Hadestown and cyclical stories stuck in the brain after watching West side story the other night and thinking about how Romeo and Juliet have a similar story. Not only of doomed lovers but of being told a thousand times, names and body’s change but the love remains.

It’s been asked before but do you think, just maybe they’re a little tired? Or is it enough to replay the sweet, private moments knowing you’ll get them again?

Anyway- They get a double date out of the fucking narrative with Orpheus and Eurydice. No retellings for two years they’re at the beach!!!👏

Absolutely obsessed with the fact the What’s on Stage rated Hadestown 4 starts for not having a happy ending the reviewer hoped for and getting immediately ratio-ed on Twitter for having no media literacy xD

But truly it’s such a brain dead take when the first thing the musical tells you is “it’s a sad song, it’s a tragedy and we sing it anyway”. Literally the whole point of Hadestown that you know from the very beginning that it’ll end tragically, yet in the process of watching the show you literally forget that warning because you believe that this will be the time when it works out! And yet you still tell this story anyway!

Like idk how hard it is to get that meaning when the musical literally tells you that in plain text

Orpheus would say something that sounds like an incredibly cheesy pickup line but mean it so earnestly. Or he’d not understand the point of them/realize what he’s implying.
