I would like murderbot to meet another SecUnit with a hacked governor module but neither of them know the other is hacked until they both disobey a direct order at a critical moment and they both spiderman pointing meme
Most importantly I want the pov to alternate between the two and both of them to be like what's this guys problem about each other

confession: while reading the murderbot diaries i only remembered three names (Murderbot, ART, and Three)
#prev#soo true lmao#i have an audio processing disorder to the point of not understanding even a few minutes of an audiobook unless i Really focus#and realise i'm mentally in another galaxy half an hour later anyway#books i'm usually better but i binge-read the series like a starving anaconda laying its eyes on a young supple kitten for the first time i#its predacious snake life#and really it's murderbot's fault for turning off its attention the second one of the humans blinks it's very distracting!!#AND i'm a dumdum on top of that#and i didn't even kidnap death to be saddled with this lifestyle

This is a Moving Forward PSA for everyone using AO3. I am witnessing the results of a culture clash and communication failure. Not a lack of communication, but a misunderstanding caused by changes in fandom culture.
Before fic tagging was common, fics weren’t tagged. You had a pairing, if applicable, an author’s note about genre or general content, and if they were feeling charitable, a vague content warning. There are even a few genres of fic where even vaguely tagging literally spoils the plot and impact (such as horror, psyche thriller, in which the likely content is implicit to the genre). As a result, there is a basic category tag that permits this, as a courtesy to “old-fashioned” writers.
“No Archive Warnings Apply” means the fic is PG13 at worst, probably fluff, totally safe.
“Choose Not to Use Archive Warnings” is the polar opposite. It’s a glaring Enter at Your Own Risk billboard. It means: a shitload of warnings apply but I ain’t telling because this story requires shock value. It’s very important to read the author’s notes for those fics because they might be using that older format from above.
But without the context of fandom culture that generated AO3, it’s understandably easy to conflate the two categories, given their similar wording.

Do I want to verify my age?? No, I don’t. You are a random overseas company and I don’t want to give this information to you!!
The UK government knows how old I am, because I have a UK birth certificate, a driver’s license and a passport. They don’t need me to confirm this information, because it’s not them - it’s a private third party company. And I’m not giving this information to a private third party company, because think about how many fucking data leaks there’s been. I also personally paid for the phone and wifi network that this channel is being accessed on. You know this, UK government, because minors can’t sign contracts for either of those things.
And, love and light? I don’t give a shit about what your kids might access, because that is your job as a parent: parent them. Me accessing… not even 18+ websites, but whatever website this fucking law decides is “adult content” - but also explicit content is fuck all to do with you. In the nicest way possible, I do not care about protecting your child, because that is your job, as their parent. This shouldn’t fall on to other people. And even if I did want to look at hardcore porn, it is not my problem, nor the problem of any other adult, if your kids stumble across that. Teach them internet safety. Have open and honest conversations with them about it.
But don’t make it the problem of other adults. Parent your children. Don’t make other adults have to give random companies access to their IDs to look at Wikipedia. Peace out.

No, I would not steal a car. However, if I had the ability to create a copy of someone's car that I could have for free while the other person retained their original car, I would definitely do that.
