lil sumn i wrote bc i got the King in the King, Solider, Poet quiz.

With rigid back and steady hands, I can guide you to a safer place. I can heal what was broken. My fingertips were blessed with the touch of gold. I kiss the unworthy and warm the freezing. But as the sun sets, what is left for me?

I've bent myself out of shape and my hands quake with the simple act of lifting them. My eyelids beg for rest, but when i lay, the Atlas of my mind cannot withstand the weight of my thoughts.

I stalk along my trophies of broken lovers, each heart frozen in time with gold after daring to touch mine. The affirmations of worthiness get caught in my throat as I stare at my shattered reflection. I am a corpse of the woman I once was, pupptered to dance for my people. My body feels cold, running only on generations of rage and lust.

And as the sun rises, I cannot find the beauty in the array of colors. Many say it's beautiful, but how can I see when my world is greyscale? How do I know there's a god when my head is adorned with a crown of thorns each morning? How do I know I'll be saved when I carry my worries like Christ's cross, all the way to my deathbed.

I was nurtured by the throne, and I will die upon its freezing seat. There's no time to feel the chill as the first person areives of take their piece of me to fill their own void. I wonder if there's a heart that beats between my ribs, or if it's a parasite sitting dormant until it's my time to die.
