"Well, that is what happens when someone gets to know a person rather well," Luc pointed out, his head tilting. He wanted Matt to be honest and the feelings were there but he just wasn't ready to jump into something. "I can say that," he argued. "You have very little faith in me, don't you? If I say something, I mean it and you should know that by now, Matt."
"sometimes i hate that you know me so well." matt mutters back at being called out, chuckles slightly. more nervous and flustered. the embarrassment of rejection was there and though luc was telling him that things weren't going to be ruined, he still can't help but feel like it might. the usual confidence he carried was no where to be seen in that moment. "you can't say that.

Mercury's brow arched, of course she was going to take up that offer. How could she refuse? "Mmm, to see you let down your guard a bit is too intriguing to pass up, sounds like a plan to me." Listening to him, she shook her head. "No, because you can carve out a niche for yourself with that. There aren't any other photographers in this city that do burlesque shoots, as long as you don't charge a insane amount more then you don't have anything to worry about."
"eh, i have fun, i promise. i'm just quiet. maybe we could go out for a few drinks, and you could watch me let my hair down?" henry asked with a soft smile, his own little way of asking to spend more time with the woman. "that's a good idea. a good way to start? then, once i establish myself, i can charge a little more? is that capitalist as fuck of me?" he joked with a chuckle. "you would do that for me?"

Alek could understand it. It was almost like the relationship with his father - while he didn't care for what he did there was a part of him that loved him still, despite not wanting to. There was a tether and Lestat was their father in a sense, was he not? "As long as it remains a platonic interest, I'm pleased with that."
Alek did enjoy Claudia, the little mischievous devil that she was and he would more than likely find it amusing when she'd eventually tell him off. "Well, most of the time they could be right, maybe you stopped me from doing something bad," he shrugged. Alek had been rather bored after all, there was no telling what he would do with the rest of the night if Louis hadn't come along. He noted the slight change in Louis's demeanor but said nothing, instead, he just took Louis's hand in his and started towards the door. "Sounds like a perfect idea. I promise to behave myself."
Although he had been turned very much into a loner, the solitude was not something Louis preferred. Perhaps that was why he was there? To ward off some of that suffocating loneliness? "Not of my own choosing, but it's certainly how he's made me feel..." Louis felt like he was revealing hidden parts with that confession, half wished he could take it back. But, if anyone could understand, he hoped it was Alek. "Trust me, you wouldn't be here if he didn't have an interest in you..."
Louis cocked his head to the side, a small smile on his lips even as he shook his head in disbelief. "Let her catch you, and I'm sure she will do just that." Hands on his hips, the older vampire regarded the newer. "I get bad feelings often — I suppose they don't always turn out to be anything." He shrugged then, his smile a little more reserved, a little shier. Clearing his throat, Louis stepped forward. "Well, it's a beautiful night, maybe we can go for a walk?"

That was what friends did, in her experience, they embraced everything about the other person. It wasn't like he didn't embrace some of her odd little quirks and things that she liked and said. "C'mon, Bowie, you don't make that many mistakes though when you do, they are quite the doozy so yeah, make that mental note." It took a lot for her to get mad too. Normally she'd just roll her eyes at him and give him a look that rang of her disappointment. "Who knew that Bowie Munson would turn out to be a romantic. You're doing a fine job babe, no pointers just yet but if I do think of something then I will definitely let you know. Anything else up your sleeve aside from the flowers?"
Bowie's grateful for Araceli for a multitude of different reasons. More often than not he appreciates the way she gives him space to be himself while also challenging him to be the best man he can be. All of his quirks are taken on seemingly without issue. "Gotcha, I'll make a mental note about that. My next fuck up will include black roses," he said with a nod, intending to keep his word. "Nah, you didn't miss anything, I just wanted to make you smile. There aren't any strings attached or ulterior motives." Bowie's hand caresses her face as he speaks, his affection for her evident just in the way he looks at her. Ari is the best part of him in every way. "I've heard that boyfriends are supposed to do nice things for their partners so I'm trying to step up my game. Got any suggestions for me?"

Andi's mind was buzzing. This was amazing and something right up her alley. She should have asked all this before going in but she just wanted to hang out with Johnny and this place seemed juicy, despite the malfunctions. "Right, it's not but you have one of those old-school cameras right? Before things went digital? What if we take that along as a second camera? Maybe they can't manipulate that? And hey, if we capture something, even better. My Andi senses are telling me that someone wants to talk and something's stopping them."
“Hey, I’m not saying that I believe any of that. But they needed to come up with a good excuse as to what happened. Most of the people that were involved were gone, and they were hoping someone would buy the location… Obviously, that didn’t work,” Johnny said, since they were so desperate as to have a documentary made about the place. But only if they ignored some of the weirder stuff that happened there. Or skated by it. “I don’t know if that’s what’s messing with the camera, but I’m a little worried that it is. Because the only people that wouldn’t want that story told, are not the people whose bodies were found in the walls. They’re the people that put them in the walls.”

Gaten really only had interactions with customers that came into the shop, that was about as much interaction as he cared to have with groups of people and even that was sometimes pushing it. However, he was going to try this for Alyx. If it didn't work out, at least he could say that he did in fact try his best. "I am very proud of you for that," he said before he was led into the crowd, swallowing as his eyes darted around but his own hand was gripping onto Alyx. "Which place are we hitting up first?"
Alyx wished he had the magic touch to just poof! all of Gaten's anxieties away. He was naturally outgoing and relished in the presence of others. He was learning a lot about how to best support Gaten and not overwhelm the poor man. If this got to be too much they'd leave and Alyx wouldn't complain about it one bit. "I fucking hope not. I'll hold you extra tight, just in case. As for my phone..." Alyx used his free hand to pull his phone out of his pocket and he proudly turned it towards his partner. "I sure fucking did! This will probably be the first and last time I remember to do it so be proud of me." The phone was put away before Alyx gently steered them into the chaos, his grip on Gaten tightening like he promised.

MJ had two loving parents, who loved each other unconditionally but she'd never really wanted to be a mom. Taking care of another person and making sure they had everything they needed when she barely took care of herself? That was terrifying. Her parents were great but that didn't mean that she would be a good one. His little pep talk to her that she would be a good one just made her lips twitch slightly into a smile before it was gone. "I don't want to get rid of it," she said firmly. Even if she was scared, she was going to have it and while the thought of helping a family have a child that they couldn't have on their own was slightly appealing, it was something that she knew she'd regret later down the line and the other option was definitely out of the question."You promise you're not going to leave?"
Was he a guy that didn't want a kid? Agustin wasn't entirely sure. Sure, he never envisioned himself as a father, nor did he ever crave becoming one. And he certainly didn't have a blueprint for how to be a good one since his own parents were nonexistent. Years of messy foster families didn't exactly equip him with the tools to go out and make his own family. But it had happened, MJ was really pregnant. And as scary as it was, he also wasn't upset about it, not really. "Who says you're going to fuck up? You're a strong and capable woman, I have no doubt in my mind you'll make an amazing mother. And you're not going to be doing it alone - I'm with you on this." Agustin paused, his features twisting for a moment. "You also don't have to stay pregnant if you don't want to. You have options that I'm willing to work through with you."

"I've defended worse," she teased but it was the truth. Claudia had taken cases that not many would try to defend. "I always take the cases that lean towards people who are the underdog. I work a lot with the LGBTQ+ community," she explained, hoping that gave him some insight that she wasn't afraid to stand up for anyone. "I happen to love the outdoors as long as I'm not around a bunch of people. I don't like big crowds."
"you've got a good point there. i didn't want this to happen this time, even if rejection truly sucks. i guess it's all part of being human, though. not everyone is going to like you." wyatt was sure glad that claudia seemed to at least enjoy talking to him, and he looked forward to picking her brain a little bit more. "i picked the right one to get to know. i hope you're okay with defending a nerdy, soft man who struggles to argue with someone without stuttering," he joked with a sweet smile. wyatt approved of the drink, his eyes practically lighting up as he took a sip before turning his attention back to her. "well, that depends. do you like the outdoors? it's beautiful this time of year. we could do a picnic or go hang out at the lake? if you're more of a homebody, i can think of something for that, too."

"Raven might, but he won't show it even if he does like you at the end of it, he'll just say he tolerates you," she laughed but given her last relationship, she understood why Raven was so hard on people Dusty brought home. "Awww babe that's the sweetest thing anyone's ever said to me." Which was the truth. It meant a lot that he wanted her to meet his parents. That was a huge step. "I'd love that, I can get some time off, I have a bit of paid time off, just tell me when."
"oh, i think i'll be okay. he might give me a bit of a hard time, but i think he could learn to love me. plus, he knows how happy you are, right?" ethan smiled sweetly, his hands running up and down her arms in an affectionate manner. "you have a point. i just - i guess i never thought i'd capture the attention of my literal dream girl, but... more than anything, you're my person." dusty was great at giving him new ways to look at things, and provided him with a light in his life he didn't even realize he needed. "i think it's time you met my mom, dad, and little brother. what would you say to that? we could go out of town for a few days? i promise, they aren't intimidating at all. my dad is a big goofball, and my mom is an angel."

Ri did try to not be so concerned with work but he was always worried about making sure that money was saved and that his mom was taken care of. He did know Ren was always trying to get him to do something for himself so this was giving into that. "Well, I suppose I could take a couple days more if needed - depending on how I'm feeling we may do just that. I'm looking forward to it though, i do rather enjoy going places there aren't going to be a ton of people. Thank you for suggesting it. I will attempt to keep off my phone but naturally we'll have to check in with mom once a day, you know how she is."
Ren grinned widely at Ri as the other agreed to the vacation destination. "I'm sure you'll love it. Once we're there, our options are almost limitless. I can take you places tourists don't usually get to see..." They promised with a twinkle in their eyes. They quickly booked the tickets before Ri could change his mind. "We'll spend at least two of those days traveling, but I won't nitpick! I'm just glad you're taking any time to yourself."

She would never fault Ez for his transgressions. Lord knows she had a few things that she did that weren't exactly wonderful but he seemed to be trying to make amends for things if people would just let him. "Maybe you have but at least you still have some smarts left up there. Somewhere." When he said that Sasha had been sweet, she choked on her drink and laughed. "Oh babe, those are two words I never thought that I would hear in a sentence together. But alright, you butter him up and make him nice and docile for the dinner and things will go great."
At the playful insult, EZ barked out a laugh — genuine and bright. Shaking his head, the crooked grin on his lips wouldn't quit, either. "Well, the brain's another story. 'Fraid I've fried up all the useful bits." It was half tease, half confession. Mercury knew all the sides of EZ, though, and he wasn't afraid to be self-deprecating in her presence. "Sasha will be a good boy, I can promise that..." EZ said, knowing he was getting ahead of himself because NO ONE could make Sasha do anything. He just hoped his lover would behave — for him. "He's been real sweet lately." At least for Sasie's standards.
#your numbers queued#sasha is like I CAN BE SWEET WHEN I WANT TO BE#and Merc's just like sure blondie whatever you say

Maybe MJ liked being a lone wolf, saved from hurting anyone or getting hurt in return. Her mouth always got her in trouble one way or another anyway, why put someone through that? Jae was probably the only person that MJ was close to and she meant what she said, she would try with Jae if she ever got to that point. "Well, a little is a victory that I'll take, heaven forbid I break my best friend's heart." MJ couldn't really dance? But she moved around to the music, doing her best to not look like a fool.
Jaeleah knew how Mary Jane perceived herself and knew there was nothing she — or anybody else, for that matter — could do to change that opinion. It was on MJ to realize she was so much more than what her brain told her she was. Swaying a little to the music, Jae turned back toward the blonde when her shirt was tugged. The confession made her smile, and she nodded her head, pressing both her hands to her chest. "Helps heal the wounds a little." She teased then grabbed both of MJ's hands to force the other young woman into dancing.

Jonah was reserved, he wasn't one to really voice his feelings on matters when it came to what was going on with his life but he was different with Daphne, mostly because she could see right through him most of the time. It was nice to have someone who understood he couldn't always voice what he was going through. "To start, just a splash, I'm sure I'll wind up having a shot of something stronger later." Knowing him, when he had time to really delve into his thoughts on the matter. "They did offer me to take longer if I wanted, but with the term coming to a close, I felt it would be a dishonor to the students that are actually there to learn to ditch them so close to their finals."
Of course the universe would give them bad days at the same time. Not that it was fair to compare but Jonah had a rougher go at it, which made it even easier for Daph to focus her energy on him and making him feel better. It wasn't that she was bottling, per se. Helping him would help soothe her too, after all. "When you say 'a splash' do you mean that literally? Nothing too strong for you?" she questioned as she made her way to their options for alcohol. Daphne was probably going to make a simple cocktail like a rum and coke so it didn't clash with their dinner. "I'm so fucking glad they gave you a day, that seems only fair, all things considered. I wouldn't blame you if you requested a proper leave over it all."

Aiden knew that his parents wanted him to be active and social and Aiden was, for the most part but not as social as his sister. She was the shining star of everything. "Hot surgeon man, God, next you're going to be calling me McSteamy or something of that moniker," he teased, smiling. He would manage, move things around if he had to if it kept her happy without making his work suffer. "Ah, of course you are, I figured as a woman, you would have something in your head of what to do. My idea was just going for sushi and having some balloons there."
"oh well, i guess that's just the passing of time. every generation is critical of the one after it," savannah smiled and shrugged her shoulders. she didn't mean to sound like a total grandma, but she definitely noticed the changes of how she was as a child and her students at that same age. "you're sweet, i'd love that. i love every chance i can get to spend time with my hot surgeon man," she gushed sweetly. it was clear to anyone with eyes how much she loved him. her eyes further lit up at his next words, nodding immediately with excitement. "that would be great! i'm so happy for her, and i'm sure she'd love a little celebration. i'm already going through all the ideas of how to make it a fun party."

"Face swapping, okay, that would be interesting. Possibly. I just pray it's a pretty face and not either one of those because they aren't the least bit attractive to me," his nose scrunched before shrugging his shoulders. "It is what it is, you know? Some people just naturally suck but as long as I have a job where some people are happy, that's all that matters. I have a job, a roof over my head, and other people tend to feed me - I'm good." He liked the simple things in life and he really didn't need all too much. "Pfft, yes, I'm your knight in shining armor for the day, Princess."
"Oh god, that hurt to hear, babes. I would hate to see something so devastating happen to you. I was thinking more along the lines of that Nicholas Cage movie where he swaps faces with John Travolta? I don't fucking know man." Seeley erupted in laughter at both of their antics. Fools. He sobers up pretty quickly though, as soon as Alek talks about his shitty tips. "Ew, what the fuck? People suck shit sometimes. I'm sorry to hear it... You've got a lot of self control for just taking that disrespect. I'd lose it on them if it happened to me." But Seeley also happened to be an emotional person who struggled to keep himself in check when he got worked up. He could be scrappy - something they definitely didn't have in common. "Awww, my hero! You're gonna dote on me, how fucking sweet is that?" The blond leaned more into his friend, shameless in his desire to be closer to him. If Alek had a problem with it he'd tell him, right?

Jordan didn't exactly have the best life, or the easiest, but believing in certain things had given him a hopeful outlook on life and got him through some of the struggles that he dealt with. He wished sometimes he could open up to Micah about them but every time that he had went to, he pulled back and changed the subject. "People love me, but it's not the kind of love that you know is unconditional, you know? It's the love as in like, they like you, they're there but they're not the ones that if something happens to you and you need them, they'd drop everything to be there. Am I making sense?" His brow furrowed a bit before wrinkling his nose. "You know, single life's not so bad - I'm fine with it being like this for the time being. Besides, if someone starts taking up all my time, who's going to be there for you when you need to be reminded to take a break?"
Jordan was the type of person who believed emphatically in the things he believed in, and no one respected that more than Micah. They were alike in their resolve, and Micah had to admit that it did certainly feel as if they'd been friends forever and ever.... that was something to think about next time they sparked up, though. "Oh, come on, now! I'm not the only one! Who wouldn't love you?" They asked as they pulled Jordan down into a headlock, rubbed their knuckles against his skull like a noogie before letting him go again, laughing all the while. "You won't be single forever, mate — who could resist a catch like you?"
