it would be easy enough to choose a dish when you are really hungry, but hunger was the problem right now - she couldn't choose and would rather have everything. "right? everything sounds so good. it's weird that I haven't been here yet. I can't think clearly when I'm hungry. I want everything." of course that she was just joking, but she said it so seriously that it almost sounded so real. sometimes she was kind of a drama queen but in a good and not harmful way. “I think that I will go with ramen and then pad thai.” aubrey finally made her decision after a few minutes and put the menu down.  

“nine months sounds like a long time, doesn't it? but in reality it will probably be the fastest nine months of our lives.“ aubrey commented before returning to the topic of their pregnancy announcement. “I will be happy to see her again too. how is she? and when do you want to do that? since I can't really fully dance and attend my rehearsals, I have a plenty of time. It reminds me that I should probably think and figure out what I will do with my time now. I can't just sit all the time at home and wait for the moment when I pop out the baby.”

Knowing her as well as he did, one of the special talents Tay had was knowing when Aubrey wasn’t being entirely honest. And right now, his instinct was telling him there was more to the story than what his sister was saying. Focusing on the water set before him though, he decided not to press her on it… yet. He took a drink of water instead, and in that moment she decided to turn the tables and try to get him on the defensive now. “I’m good, you know me. Nothing really new, but I did talk to them a few…” He had to think for a moment, how long had it been? “…weeks ago. Man, I probably should give them a call.” On the topic of his own love life, Tay wasn’t that eager to get into things there. Aubrey was always chiding him and trying to get him to focus more on his situation. “There’s been a few new people, they’re all nice. And no, I wouldn’t say there’s been any interest there.”

Wait, how had she actually managed to turn this all around on him?

"hm..." aubrey nodded slightly with her head. it was her neutral reaction. she wasn't happy with his answer but also he didn't say anything bad so it was on a safe ground. "that's good. it's good that you meet new people. what the situation is now doesn't mean it will be the same in a fortnight. Girls have a weakness for men in uniform. Policeman, a fireman and a doctor are i top three.” aubrey joked as she ran her hand through her hair. "I know that you work so hard and that you have just a little bit of free time for other things but I would really want you to be happy - I mean, in your love life. It has been a while since you are single. Don’t you feel alone?”

It wasn’t that Luna didn’t believe Aubrey– she wasn’t one to joke about something so serious. It was just that she was baffled, and a little shocked. Unease settled through her when she realized that this happened now, after Aubrey and Jonas had ended things. A tether that might keep them together. “Wow. I did not expect that. But… you aren’t even a little excited? How did Jonas take the news?” Luna felt honored to be the only other one to know of this child, and she’d take the secret with her for as long as she needed to. “Thank you for telling me.” Her features softened again. “Your secret is safe with me. I’m still trying to get over the shock.” Aubrey probably felt that doubly so. “How are you feeling about it all?”

"of course I'm excited. every change and this is a big life change is somehow exciting but it's also scary and I'm scared as hell. have you ever imagined me as a mother?” aubrey sighed before she started talking about jonas. "obviously, he was surprised and really taken aback. also, he is much more mature than I am. he seemed to be surprised but somehow I felt like he was ready. we've talked about starting a family but it has never been in a stage where we are really going to this.” she explained.  "thank you. it is just a matter of time when I will have to tell my family.

“That so?”, he asked although he wasn’t expecting an answer. And at that moment, he really wanted to kiss her to celebrate that but he refrained. He merely smiled. To be completely honest, Jonas been scared that she’d change her mind and decide that she wasn’t ready for this after all, and of course he would’ve supported her. For that reason, her reaction was reassuring and Jonas allowed himself to fully enjoy the moment. It was confirmed; they were going to be parents and there was so much to look forward to. When Aubrey broke the news weeks ago, he’d been scared he wouldn’t mess up but things were different now. He was ready, he was excited, he was confident that he would do his best to be a good father. Seeing their child grow and then grow up was going to be one of his greatest joys, he just knew it. After letting Aubrey fix her clothes and thanking the doctor, they were outside again.Jonas was still reeling from what they just saw and basking in the joy it brought. “Our kid”, he repeated. Just saying it made him smile. It still felt so surreal but after this appointment, it was starting to feel real. “It was great. Thanks for letting me tag along”. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and focused on a spot just above her shoulder. Although he didn’t want to, it was time for him to go. He was just trying to postpone as much as possible when she eventually offered to go get some food so needless to say he jumped at the occasion to spend more time with her. “I do have some time before going back. How do you feel about noodles for lunch?”

"yeah, why not. I am starving so I will eat anything." aubrey said, adjusting her bag on her shoulder. "we should better get going before I get into my really hungry stage in which I will turn out into a monster." she joked as they both headed towards to the restaurant. hopefully it's not ralph's friend. how the medical oath actually works? he can't actually tell him I'm pregnant, right?” asking him, they both went by their sides. “or he may find out from an innocent congratulation that he will be an uncle.” as always, aubrey was thinking out loud when there was something bothering her. “but on the other hand, he as a doctor should understand that it's big and most of the time, the parents want to tell their family and loved ones the news. have you thought about how you tell it to your parents?" aubrey asked, immediately realizing that it probably wasn't something he had thought through yet. "or should we do it together? even though we are not longer together? I would want that. we could also explain them our situation.” suggesting, they finally reached the restaurant and headed inside. luckily, the restaurant was quite empty since it hadn't been the lunch time yet. “it smells so good in here. I feel like I want to eat everything.”

Jonas wanted to make things clear and let her know that yes, she did have the choice but they were already walking into the building. The waiting room didn’t feel like the right place to have that conversation so he figured that would wait until after their appointment. Indeed, before long, they were called into the doctor’s office and things went real fast from there. Jonas barely had time to register that Aubrey was lying on the examination table. His nervousness was kicked up a notch. What were they going to see? What if the blood tests results had been misinterpreted after all? God, were they going to be able to see the baby already? He felt her hand reach for his and offered her a smile. The doctor started speaking so Jonas turned his attention to the screen. It made no sense to him until the doctor pointed at a small circle at the center of the screen, telling them that this was the gestational sac, that the placement looked good and that she was therefore able to confirm the pregnancy. Jonas stared at the small circle. It would grow to become a human being; a baby. Their baby. The doctor was going about how their baby was still a microscopic cluster of cells but he wasn’t listening anymore. He looked over at Aubrey with a smile plastered on his lips. It was amazing. It filled him with joy and pride. It was the best thing that’s happened to him in a while and would certainly be one of his greatest joy in life. “Have you seen that?”

"I have." she said, her gaze fixed on the screen. what she saw on the screen definitely didn't look like a person or a baby but something inside her woke up at that moment. “this small circle is our mini me or mini you." she said excitedly with a smile on her face. “I can already see and I can say that she or he will have your eyes.” joking was sort of her defense mechanism. the doctor laughed at her statement, saved the record, and wiped the gel off her stomach. when everything was settled in the doctor's office and she received all the necessary materials and instructions about what awaits her in the following months, they both left the office. taking a deep breath outside in front of the hospital, she closed her eyes for a brief moment and then looked at him. aubrey felt like something has changed inside of her. "so it's real, there is a human inside of me. our kid." she said as she clutched the papers in her hands. truth be told, she would rather throw away all those papers and give him a big hug and kiss, because this moment and the fact that they were going to be parents were asking for it. unfortunately, they were no longer in a position where it was completely natural. “well, since I have been pretty nervous about this day since yesterday and I couldn't eat much, I would go get some food. do you want to go to grab something with me or do you have to go back to work?”

“Well alright, if you’re sure about that? I’ve got faith in you that it’ll be excellent as always.” Following after her as she led into the kitchen, Tay took up a seat at the kitchen island. “Water with lemon’s just fine, no need to get out the good stuff just for me.” She did seem to be in good spirits, and given all the craziness of the last few months it just made him feel good to see her in a happy mood. Feeling a little like a freeloader in dropping in on her for dinner, he propped an elbow up on the table as he watched her pour a glass of water for him. “So everything’s good with you then, Ri? How are you feeling?”

"on a scale from one to ten, I think I'm somewhere between six and seven and that's good." she said before she looked at him. seeing his face, she suddenly panicked. why did she feel like he saw straight into her head and knew that she was lying? well, she wasn't technically lying - she felt good, she was just keeping a secret from him. pouring water into a glass, she placed it in front of him. "what about you? how is work? have you talked to mom and dad? they miss you. and what about your love life? I noticed that there is a bunch of new nurses in the hospital. any new interest?” it was easier to throw at him a bunch of questions to answer than to focus on her and her life.

Jonas looked down as her fingers slipped between his. The contact with her skin seemed to bring his senses back to life. It felt good, it felt right. The gentle wave of nostalgia that washed over him at that moment brought a smile to his lips. “No need to apologize”, he offered “I understand. And I’m nervous too, to be honest… but I also know that we’ll be able to handle whatever future has in store for us”. He gave her hand a light squeeze. “We’re in this together no matter what”. He jerked his chin toward the entrance and offered an encouraging smile. “You ready?”

"I guess so? I really do not have much of choice but as you said, we are in this together." squeezing his hand back, she stood up and they both went into the building. there wasn't anyone waiting so it was a good sign that they don't have to wait there and suffer from that nervousness any longer. soon the nurse opened the door from the office and invited them in. all those pictures and posters about pregnancy on the wall made her excited for a bit. it was strange because it was the first time she felt a positive emotion in connection with the fact that she will be a mother. it was probably the place and the atmosphere. after they solved everything on the agenda, she laid down on the lounger and pulled out her t-shirt. her hand automatically moved down to find his. this was a big moment in their lives. as soon as the doctor started doing the exam, her gaze turned to the screen next to her but what she saw there was unreadable to her. she quickly looked at jonas and the doctor, they both looked very interested in what they were seeing there. “so?” aubrey asked cautiously. “what do you see?”

Luna didn’t intend to take sides; she hoped to be the mediator between her friends. Lying was usually an absolute crime in her book, but she also knew for Jonas to do it meant he had a good reason. No ill intentions, even if it all became a giant mess. “I’ll see if I can pry more out of him,” she promised softly. “I’m sorry about it all though. I can’t even imagine him lying. I know there couldn’t have been malice behind it though. Even if it still hurts like hell.” Just as she had taken another swig of her concoction, Aubrey busted out with that news. Luna had to cover her mouth to keep from spewing in surprise. She swallowed quickly, dark eyes wide and searching Aubrey’s. “What? Are you serious?? You better not be messing with me, A.” 

"yes, I'm serious." aubrey felt a little bit offended that lune thought that she was messing with her, but truth to be honest, most of the time that majority of conversation with aubrey was led in the playful and joking sense. “I found out completely randomly. I went on the last appointment after the recovery, they did a few exams and also the blood test.” aubrey explained. "you are the only one who knows that. and also jonas. I had to tell him immediately but not because I was so excited about the news but because I couldn't process it. life is really funny isn't it?”

Jonas waved back at Aubrey and smiled as he got closer. He wouldn’t have missed this appointment for anything in the world. She was gorgeous as usual but something seemed to bother her. Truth be told, he was rather nervous too. This test would determine for sure whether they were going to be parents or not but Jonas was already convinced that it was the case. If the result turned out negative today, there would be disappointment on his part for sure. He’d barely made it there when Aubrey spoke, causing his smile to fade. Where did that come from? She was probably just nervous but now, she was communicating it to him. “Uh…” two babies at once? That would make things way more complicated than they already were. “I mean…”, he scratched the back of his head and offered a playful smile “More for us to love, right?

aubrey liked his approach, but hearing this out loud, it somehow felt like a reality which scared her even more. "no, we won't have twins. one baby is enough for now." reassuring herself like that, she took this saying as the reality. "I'm sorry." she said right away. "I'm just so nervous and sometimes I don't even know what I say." apologizing, she got up from the bench and adjusted her purse on her shoulder. "whatever they tell us at the doctor's office, it will be fine and we can handle it, right?" maybe it was her old instinct, or she was just nervous, but she reached for his hand and entwined his hand with hers.

Showing up uninvited on her doorstep didn’t seem to bother Aubrey, Tay stepped inside as she held the door open for him to. Her response came with a smile, telling him she didn’t seem to mind his drop-in. “Good then, I’m glad you’re doing well.” He’d naturally been protective of her ever since childhood, but the recent few months with the accident and everything had him even more ready to keep a watchful eye over Aubrey. “Work’s been okay, kicking my butt like usual but that’s not new.” Stopping to take his shoes off at her door, Tay grinned at his sister. “And pizza, huh? You said the magic word. I’d love some. Anything I can do to help?”

"no no no, there is no need to help." she said as she closed the door after him. "I wouldn't say that there is much what you can screw on homemade pizza but you know that I'm capable of anything so the only thing you can do is say nothing in case it's really really bad pizza." after a brief briefing on how he should treat her, aubrey walked into the kitchen and reached for a glass. “what would you like to drink? do you want to have an experience like in Italy so would you like some wine, or will water with lemon be enough for you like it is for me? "

“I’m drinking, I’m drinking!” Luna insisted playfully, feeling the bubbles tickle her throat and nose. Already she could feel a hint of tipsiness, which was a sign of a good drink. “I could see it, but you’re too glamorous and talented to be behind a bar. You’re destined for much more.” She could see in Aubrey’s face that her and Jonas felt similar in their newfound break up. Or at least, neither seemed glad about it. “He did, but not the how or why. At least not yet. I’m nosy, but I don’t want to push too hard either,” Luna admitted. “But I hope you know that you’re my friend too, and I’m here for you both. I’d rather not take sides here.” She paused, taking another long drain from her drink. “Are you okay?”

audrey listened carefully to her friend. She was jonas's best friend, but because she was a good person and she was fun and aubrey liked to spend time with her, she became her friend too. from the way she talked, she probably didn't know everything. "you should ask him. all I can say is that he lied to me and even though I think that I've already somehow accepted it, it's still quite hard to talk about it." aubrey admitted and reached for her glass in which was actually just a juice and not any alcoholic drink. “If I am okay? I don't know. hopefully, I am since I'm pregnant." she said it as nonchalantly as if there was some alcohol in her glass and she didn't care what she let out of her mouth.

today was marked by big news. today aubrey and jonas were supposed to find out if she was really pregnant or if the previous assumptions were just false alarms. the doctors assumed she was pregnant from her blood test, so there was a high chance they were right, but there was still that question mark of ‘what if the test was wrong?’ aubrey made an appointment with her gynecologist in a time when jonas was free because he wanted to go there with her. it was nice of him but maybe that made her nervous too. it seemed to her that he was more ready for the baby than she was, which wasn’t exactly bad. it just made her nervous. as she waited for him outside the doctor's office, as they still had a few minutes left, a lot of thoughts and questions raced through her mind. seeing him in a distance, she smiled slightly and waved at him as she wanted to catch his attention. "hi" she greeted him when he was close enough to her. “I was wondering....” she started immediately, there was a sign of nervousness in her voice and also her moves and behavior made it obvious. “what if we don't expect a baby? what if there are two? what if we are expecting twins?”

The door swung open and standing in front of Tay was his sister with a confused look. He bristled for a moment at hearing his first name, but gave her a gentle grin and shook his head no. “Nope, we didn’t plan anything. I just wanted to drop by and see you. See how things were going for you and all. How are you feeling, Ri?”

Aubrey smiled softly at the sight of her brother and stepped back from the door for him to enter. I broke up with my longtime boyfriend and just found out I'm pregnant with his child so yeah, I'm having the time of my life. was the first thing that came to her mind in response to his question. but instead she just said simple - “I’m fine. you? how is the work? I’ve just made a homemade pizza. you want some?”

Hearing her talk about it, Jonas realized that he never apologized. He should’ve said something, done something, but he’d been so wrapped up in his own misery show that he just let her go. It was time to make things right. At least he would take try because it really wasn’t what she thought. He gently nudge her with his shoulder, encouraging her to look at him. They were finally having the opportunity to discuss things and he wasn’t about to let it pass. “I’m sorry, Aubrey. You tried to be there for me and I had the worst reaction. My dad and I had a very complicated relationship for years and I don’t know, I just… I was mad and I was hurt when I found out he left his club to that woman. It felt like being let down. Again. But I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did. I didn’t want it to interfere in our lives but what I didn’t realize is that I was allowing it to by not opening up to you. Instead of ignoring it, I should’ve told you how I felt even if it was hard. But this had nothing to do with you, babe. I didn’t mean to push you away and I regret. I loved you.. I love you, okay?”

He paused to consider everything he’d just said. There was more she didn’t know and he’d be happy to tell her if she wanted to know. His relationship with his dad was one of hurt, abandonment and missed opportunities that was affecting him well into his adult life, much to his dismay, but he was trying to move past that and hoped he would be given the opportunity to make things better. “And that’s why I’m ready to do this with you if you’re ready too. It’s not pity, I mean it. If you decide to keep it, I’m with you all the way”. She’d caught him red handed before he eventually realized that yes, he did want this baby. He wanted to be a father. But he also wanted to give her the space and time she needed to decide what was right for her. “I think I’d make a pretty good mom”, he smiled. He wiped her tears away and resisted the urge to tell her how beautiful she was. He fucking missed her and it was killing him. Although he never stopped loving her, he did fell in love with her all over again during the few weeks they’d spent together. “But there’s no pressure. Whatever you decide, I’m with you all the way. Everything’s going to be okay”.

not only talking through their situation was hard but also hearing him saying what was on his heart - his defense. but what she could feel from his words were rather an explanation and apology. sometimes, the things you do at a certain moment, you think that are good and that you behave in the best way that you can, but with the passage of time it can turn out that it was complete stupidity. unfortunately, this situation was exactly the case. but with her injury and memory loss it was much more complicated. “yes, you shouldn't have behaved that way. you should have done it in a different way.” aubrey said with a low voice. just being here, listening, talking, thinking - it was all very emotional. "but it was in the past and we can't change the past. we just have to deal with it, accept it or deny it. but right now we should focus more on the future."        

tears falling down her face, there was finally a sign of much more happy emotion than just nervousness and fear which completely caught her - a sign of relieved smile appeared on her face. “if you could, you'd even carry the baby for the whole nine months instead of me, right?” if it was somehow possible, she bet that he would suggest such a thing. "you would be the best mom a baby could wish for. definitely better than I'll ever be.” even though he didn't have a good relationship with his father, aubrey didn't see this as something bad what could devaluate his qualities as a parent. it wasn't like she would be a bad parent, but somehow she could imagine him more as an exemplary person who is aware of all responsibilities and who will be an example for another (little) human being. "okay, everything is going to be okay." she slightly nodded as she agreed with him. “"nothing is clear yet. this was just a first step. a lot of things can happen. everything happens for a reason. I don't know if we are destined to be together, but maybe we are destined to be parents to a little girl or a boy. they said they could give me a pill that could end this probable pregnancy but I don't want that. if it's going to happen then let it happen. I may not be the best mother but I will try and I want you by my side.” looking at him with those watery eyes, she closed them for a second and took a deep breath. "we will have a baby." whispered, as she breathed out and opened her eyes again, aubrey couldn't help but the corners of her lips formed into a cute and shy smile.

“I’m only dramatic for fun. You know I’m the furthest thing from a drama queen.” Luna cracked a grin before eying the mystery cocktail another time. “I totally trust you, but you even said you weren’t sure what was in it!” She chuckled wholeheartedly, stirring the straw before taking a small sip. A gentle hum teemed from Luna’s throat before she took another testing taste. “Actually, it’s pretty good. Maybe a little stronger than I was expecting, but you know I’m not going to complain about that! I would probably accidentally poison us both if I mixed one.” Luna chewed on the straw briefly as she danced around the following question. “So, how are you doing?”

"yeah, right." aubrey chuckled. "exactly as you said. you trust me so stop talking and start drinking." she instructed her with a gentle laugh.  watching her as she was tasting her bartending creation, a wide smile appeared on her face when she said it was good. "see? I told you. maybe I've been standing on the bad side of the bar my whole life. maybe I should become a bartender." obviously, she was just joking. unfortunately, this relaxed tone in the voice suddenly disappeared. "you don't know that? jonas must have told you. we broke up."

           BLUEBELL MADONNA wasn’t being herself lately. She was feeling suffocating again, and having a lot of anxiety meaning she was acting a lot self-destructive. At the least, her own father won the presidency of Italy again, so now the pressure on her to be perfect only increase. She was sure that meeting Aubrey would only be great. They had nice time when they first met. She brought her things and bottle of wine, straight from Italy. ❛ Oh, hi! ❜ She greeted her kissing her both side of her cheeks, and hugged her awkwardly handing the wine she brought. ❛ Brought this from my country. I hope you like it. ❜ She said, with a soft smile on her rosy lips. She was spammed of loaded of questions that she try to responding each of them. ❛ I’m a little exhausted but excited to be here, I don’t think I have much issues, I mean, not me but my driver. ❜ She flipped her platinum blonde hair hair with the back of her hand. ❛ Okay, good. Where do I put my backpack? And where to start?! ❜

"you brought an italian wine? what kind of question is that? of course I like it, I'm thrilled. actually, we should open it and drink it together. I assume that since you come from a place where wine is one of the country's greatest prides, we should drink something on the level. I'll keep my cheap wine for the evenings I spend alone." aubrey chuckled as they both headed to the living room. "you can leave your backpack over there on the chair. "you can sit comfortably on the sofa meanwhile I bring the glasses and all the goodies." she said as she put the bottle of wine on the table and went to the kitchen. "was something important in italy that you have to flew there? or was it just a regular visit?"

“Outside? That sounds like a story bound to be told.” Bea grinned at the woman, raising her glass in return before taking a sip. She really needed that drink- or ten. “If I ever say no, just shoot me, seriously. Who’d ever decline that kind of offer?” She raised a brow, playing along. “I’d say it’s a pleasure, but we’ll see about that. I’m Bea.”

aubrey smiled widely. she likes meeting new people. naturally, she was a sociable person. "yes, exactly." nodding, she joked. "it's nice to meet you bea. do you come here often? because there is a group of man behind you who have been watching you since you came. it seems like they know you."
