You were completely focused on the task of filling the third ichor machine, your watchful gaze intense. Survival was on the forefront of your mind— there was no way you’d let a tiny little flower endanger you or your friends, especially Connie. Speaking of that mischievous ghost girl, where was she? Well, she could be anywhere right now, really. Your eyes scanned the area around the machine, on the lookout for both twisteds and any trace of your spectral gal.

Sure enough, it didn’t take long for Connie to tap you on the shoulder, clearly hoping to catch you off guard with her surprise visit. But by now, you were used to her silly antics and didn’t even bother turning around to see her smug grin, which always stayed glued to her lips despite the harsh circumstances. Well, actually, that’s just what everyone— including you, always assumed. But when Connie realized you weren’t going to pay her any mind, her grin twitched into a faintly disappointed frown, her brows furrowed in mild frustration.

You heard the faintest huff from the ghost behind you and struggled to hide your amused smile. “Hey, cutie. You really know how to work those ichor machines, huh?” she said with a playful grin, floating beside you to catch your reaction. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, and you could actively see the lack of patience building up as you kept your stoic attitude.

Turning to face her with a small nod, you kept your eyes on the machine. “Yeah, it’s pretty easy. Why don’t you give it a shot?” you responded smugly, noticing Connie’s fingers twitch as you effortlessly shot down her teasing. Connie adjusted her hat, glanced at the machine, and for a moment, you thought you might have finally gotten the upper hand.

But you of all people should know Connie doesn’t back down THAT easily. Straightening up, the playful ghost spoke with more confidence. “Oh, but I love watching your hands work the valve. You look so focused, it’s admirable.” Connie’s gaze flickered between you and the ichor machine, clearly expecting some sort of reaction. A blush, a smile, maybe even a giggle. But nothing… really? Nothing at all? Her hands rest on her hips, lingering there as you finished with the machine.

Just to tease her a bit more, you pretended to dust your hands off, and you could’ve sworn you saw Connie’s grip tighten. Without really thinking, you spoke up. “Well, I aim to impress, especially when it comes to the prettiest ghost in Gardenview.”

Now it was your turn to watch Connie’s expression change, her typical smugness fading as a light ‘blush’ crept onto her cheeks. Yet considering her spectral form, it almost appeared as a soft light glow. It was fascinating, but you weren’t about to mention that just yet. Connie opened her mouth to say something, but was quickly silenced by her own nervousness, struggling hard to think of a snarky reply… or really any reply at all.

At this point you’ve almost forgotten about the final machine, casually leaning against the one you’d just filled with a cocky grin, suppressing the pride that came with catching the ghost off guard— something she was professional at. Watching her crumble so easily thanks to a few words was a sight that would stay in your memory forever, totally unforgettable.

“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?” you said effortlessly, noticing just how much the room had heated up. Connie could only stammer, crossing her arms defensively once more, her dark eyes locked on you.

“No— not at all. I didn’t even hear what you said! Oh, what’s that? Tisha’s calling for me? Gotta go!” she blurted out quickly, barely giving you any time to react before she vanished into thin air, floating off elsewhere. Oh well, you knew you’d be seeing her again rather soon.

Astro needed some time to get used to your clingy behavior—it was odd to him. Well really, he was touch-starved too, but he was the type to pull away from physical touch out of fear. With patience and a small start, like holding hands or cheek kisses, he slowly began to grow more comfortable. You’d notice him staying closer to your side more often, casually resting an arm over your shoulder or intertwining his arm with yours, small gestures to remind you he was still there.

He was pretty shy around other toons, so it took him a little while to feel comfortable initiating any public displays of affection. Shrimpo would usually tease you about it, but the others were quick to defend you. It was nice to see how many Toons thought you two were adorable together!

I’d be damnded not to mention the cozy, comforting naps you’d take. All bundled up in soft, fuzzy blankets. Astro would hold you close, quietly watching your peaceful expression as your chest rose and fell. Soon enough he’d drift off to the sound of your light snores, a soft smile curving on his lips.

You wouldn’t really expect it, but Astro was surprisingly protective of you! If you didn’t think he was a professional worrier, you’d be dead wrong. He was always checking you for injuries after encounters with Twisteds, and he can be pretty darn stubborn about it too. Just know that he cares more than his own words could ever express.

Even though Astro does enjoy his alone time, he always makes up for it by promising to take you on a date afterward, whether it’s to the garden or the museum. He’d shower you with sweet kisses that actually left him blushing even more than you! There were also times when you’d read books together, cuddled under blankets with a light dim enough to read, taking turns quietly reading aloud until one of you slowly drifts off to sleep. That was genuinely one of his favorite things to do.
