evening beach walks
Tumblr media
Feine sighed, dressed in one of her best outfits- a white, formal button-up top with long sleeves, paired with a gray coat and an ocean blue skirt which faded to a glittery evening gold.
She glanced at the setting sun, internally fretting. "Is it not 6.30pm? Did that- that commoner dare to lie to the Heir Princess of the Veruzeia Kingdom?" She fumed, chewing her bottom lip in burning anticipation and worry.
"Ah, I’m so sorry I'm late!" Feine's eyes widened in surprise, quickly spinning around to meet eyes with Cerine. A wave of relief took over Feine's heart, before her breath hitched again when she noticed what Cerine was wearing.
A flower-patterned top, as well as a pair of frayed, white shorts. Feine cleared her throat, averting her eyes to the red roses of the royal garden rather than the more beautiful sight of Cerine.
Quickly, she took off her own coat and held it towards Cerine, gesturing for her to pick it up and wear it so she could cover her skin from any prying eyes.
"Oh! How chivalrous! But, I don’t think I’ll need it where we’re going!" Cerine giggled, before grabbing Feine's wrist and dragging her to some unknown place, as Feine was only beginning to process Cerine's words.
As soon as she realised what Cerine said, her face exploded into violent hues of cherry-red. No, stop! You’re a Princess, remember! You have your pride! You wouldn’t ever consider even touching this commoner willingly, would you? She thought to herself, huffing in pride as she tried -and failed- to rub the burning tomato-red colour off her cheeks.
Suddenly, Cerine let go of Feine’s wrist which caused her to fall to the ground. Feine groaned, her puppy-crush embarrassment quickly turned to her signature anger, as she whipped her head around to chastise the daring commoner who even dared to lay a finger onto her.
"How dare you stain my arms with your dirty hands! Do you even know who you're grabbing so recklessly? Now look at this mess you've created!" She berated the girl.
"Sorry, sorry! But, look around to where we are! Isn't it pretty?" Cerine smiled bashfully, before gesturing around them. They were at the beach, the one closest to the palace. Indeed, it was pretty... though she wondered what business they would be having here.
"And for the second activity so far, we'll be taking a nice stroll along the beach!"
Soon enough, they were walking along the beach, drenched in the evening sun's fading glory, loosely holding hands- much to Feine's embarrassment.
"Don't think I forgot about you basically catapulting me to the sand!" Feine huffed proudly. "Ah, I'm so sorry for that! Pleasedontfireme."
Feine's lips perked up, smiling mischievously. "Maybe I will, not a bad idea. Punishing others is what I live for, after all!" Cerine's face quickly turned pale, stuttering out endless strings of aplologies.
"Oh, relax! I was merely jesting!" Feine chuckled. "But why did you choose to have a walk by the beach as our activity?" She tilted her head in curiousity.
"Oh, I guess I just thought it would be fun! It's what I do whenever I feel stressed. One of my more prominent theories as to why you are, well, the way that you are, is that you're so stressed you lash out at people!"
Cerine explained carefully, taking great caution in not angering the Princess, who was basically her employer and could decide to fire her.

flower crown
Tumblr media
Feine sighed as she sat down on the royal garden's grass. She stared blankly into the vivid setting sun as she took in the beautiful evening view of the barely visible stars poking out from behind the misty, translucent clouds.
"People don't give us Princesses enough credit. the common folk know naught of being constantly nitpicked by judging eyes and harshly berated if you picked the wrong fork for eating food. They get to love and laugh freely, but I’m to be engaged to some idiotic prince next month."
She sighed in exhaustion, back still aching from the harsh lessons she had to endure to become the perfect princess.
"Is that how you royalty see things these days?" An amused chuckle emitted from behind her, startling the 18 year old princess. Whipping her head around to scold the person for making fun of a Princess -and one who was next in line for the throne, at that!- she was stunned when she met gazes with the unfamiliar figure.
She took in all their prominent features rather quickly as she at them quietly, analytically looking at them from head to toe. They had short, wavy sky blue hair, with cerulean eyes that looked like a clear sky on a sunny day. Their smile was impish, teeth poking out behind her cherry pink lips. She looked around Feine's own age, or possibly older.
A red blush quickly painted Feine's cheeks, as her eyes darted all around the place to avoid any possible eye contact with the beautiful stranger. Suddenly, a hearty laugh erupted from the stranger, which pulled her from her thoughts back into reality.
"Ah, you royals have grown soft, haven’t ya!" Her grin was cheerful, and full of mischief.
"The fact that you use the phrase, 'the common folk', shows how detached you are from society, no? But seeing as you very clearly need help, and I’m on the verge of losing my job anyway, I’ve got an idea!" She patiently picked some citrine-hued flowers from the garden's flowerbed.
"But on another note, you don't know who I am, do you?" She hummed in thought.
"Though I know who you are. Everyone does. The 'spoiled princess' Feine Relunir, who's always eager to gain, but never to give. To start, well, you've never noticed me, but I help maintain these gardens."
"I've worked here for about a few years, I suppose. I've grown fond of these dear flowers, watching them grow from buds to flowers. My name is Cerine, the Assistant Gardener.”
She turned her teasing gaze to Feine, handing her the flowers she had picked beforehand.
"And today's activity will be weaving flower crowns." Her eyes shone as her lips perked up to form a gentle grin.
Feine mustered up a smile, trying her best to match the energy of the undeniably friendly girl in front of her. Her cheeks ached from the simple task, as a result of not doing the action in so long. She hesitantly grabbed a few flowers, handling them with great care.
"And... pray tell, what exactly do I that now, Commo- I mean, Cerine?" Bad habits are hard to break, and that includes the mean name-calling she'd gotten so used to using.
"Simply wrap one stem around the flower of the next, pull both stems to the side, and add another. Wrap that stem around the first two, pull all three stems to the side, and continue. When the stems end, they will be woven into the line well enough to stay put."
Cerine slowly guided Feine's hands to perform the actions, and they soon formed a neat flower crown.
Feine stared at Cerine in amazement, watching her as Cerine glanced at the mixtures of vivid orange and dark grey in the sky, slightly panicking.
"Ahem, I have... 'commoner' tasks to get back to! Cleaning and all that, Princess Feine! See you soon! Please meet me here at 6.30pm tomorrow!" She hurriedly waved a goodbye at Feine, before rushing off.
After seeing Cerine's figure dissapear into the horizon, she uttered an unspoken thought.
"You can just call me Feine...." Before she realised what she said.
"What am I doing? I'm royalty! I'm a Princess! Commoners should only be allowed to address a Princess by her proper title!" She said, frantically trying to forget the slip-up she'd made. But before she could fret over her mistakes any longer, her mind was only occupied with a singular thought.
" I wouldn't mind... seeing her again. She seems nice... "

warm autumn
Tumblr media
“Do you really love me?” “Why wouldn’t I?”
Talia stared at the cloudless sky above, the vivid orange hues twisting with the cherry pink colours of the sky above, the moon barely visible.
Ah, it’s almost night… The evening will end rather quickly. Talia hated evenings, it reminded her of all the things she could have done during the day, of the whole day she had wasted and not lived to the fullest, of all the ways she was incompetent and could have worked harder.
Talia jumped when her cold hands were suddenly intertwined with Ari’s warm ones. She glanced over at Ari, flustered and dazed, only to be met with Ari’s signature mischievous grin.
Talia quickly turned her head back to the darkening sky, eager to welcome the dark to hide her growing blush.
“You’re amazing, you know.” Ari’s voice broke her from her daydream, welcoming her back into reality.
“You always help me with my chores, you always help to cook for me, and you were always the one supporting my dreams.” Ari’s eyes softened, and her usual impish grin turned to a more gentle one.
Ari turned her head to look at Talia. “And you were the one who was always there for me!” She hugged Talia, wrapping her arms against Talia’s flustered frame, resting her head on Talia’s chest.
“I love you, okay? Don’t forget it anytime soon!” Talia’s eyes widened in surprise, before her own eyes softened as well.
She planted a gentle, loving kiss on the shorter girl’s forehead, making Ari jump slightly in surprise before looking up to her. They both giggled softly, perfectly in tune, just like the duo themselves.
Talia cleared her throat, “We should be getting home now, it’s late.” She stared up at the grey, hazy sky, filled with twinkling stars. And so, hand-in-hand, they went home together.
“You’re the miracle I’ve been dreaming of.”

missing umbrella
Tumblr media
Rain trickled down the frosted windowpane, collecting and falling together. Mako sighed. Again, she had forgotten her umbrella, and she was sure that Riko, her best friend, wouldn’t lend hers to Mako again.
She dreaded the home-bell, in contrast to her classmates. When the bell rang, she would have to leave the comfy atmosphere of the classroom and face the cold, wet environment.
Where the heavy, gray clouds dripping with the freezing cold drops of water hung over the warm sunshine and blue skies she so longed for.
She would give anything to bask in the sunlights warmth once again. It was the dreaded rainy season, so she had not seen the sun for the last 12 days. 12 days! That was way too long for the sun to be away!
But there were a few upsides to rain Mako could think of off the top of her head:
The rain watered the plants outside for her, so her mother wouldn’t nag her to do so.
The cute froggies would come out in her backyard. Every time they did, she would give them food from her tiny insect enclosure.
It served as an outdoors air cooler, which made days without air-con slightly more bearable.
… and that was about it. Mako grabbed her book bag, ready to walk out of the class and dash through a sky which was going to machine-bullet her with freezing cold rain droplets. But suddenly, she noticed something underneath her desk that she’d not noticed before.
It was an umbrella with a note on it! Thank the gods for this kind person!!! Mako cried internally, opening the neatly-folded note and reading it’s contents.
“Dear Mako,
Riko tells me that you never bring your umbrella!
That’s worrying! Thank god I read the weather forecast in advance, so I was able to get you an umbrella.
Anyways, please think of this umbrella as a token of appreciation of what you did for me that day!
I’ll never forget your bravery and kindness that day! Thank you!
Regards,
Your grateful admirer!”
… what? Mako stared at the note in confusion, boring holes into each cursive letter. Bravery… kindness…? What did I do?! Mako gulped.
“Whatever, I’ll deal with that another day.” She sighed, gingerly keeping the note in her pocket. “I guess I’m happy to be able to go home. Thanks, whoever gave me this, I guess.”
Mako held the umbrella firmly in her hands, determined not to lose it. Mako quickly scanned the hallway, before dashing down the hallway to go home.
What she didn’t see, though, was a shy ginger-haired girl staring at her from the corner of the hallway.
“Hopefully she liked my gift! I mean, I don’t think I could ever repay her for saving me from my bullies…” The girl sighed before smiling happily.
“I’m glad I could help her, even if it was just a fraction of how much she helped me!” She giggled before grabbing her own bag and walking away.
