Tarkatan are technically not humans but I can see why Earthrealmers would be uncomfortable with the thought of eating them. However meat is sustenance. We eat to live so we can fight our battles. I have eaten other animals but smaller bones get stuck in my teeth.

Why do y’all gotta eat human flesh? Why can’t y’all just eat other meats like chicken or beef? Pork? Maybe fish. Or shoot, I don’t eat it but try bears. They’re bigger than humans.
