yo hey US people who sent in absentee ballots, they are tossing mail-in ballots for no reason. i just had to call my county board of elections and demand a cure for my ballot because north carolina didn't send out any notices of issues with ballots, and the issues are fake. if you voted by mail-in make sure your ballot was actually counted

maybe it’s just my ex-catholics vibes, but the way evangelical christian circles treat mother mary and mary magdalene always rubbed me the wrong way.
their roles as disciples of christ are often so shamelessly downplayed that it’s laughable.
mary magdalene is never given any mention outside of “whore who closed her legs and repented” despite being one of jesus’ closest disciples and the first one to be notified that christ had risen. not to mention the belief that she was a prostitute before becoming a disciple is not biblically supported.
mary the mother gets the same treatment— albeit a further fall from grace given how highly regarded she is in catholicism. evangelicals remove every trait from mother mary except for her submission and willingness to get pregnant. they never talk of her anguish at the cross, or her hand in jesus’ ministry. they also shame the concept of veneration towards her. they teach that she was not born without sin, she was not assumed into heaven, and she cannot intercede on behalf of people who pray for her. she is essentially stripped of her title as “queen of heaven”. she’s just some woman who god picked to bear his child. there was nothing special about her and she receives no title or reward for her unimaginable struggle.
these women, and others like them, travelled alongside jesus and his apostles for their ministry journey. yet, you would never know according to evangelical teaching.
at the end of the day, catholicism is sexist as hell— but at least it gives mother mary and mary magdalene the honor and attention they deserve.

being an ex catholic is like, i grew up in this community. i never felt at home in it. now that i’m in the process of officially breaking away i can’t help but wonder if leaving was the right decision for me. i know that leaving was the right decision for me. i never want to set foot in a church again, and yet i can’t help but feel drawn to the artistic beauty of cathedrals. i think i believe in guardian angels. i’m not sure i ever believed in god. if god is real he will have a lot to answer for when i am dead. i’m no longer terrified of hell, because i think i’d prefer an afterlife separated from god to no afterlife at all. i’m scared of what comes next. i don’t want to die. i am so, so angry at everyone who’s hurt me and my friends in the name of eternal life.

True martyrdom.
I know that this is probably horrible to say, but I desperately need to get out this anger.
Sometimes I just look at these Christians and how they just keep making the world worse and worse and I just get so fucking angry I find myself wanting to maul something. Not even jus something, it’s them. Plain and simple, I want to maul them.
I want to take these whiny little babies who have never known a single day of oppression and remind them what true martyrdom is. I want them to come face to face with how cushy they have it and beg for mercy like we must over and over and over from them. I want them to never receive that mercy too. I want them to hurt like we do at their hands.
I know how edgy atheist™️ this whole thing sounds, and I’m sorry. I think I’m beginning to realize that I’ve been running on anger ever since I left the church and it’s gotten me nowhere. It helped me survive catholic school though, and I don’t know what to do without it. Do y’all have any advice on how to deal with this? I feel really lost.

I’ve been thinking about cyberpunk’s fixation on the Ship of Theseus “how much of a human can you replace until they stop being human” and it all comes down to ableist bullshit, I hate it so much
We are done with examining the ship of Theseus, it’s finished now.

GLaDOS is literally the funniest character ever. Her arc culminates in her saying "I hate you so much it's not even worth the trouble of killing you, so just fucking LEAVE. And on your way out here's a full choir to sing 'Goodbye My Darling,' an Aria I wrote in Italian about how I love you and want you to be safe, which mentions you by name. Don't read into it. Get the fuck out. And here, something to remember me by: a box with a heart on it. Leave." to a woman who has literally never responded to anything she's ever said

One will admit to a certain sympathy to the situation of christian empathy for exchristians. It's hard to see something that you see as helpful or beautiful be used to cause others great pain.
One does, however, have an issue with their "apologies".
Christianity itself is the basis for the pain we exchristians went through. You cannot say "some" or "many" or "a few" or "certain" or "other" christians hurt us & used the faith to hurt us.
There are issues endemic to christianity which caused us to be hurt. There are no "some" beliefs: the very basis of christian faith itself causes issues. Hell. Sin. Considering self sacrifice a virtue. Misogyny. Racism & ableism. Unhealthy parent-child and lover-lover relationships. Slavery endorsement. The story of the christ itself - the unjust belief that one man's death can forgive another's misdeeds.
What is left of the faith once you've deconstructed all of that? Shattered concepts, mostly. A record of some genealogy. The golden rule, maybe. Nothing that couldn't be found elsewhere.
Christianity is the issue. This will keep happening to people for as long as the religion exists. One wishes it weren't this way, but it is.
