GLaDOS pulled her hand away from Chell’s, making sure that her fingers- cold with death, pale skin still softly stained red- lingered against the human’s flesh for a moment longer than necessary. Of course the game of seduction was no longer needed- the jig was up, Chell knew what she was- but GLaDOS couldn’t help but wonder if even Chell’s knowledge would completely shake her interest. After all, GLaDOS had been human once. She had been Caroline, as she introduced herself as. Her body still had the shape, the curves. Her eyes were still hidden behind long lashes, her neck was still as slender and lovely as it had once been.
If Chell still found her appealing? Well, that could come in handy, GLaDOS thought. That being said, she had no intention of laying on the flattery as thick as she had been- Chell hardly deserved it. “Oh, well if you’re offering,” despite the ache still throbbing from her injury, GLaDOS kept as much fluidity to her movements as possible as she draped herself across Chell’s bed, propping her chin up on her hand and continuing to watch Chell with an unbroken gaze. “I’ll be perfectly happy right here. Don’t worry, you can sleep.”
“You wanted a vampire to watch over you, did you not? I’ll do just that.”
She Rules the Night
✦ GLaDOS :
GLaDOS’s golden eyes flashed, devilishly curled lips showcasing her satisfaction in such an answer. Silence was precious, after all. Of course, GLaDOS couldn’t help but wonder if anyone in this town would believe Chell’s cries of wolf if she tried anyway; if anyone would think the little mute lunatic had actually been attacked by a vampire. Still, GLaDOS wasn’t in the business of taking stupid chances, she was much too smart for that.
“Well, isn’t it nice that we’ve settled that. And without fire pokers? Who would’ve thought.”
With Chell’s hand on hers, GLaDOS leaned a little closer, her voice a purr dripping with sarcasm as she relished the feeling of that pulse underneath Chell’s warm- still slightly bloody- skin. Soon, that fluttering heartbeat would be GLaDOS’s to command. To quicken and to slow with every bite, to, one day, slow to a complete stop.
But not yet. For now? She was satisfied. A glance outside showed that the world was still blanketed in the cover of night, but logic told her that it wouldn’t be too long before the first peaking rays of dawn started to creep over the horizon.
“I’m sure you’re tired, hero. Why not get some sleep?”
Sleep sounded like a terrible idea, but Chell was exhausted, & what greater or more necessary test to their agreement could there be than to actually sleep in her own bed what with her vampire here ? She pressed her tongue between her teeth & she nodded slowly as though she were making her mind up even while she did it. But the time for that was over ; she had already entered into this agreement, &, indeed, it had been her idea.
She quirked her lips up into a slight smile or a smirk, by way of agreement with Caroline’s statement & to convey enough confidence in this settlement that they’d reached. She had restored her, & fed her, & there must be enough in her to wait through the rest of the night.
Still, Chell then gestured to Caroline, & then to the bed, & then made a small, sweeping motion outward with one hand before tilting her head curiously. She had the arm chair. She gestured to that. Perhaps this creature of the night did not need a place to rest her head while dawn approached, but still the living woman was curious as to what she would do while Chell slept.

“Oh, my hero. Such a valiant thing you did, not eating my body because you still had a use for me. Careful, I just might swoon.” Always with a flare for the dramatic, GLaDOS leaned back in her chair, pressing the back of her hand to her forehead in a movement practically dripping with sarcastic intent.
Of course GLaDOS could give herself whatever body parts she wanted, human or not, all it would take was enough time to craft and attach the new part. She wouldnt deny she found great amusement in the idea of putting something akin to a bear-trap between her legs, just in case Chell dared to act on her obvious curiosity. That sort of thing killed the cat, after all.
But as of right now, GLaDOS possessed no such application. At least, not in that particular area.
“Let it be remembered, then, that one of us was the big enough person to help the other even when their partnership was no longer needed.” GLaDOS readjusted her position, leaning forward once again to study Chell with her gaze. Why had she saved Chell that day? Why had she pulled her back from the depths of space even when their alliance had already served its purpose to her? GLaDOS was just a better person.
“I think you fundamentally misunderstand this situation, if you think that I was ever confined to this room.” GLaDOS stood from her throne, and with the movement of her lithe form, the panels on the walls shifted and fluttered, like the flexing of a muscle. “I’m everywhere you’ve ever been in this facility, and everywhere you will go as long as you are in the confines of Aperture. Make no mistake, I am Aperture.”
Life in Aperture
✦ GLaDOS :
GLaDOS narrowed her gaze, undecided if she ought to feel amused or annoyed at the sheer contrast between Chell’s actions- such obedience in moving forward- and her words- crude and brash, even non verbal as they may be. While it was a fascinating phenomenon to consider- just how Chell could find it in her to have such attitude towards someone who held her very life in their hands- GLaDOS had no plans of relinquishing control of the situation.
“Thankfully, you missed your chance to eat me when I was stuck inside a root vegetable.” GLaDOS resisted the urge to curl her lip at the memory; how unpleasant it was to even consider, and how painful it was when a bird had attempted to make a meal out of her. Chell would’ve been worse, no doubt. “Here’s a fun fact; if you were to attempt to consume this body, you would be electrocuted to death before the lead poisoning even got to you.”
GLaDOS wasn’t stupid- quite the opposite actually, she was the smartest creature currently in existence- nor was she unaware of the dialect and euphemisms of humans. Thus, Chell’s question- her real question- was not lost on the core, and her avoidance of directly answering it was equally intentional.
The answer to that question seemed far too precious to give up for free, no matter what that answer was. Chell’s wide-eyed, slack-jawed excitement would be equally entertaining as her crushing disappointment.
“Unless you can better articulate what you want from me, I’d recommend you just get comfortable while you sit and watch me work. Companionship is what you asked for, after all.”
Chell wasn’t convinced that GLaDOS didn’t know what she meant, especially given her own penchant for barbs & turns of phrase. But perhaps she should have expected her to choose to interpret the question as literal. Chell had only recently started to sign to her, but wasn’t GLaDOS always pretty evasive ? Especially when it came to her own self.
「 I wouldn’t have eaten your potato, 」 Chell signed as she approached, & came to a stop mere feet from GLaDOS, 「 Give me more credit than that … I still needed your help. 」
But that didn’t address the matter of what she wanted from her, whether that was to have a conversation or to pester her about just how accurate she may have made her new body. She may have given herself nothing at all. She could have crafted anything she wanted, even something bizarre & not the least bit human. If that was her wish. It was a bit of a struggle for Chell to keep her curiosity in check, now that it had been addressed.
「 Besides, you did come through for me, in the end, 」 the test subject added, as if it wasn’t on her mind at all ( who was still thinking about that ? not Chell, that’s for sure ). 「 I think that counts for something. I wanted to have a conversation with you, but since you have this new shape, I want to know if you can leave this room. 」
The sign for ❛ room ❜ was formed by miming the sides of a box ; she made it larger than usual, but then she brought her hands abruptly together at the end with a very small clap before dropping them because she’d finished signing. As if the room were closing in on itself.

✦ GLaDOS :
Everything in Aperture was a challenge; GLaDOS figured Chell ought to have known as much by now. Nothing was freely given; not cake, not freedom, and certainly not companionship. But, then again, GLaDOS knew she could only push Chell so far before it got dangerous. Rewards couldn’t be forever out of reach- the human needed to reach the carrot on a string on occasion, or she might get nasty.
So, after uncrossing her legs rather deliberately, she beckoned Chell closer with the wave of her recently crafted hand- there was no use in Chell simply standing around in the doorway like an idiot.
“I thought you might say that. Well, not say it, but I knew you’d communicate as much somehow- even if it was just ogling me like an ape.”
A smile- or a smirk, there wasn’t much difference between the two on GLaDOS’s face- crossed the robotic queen’s lips as she spoke, bringing her fingers to run along her synthetic skin before briefly twirling a strand of faux hair around her index.
“Of course, this little humanoid facade will never be my real body. I just thought I’d play around in this one for awhile.” GLaDOS paused, catching Chell’s silver gaze with her own, golden one, “And from the sound of your request; it seems like you’d like to do just that as well.”
Oh‒‒‒‒ it seemed as though Chell had misjudged GLaDOS. A spark came into her eyes, fresh, that pulled from her the uncertainty that had characterized her interactions with GLaDOS in this new form, in this environment that felt somehow different from ever before. Suddenly, it was like their footing was not so uneven anymore after all. Interesting.
It also meant that she didn’t have to lose her opportunity to drop that remark of hers, as she obeyed the silent call to come into the chamber like a moth to the flame, walking with a slow, deliberate pace that nonetheless characterized her desire. She was a woman of simple needs, really. It had more or less been proven in her response to gifts of bath products & praise‒‒‒‒ & of course, this meeting, at her own request.
「 So, does that mean that there really is something edible to be found on you ? 」 she dared to sign as she came closer. With her own lips coming up into a bit of a smirk, or just the smile of a woman much too pleased with herself for getting to say something so ridiculous & crass to GLaDOS ( GLaDOS, of all people, the Queen of the monstrous lost civilization that Aperture was ; whom the other cores in this place were so afraid of they would rarely dare to say her name ).
Chell was almost as pleased by this as she was curious about GLaDOS’s new body. It hadn’t been her plan, of course, she’d had no idea, but maybe she was ogling a little here. Which really made her have to wonder just how she felt about the other woman. Even in a new form, this was still GLaDOS, after all. She couldn’t separate one from the other.

✦ GLaDOS :
GLaDOS raised a perfectly crafted eyebrow, slowly, deliberately, as Chell signed. ‘We?’ How arrogant, how presumptuous, was this human, to believe that she could speak for GLaDOS? To think that she could even begin to compare what each of them needed. GLaDOS did not need companionship, she was not human.
And yet… GLaDOS tilted her head to the other side, as she watched the impish look creep upon Chell’s face, there was little to be learned from eternal repetition. Perhaps a change of pace would not be so awful, perhaps it could even be of some small benefit to GLaDOS outside of merely sating her human’s interests, perhaps…
GLaDOS paused, watching the way Chell managed to speak without words, convey without tone what her sentiment was- or at least, what GLaDOS registered as a challenge. For the subject, eternally observed in her every movement, to want to do the observation herself? To take control? That required some serious confidence, or gall for that matter.
“What, want to see if you can find a part of me that’s edible if you stare long enough?”
GLaDOS would not relinquish control of the situation so easily, only allowing Chell a moment of her silence before responding with a sly smile and verbal bite, a snap of her metaphorical jaws to ensure that it was not forgotten who was the alpha dog. It wasn’t that GLaDOS minded the notion of Chell staring up at her in blind reverence, slack-jawed but satisfied, for hours on end. After all, what an easy reward that was.
But GLaDOS would not let Chell play any mind games with her. That, was GLaDOS’s job.
Again She went, comparing Chell to an animal in whatever words suit. The human took no offense ; she would be concerned if GLaDOS forgot to make some sharp remark about her. She may have had to personally check to see that nothing had been fried or knocked loose in the transfer that had taken place when GLaDOS had changed herself into this… rather appealing form.
Chell had a good mind to ask if there was something edible to find on her, if she looked, but she had worked too hard to get here to throw it away on a remark that would likely get her thrown out of the chamber like a stray that had wandered in. GLaDOS was too proud and too refined ( was that the word ? she continued to remind Chell in every way of a princess, or a queen, in her keep ; words like ❛ refined ❜ or ❛ elegant ❜ seemed the most apt to describe her, especially now that she had adopted a body that could properly express the grace she’d exuded even in her chassis ) to put up with that type of humor, much less to allow Chell to use it to try and continue to recapture that small sense of control in this environment.
Chell wasn’t. She did find that kind of crude joke to be funny, and maybe it could have gotten her some more ground. But she was Chell, and GLaDOS was… oh, she was something else entirely. Funny how being more alike the human physically seemed to bring out the differences between them so much more. It fascinated Chell endlessly. It was the same kind of intrigue that drew her to strive so hard for her reward in the first place.
Ironic, wasn’t it, that the reward was another challenge ?
「 You have made a very lovely look for yourself, 」 she signed at length. A much better approach. Hopefully one that could help her to gain her footing. Goodness knew she was feeling more out of her depth than ever, more hopelessly adrift with every word GLaDOS said to her.
Conversation : again, it just wasn’t a talent she possessed.

✦ GLaDOS :
GLaDOS watched Chell’s hand, still slightly stained with her own blood, being extended out towards her. To shake on a promise, as if that gave mere words any more weight than they already possessed. GLaDOS had lied to plenty of people before; how else could she have survived this long? She thrived on empty promises.
Of course, normally she liked to make the rules, and wasn’t particularly keen on embarrassing herself. But then again, she supposed she had already done as much when she went and got herself stabbed in the stomach by a socially outcast mute with a fire poker.
She took Chell’s hand, after a moment of thought, ensuring that despite her current state, her grip was firm- firmer than her delicate features would imply. A display of strength that Chell could either take comfort in- if she truly believed GLaDOS would be her protector- or, take as a threat. GLaDOS didn’t care much which one the human decided to go with, so long as it was not soon forgotten what she was.
“I’m sure this goes unspoken-” GLaDOS paused to smirk a little to herself at the irony of saying as much to a mute, “-but if you tell a single soul about me, I will not hesitate to rip that pretty little throat out while you sleep. I don’t much like dealing with angry mobs, you know. And I’m sure you don’t want a massacre on your conscience.”
A swallow‒‒‒‒ subtle, she was trying very hard to be in control right now. Uphill battle, really. Everything felt like it after the struggle she’d just survived, but all the same, Chell kept her upper lip about as stiff as she could as she nodded firmly, ignoring the tightness in her throat. Seemed her new companion had a very good read on her.
The effect of the handshake was exactly as intended, and it wasn’t lost on the human just what was being communicated to her. It landed as some twisted combination of both the reassurance of the protector and the threat of the undead. It did not allow for her relief to live any longer than the one moment. Like flicking a light switch. On and then off again.
Even with the proposed solution having been accepted, the situation itself was still quite delicate. Chell had every reason to be worried about what Caroline would do once her strength was back up, even if she was being presented a steady blood supply in return for very little on her part. Hard to predict what may go through the mind of a predator ; all the more one that had already used her wiles to trick her way into Chell’s home.
Chell put her free hand on top of Caroline’s. Another nod. Then she brought the hand to her face, index finger raised, in a universal shushing sign.

She’ll deconstruct test chambers by hand, piece by piece.
She lets herself feel each individual wire snap like tendons, every shard of glass crunch and shatter like bone.
She twists and bends the mangled metal remains, melting them down just to watch the fire and feel it burn.
It is destructive, violent, and ultimately meaningless.
It reminds her of you.

Hello everyone
In case you didn’t notice; this is a side blog! With a name that used to belong to my main blog! I am still the same person who used to run the last ‘ask-glados-queen-of-aperture’ blog, I’m just switching things around to streamline things. Link to my new main blog- that’s the location of all my OLD rp stuff- here. I haven’t been doing much roleplay these days, but I want the chance to come back to it when I have the time and motivation, so that’s what this blog is for! If you want a thread with me, let me know. No promises on when I’ll get back in the swing of things, but I’ll try to keep everybody posted.
