"You know, I really, I have a lot to thank you for. I have so much to thank you for, especially tonight. It’s really been such a good week. I want to start out though by saying thank you to everyone who traveled a great distance to be at this show tonight. I know a lot of you have traveled. I really appreciate that. I can’t thank you enough for wanting to be at this show so much that you would travel a great distance to be here. I just, it means the world to me, and I am so, I cannot stop telling you how overjoyed I am to see you. We have had a break from the tour, so it was a couple months of us not getting to dance together and play together, and not getting to vibe with you, and dance with you, and sing with you. And I always just love that, Tokyo. You know that I love coming to see you. And I’ve been waiting and looking forward to these shows for so long. And now they’re here! So another thing I have to thank you for is that we just had a, we had a pretty crazy night at the Grammys the other day. What?! So many things, so many things happened. But most of all, so going to the Grammys, going in, I had this plan in my head, and I’d like, told my friends. And I told Jack. But I hadn’t really told very many other people. But I thought, ‘If I’m lucky enough to get up there and win one thing tonight, I’m just going to do it. I’m just going to announced my new album, The Tortured Poets Department.’ And luckily enough, that ended up happening. My back-up plan is that I was going to do it tonight in Tokyo. But thanks to you and your support, I was lucky enough to win a Grammy, and tell you about it on the stage at the Grammys, and now we can talk about it afterwards. We can do like, the debrief tonight, and talk about it. But I got to announce this new album that I’m so proud of. And I’ve been keeping it a secret for awhile, because I’ve been working on Tortured Poets since right after I turned in Midnights. So you turn in an album months in advance, so you can make vinyls, which are the best, and I started working on it immediately after that. And I’ve been working on it for about two years. I kept working on it throughout the US tour, and when it was perfect in my opinion, when it was good enough for you, I finished it. And I am so, so excited that soon you’ll get to hear it. Soon we’ll get to, you know, experience that together. And I’m just like, I’m over the moon about the fact that you guys care about my music. It still blows my mind. I love doing this. I know I keep saying that, but that’s because it’s true. Everyone’s like, ‘Why do you make so many albums?’ I’m like, ‘Man, because I love it! I love it so much! I’m having fun. Leave me alone.’ But so basically then, another crazy thing happened, because you are so amazing and so supportive, a direct reflection of that is that the Grammys, the Recording Academy, decided to give Midnights Album of the Year, which is just like—I cannot believe you, I cannot thank you enough, this is just the craziest, most joyful experience. And then getting to come here and get to thank you and see you right after that happened, I’m just, I’m in a really good mood. I don’t know if it’s apparent. But I am. I’ve been waiting to play a show with you for over four years, so I’m just going to go ahead and start playing champagne problems now."

Watching Kendrick Lamar create and record his verses on the Bad Blood remix was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life. I still look back on this collaboration with so much pride and gratitude, for the ways Kendrick elevated the song and the way he treats everyone around him. Every time the crowds on The Eras Tour would chant his line ‘you forgive, you forget, but you never let it… go!’, I smiled. The reality that Kendrick would go back in and re-record Bad Blood so that I could reclaim and own this work I’m so proud of is surreal and bewildering to me. I’m overjoyed to say that the Bad Blood Remix (featuring Kendrick Lamar) is available everywhere on the 1989 Deluxe Edition. 🫶🩵 http://taylor.lnk.to/1989TaylorsVersion

So you and I, we’re about to go on a little adventure, and that adventure is going to span 17 years of music, and we’re going to do this one era at a time. How does that sound?
