Verb stem + やすい / Verb stem + にくい

verb stem + やすい：easy to do~ 

verb stem + にくい：hard/difficult to do~

change を to は or が

とうふははしで食べにくいです。 Tofu is hard* to eat with chopsticks. このシャツはとても着やすいです。 This shirt is very easy to wear. あの大学はあまり入りやすくないです。 That college is not that easy to get into. これは話しにくい問題です。 This is a hard problem to talk about. 先生の発音はとても聞きやすいです。 The teacher’s pronunciation is easy to understand.

Hello friends, I have an amazing drama recommendation for you!

Koisenu Futari (2022) is a Japanese drama centered around two aromantic asexual characters going through life. Only 2 episodes are out rn but they covered so many great topics and issues aroace people deal with (I cried like 50 times while watching them).

As most of you know, a-spec representation in media is almost non-existent and there are very few aroace characters in movies/tv-shows.

I'm asexual (and probably aromantic or demiromantic, I'm not sure yet), and for me, it was really hard to find that out. Why? Because no one is talking about it.

First time I heard the term asexual was when I read Alice Oseman's Loveless and Radio Silence. I didn't know such term existed, I didn't know some people felt the same as I do.

I thought I was weird or broken or whatever because most of the characters you see in tv shows and movies (or people irl) have met their soulmates or are in love with someone or want to have sex with someone.

Everyone talked about sexual attraction and I didn't understand what they meant. I thought that if you think someone looks pretty to you, you are sexually attracted to them. But that's not it and no one explains that to you.

This is why I loved this drama so much. In just 2 episodes they covered topics such as feeling broken, googling stuff like "I can't fall in love, what is wrong with me?", being happy when you discover the terms asexual and aromantic, and meeting another a-spec people. Also the pressure society and family put upon you (When will you find someone, when will you marry, how many kids are you going to have, you are useless if you don't have all of these), even though you don't want that.

It made me so happy to watch this and I honestly can't wait to see what they'll do in the next episodes.

If you are on the ace spectrum or are questioning, this is the perfect drama for you! I hope a lot of people will discover this post and drama and enjoy watching it.

what i've learned from one year in uni

...as a humanities student focussing on languages and history.

do all your readings at least a week in advance. honestly a lifesaver. make a list of the readings you'll need to have done for the next week and divvy them up along the current week.

annotate your readings. either by hand, or download them, import to a pdf annotation app (or just google drive) and make comments/highlight important parts,

don't sign up for early or late classes, especially if you're a commuter. i signed up for a 9-11 AM class and a 6-8 PM class and they were both hell even if I enjoyed the material. Don't do it.

join the class group chat. if there isn't one, make one. you might not think you need it, but you do, you really do.

if you can't get yourself to do the whole reading, read the first sentence of every paragraph. listen, we've all been there when the reading is 36 pages and you're just not feeling it. most well-written academic articles start with a topic sentence that will give you a sense of the general direction of the work, so skimming the first sentence of each paragraph can actually equip you better than nothing for your discussions.

the syllabus is your bible. read it THOROUGHLY at the beginning of term and reference it CONSTANTLY.

skip lectures. NEVER skip tutorials. it's better to not skip lectures either but sometimes they're just not helpful. but ALWAYS go to tutorial.

find out your task capacity and worship it. i can't allocate myself a certain number of hours of work a day because sometimes i can work for 10 hours and sometimes i can barely focus for two. however, i can generally manage around 5 academic tasks a day. so I'll allocate myself two readings, an outline, a draft and a note-taking session and that works pretty well for me.

What happens if you fail a class/course? Hint: you will live!

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while now and I think this is the perfect moment since I had my own time to cope with this experience.

Failing a class or course at university can be a really nightmare but it’s something that sometimes it’s out of our control. You might be dealing with health issues or family problems. You can be juggling work and school while working. Or simply you didn’t understand your professor or the course itself. 

Something that my friends told me when I failed a class during my past semester was that I shouldn’t think I’m not smart enough and that I shouldn’t feel like I failure because not passing a class it’s more normal than society wants us to believe. It happens to everyone and it could happen when we less expect it. Like it happened to me (a fourth year undergrad student. oops) so yes… at first I felt like a disappointment to my family and friends and well, to myself. But then I asked myself: What now? What am I supposed to do? And I realized that failing one course didn’t mean anything. I just have to retake the course and learn from the experience. 

 Some tips that my friends gave me: 

Ask for help: be sure to ask your professor or advisor for suggestions on how to study differently or comprehend the subject matter better. 

Tutoring: If you want to comprehend the content better, you might want to think about hiring a tutor. If there are meetings or office hours, you can also go to them.

Study groups: Studying with someone who’s going through the same can be really helpful since you can help each other. Or you could also study with someone who passed the class and ask them their study tips and strategies for the class. 

Understanding why you failed will help you succeed the next time or prevent failure altogether. Determine whether the course material is simply too difficult  Utilize resources like internet guides if you require additional assistance. Practice your time management and study techniques.

In conclusion, failing a class it’s totally normal and it doesn’t define you as a student or as a person! The world won’t end. Even if you don’t pass a course , you can still get your degree and your chances are still open. You’ve undoubtedly gained a lot of knowledge from the experience, too. You’ll gain a lesson in perseverance in addition to how to study harder and do better the next time. <3
