Me. I will sit on high-speed rail for fifteen hours. I’ll sit on it for days. I’ll write and read and nap and eat and then do it all over again. I’ll stare out the windows and see America from ground level and not have to drive. I’ll see the Rockies and the deserts and cornfields and the Mississippi River and your house and yours and yours too. I’ll make up stories in my head about the small towns I see as we go along. I’ll see the states I’ve yet to see because driving or flying there is a fucking slog and expensive to boot. I’ll enjoy the ride as much as the destination. And then I’ll do it all over again to come the fuck home.

it's always so fascinating and heartbreaking when a character in a story is simultaneously idolized and abused. a chosen prophet destined for martyrdom. a child prodigy forced to grow up too fast. a powerful warrior raised as nothing but a weapon. there's just something so uniquely messed up about singing someone's praises whilst destroying them.

In a previous post, I said I was analyzing the meet the mercs videos, so I'm gonna talk about spy real quick and ramble about how objectively better BLU spy is compared to RED spy.

In Meet The Spy, just to give some praise to both spy's, apparently spy's voice actor actually imitated scouts voice, so this pretty much implies that spy does all the voice work WITHOUT the help of a machine to change his voice.

So onto the actual video: RED spy, who we know is imitating scout (no this will not be tagged as a spoiler, you should know this already if you're reading this), didn't know the code to the intel room. Already a mistake on RED spy's part because he's a SPY, if he was as good as he claimed he was, he should've already known the code from having gathered intel ahead of time.

We know from BLU spy's monologue that RED spy had taken out all the other BLUs, and if we look specifically at where BLU sniper was killed, he was killed on the top story of the BLU base (this is important for later).

This isn't implied so much as its told to us: RED spy is much more adept at hand to hand, being much more bold then in the background like BLU spy. This is seen when RED spy pulls out melee when behind soldier during the code scene in the beginning, there'd be no reason to pull it out then unless he's going to use it to kill soldier.

So later when BLU spy comes in carrying snipers body, he would've had to go ALL the way to the top floors to bring snipers body back. Why would he do this? Because RED spys knife was in his back. He practically handed RED spy's knife back to him.

This mf KNEW who scout actually was this entire time the second he stepped into the room. And how he knew? The second scout/spy picked up his knife and apologized ("I killed a dime a dozen spys back in my day. Like you! Ow. No offence") BLU spy looked at him and KNEW that very second scout wasn't who he said he was. The scout he knew would never pick the knife up, nor would he APOLOGIZE.

Not to mention he circles scout/spy during the beginning of that monologue before he pulls out that yo mama joke. Everyone is surrounding scout/spy, unintentionally on heavy and soldiers part, but very intentional on BLU spys part. BLU spy isn't letting RED spy get behind anyone, not until that final scene where soldier shoots him, which is the only reason RED spy got away with it at all.

Honory mention before I end this analysis: BLU spy also managed to follow RED spy to scouts mothers house and take pictures of their fun time. If RED spy were as good as he says he was, he would've noticed if he was being followed.

Rewatching all the Meet The Mercs videos and analyzing them, I just realised how crazy strategic Scout is. He's even more intelligent then Spy in that manner.

In Meet The Scout, it opens with Scout analyzing the play field. He looks at where each opponent are, instantly draws out the weakness, and who, where, and how he'll go about this battle.

He first sees Sniper aiming somewhere else, then Spy, with Engineer running behind him, to the sentry that Engineer caught up with, and finally focuses in on Pyro and Soldier.

Instantly, INSTANTLY, he runs in, dodging all the turrets bullets and (who or what got the train moving, I don't know) but he lures Soldier and Pyro in front of it, killing them, before moving onto Spy and Sniper.

My man just 1v1'd almost the entirety of the BLU team.

And yet I still don't get why people think he's clueless or oblivious to stuff. Dudes obviously INCREDIBLY clever. He's just not book smart.
