oh shit, been a bit since i posted on here, let's see what's happened:
i got a new skirt! (massive gender euphoria) :3
finished 2/3 semester projects
started duolingo again
college reminded me that yes, they do, in fact, ignore any and all non-required work orders, even if they said they'd do it in 1-2 business days
and my partner and i's 4-months anniversary is in 4 days!
so yea, nothing too crazy, how are y'all?

HALT! Do you have sensory issues? Overwhelmed by sound in a messy environment? Desperately wanting to write that essay/fanfiction but your ADHD is getting on the way? In need of atmospheric sound for your tabletop game??
Please let me introduce you to MyNoise.net - a lifesaver on all aspects.
Mynoise provides an incredible index of noise machine generators with personalizing sliders to suit your every taste.
Missing the sound of a lively coffee shop during the pandemic? They have that. That specific, calming noise of a public park in a peaceful afternoon? they have that. Rain sounds? City sounds? Want to fuck around and listen to some uninterrupted Gregorian chants? They have that also!
According to the website:
“myNoise generators cover the whole audible frequency range, from 20Hz to 20kHz, over 10 color-coded sliders. Through a simple but accurate calibration process, all myNoise generators can be shaped to your personal hearing thresholds and compensate for your audio equipment and listening environment deficiencies, including the presence and nature of background noise. Calibration is unique to this website, and makes calibrated noise machines stand out from regular white noise machines. During the calibration process, we are able to measure your personal hearing levels, and adapt our noises accordingly. If you are suffering from age-related hearing, you’ll be surprised to hear frequencies you thought were lost.”
And that’s not all. When I say ‘incredible’ I really mean it; I’ve found myself using the website on multiple occasions, for work, creative and stress-related issues, and the variety of machines provided cannot be overstated. You’ve got animal noises, nature soundscapes, street sounds, meditation aids, melody-based lullabies, magical soundscapes, medieval ambiance, situation specific sounds, white noise generators– and a lot more!!! They even have noise to block out IRL sounds you don’t want to hear.
Just take a brief look at what the index page provides:
There’s something for EVERYONE. And it’s all for free! It’s been for free for years, and it is the creator’s wish that it remains accessible to everyone who might need this kind of aid in life. I am using it to write this post right now. Though if you read some of the above index, you may have noticed that the support for the website has been very low lately.
Which brings me to the reason I’m making this post. Mynoise is curated and maintained by a single person:
Please check out the Mynoise Index for yourself, donate if you can, and tell your friends who might be interested ♡

maybe it's just this one specific group, but everyone in my partner and i's friend group acts like a giant polycule. we all say that we (platonically, of course) love each other, we hang out in vc for hours yapping, it's really nice.
...that, or i've just had shit friends until now. dunno which, but it's too late in the day for that kind of introspection.

pmd but whatever higher power that pulled the hero into this world also made the process surprisingly gender affirming for her.
i had this in my brain as a silly idea and figured I'd actually turn it into a little one off thing.

having 3 midterms immediately follwing spring break defeats the purpose of spring break. my professors "explicitly designed" these courses so we "wouldn't have to study or do work over break" but here we are, the week after, with midterms. what was the point of the break, then?

the only thing keeping me from regularly crashing out in this computational methods and software class is the fact that my professor actually puts things in terms that i'm able to understand. i can't stand calculus usually, but this prof makes it a bit more enjoyable, somehow

new type of purgatory unlocked: waiting in an office for a meds check-in appt when you know damn well this could have been a zoom meeting like every other counselor at this campus does, but noooo, it has to be in-person because they have to make the eepy girl get out of bed. truly, a tragedy.

do y'all ever just like... fall asleep on a call with your partner while you're listening to them infodump about something that they're passionate about, because their voice is soothing and they make you feel safe?
no? just me?

I have a comp sci professor who's intentionally trained himself to call Windows "Winblows," and I think that really says something about this man's devotion to Linux. Then again, to him, Emacs is "The Text Editor We Do Not Name", so do with that info what you will

Hi everyone! I'm Asteria, I'm a Computer Science major working on my undergrad, as well as being an RA for my university. I speedrun Gravity Circuit (to occasional success) and play a variety of other games beyond that.
Outside of gaming and school, I'm learning more about tarot and witchcraft (so i can better understand my practice), and also trying to take time to learn more about myself and my identity (gods forbid a girl feel gender euphoria in this dystopian hellscape). I'm trying to get back into reading more often, but school and work make that difficult a lot of the time.
I'm often down to chat, so feel free to send me a message if you'd like!
<3,
Asteria
