is there a mod or a trick to making sims NOT get wants associated with whatever event is going on? it's driving me crazy.

For Rent is on the list of my top fave packs. Not because I like the gameplay, but being able to have multiple households on one lot is such a gamechanger for making worlds feel more vibrant. There are never enough lot spaces to have all the community lots i want AND enough residential. But residential rentals, man...

10 whole households between two lots, bless.

Not that I even play the households, it's more like... I like my worlds to be contained. Only select worlds are close enough to easily travel between, in my headcanon. So just making the world feel alive is enough for me.

if i could make CC - which i cannot, b/c i do not have the patience to get and learn the tools i need - i would make hairs. and i would 11111000% focus on making hairs... that have several variations of the same style. What do I mean? I mean, if i made a shoulder length hair with bangs, would also make that same hair but in an up-do. or a half up-do. or or just whatEVER

because my biggest gripe with sim hairs is that sometimes it's really hard to give a sim multiple styles that still look like the same freaking hair

3am and I am awake because I, out of the blue, had a massive gerd attack (despite having taken my daily meds to prevent that AND having not eaten anything that usually triggers it). So now I cant lay down and sleep unless I want to choke to death on a burning esophagus and acidic saliva.

Atm im just populating henford but making sims takes me so long and if im only going to play one household (and in the save i am) iiiii'd rather just plop down sims made by others

But the gallery is ass & 90% of the sims are the same white, blonde, doll looking femme sims copied and pasted 500 times. Sometimes you have to be really specific to find more unique sims.

Let's talk Henford-on-Bagley! I was so enjoying the cozy country vibes that I couldn't stop placing lots. They ended up spilling over into Windenburg, but I've altered the Henford map to show where I envision their actual placement. (Imagine if EA had given us this full of a map in the first place!) I came up with a bunch of ideas for Henford's residents along the way, and I wanted to share a little bit about each lot's storytelling purpose. Also, they're all amazing builds that deserve more love!

Old New Henford:

Uchiyama Farm (Everheart Farm by meishuno)

My legacy family's home! I moved them into this lot two or three years ago now, and I couldn't bear the thought of changing it. Too many memories! I'll probably give the inside a bit of a refresh, though, considering several packs have come out since I first decorated it.

Goldbloom's Pumpkin Patch (Pumpkin Patch by SimCubeez)

Since Kim Goldbloom runs the produce stand, it makes sense for it to be an offshoot of a larger business, and what better than a pumpkin patch? I bet making a trip out every year to choose the best pumpkins for carving is as exciting as cutting down a Winterfest tree.

Henford Horse Stables (by FancyFrenzy92)

There's certainly no shortage of horse girls in Henford-on-Bagley, so stables were a necessity. Reading up on the Watsons, they seem like Henford old money, and while much of their land has been sold off, this property remains, as both home and business. The Watsons may have a lot of self-importance thanks to their wealth and status, but they're also a big part of why Henford continues to thrive.

Olde Mill Eatery (Farm to Table Restaurant by simpolcheeks)

I decided to turn Rahul Chopra into a young adult and promote him from delivery boy to restaurant owner. (This is consistent with my legacy's progression, since several residents aged up in my original save.) He prides himself on his uncompromising farm to table ethos, and much of the restaurant's produce is grown on premises!

Grandma's Lair (Herb Witch Cottage by CillasYT)

This is the infamous Grandma Cassie's house! After her husband's death, she decided to sell their converted lighthouse in Windenburg and move just across the river from her daughter's farm. She enjoys tending her magical garden and, from time to time, giving the local kids a scare.

Henford High {by peonypyxels)

This is the one CC lot I've allowed myself because I wasn't able to find another school that suited the vibe and I wasn't about to build one myself. It's been a bigger project than I expected, but I've been working on decluttering and Maxis matchifying it to make it less of a heavy load on my computer. I think it will be so fun for storytelling, even if it can't function as a real high school.

The Bramblewood:

Sunflower Fields Forever (Sunflower Field Farmhouse by ralucii)

Cecilia Kang owns this sunflower farm! I've never been very clear on her personality, but her whole "ditching the city for the country life" back story made me think she'd want to embrace her inner free spirit. (I bet she frequents Crimson & Clover Retreat in Moonwood Mill for yoga and meditation sessions.) On an entirely superficial level, this lot was just too beautiful to resist!

Bramblewood Cemetery (by JenXsims)

I've been toying with the idea of beginning the story with a funeral - sounds exactly like something I'd do, I know. If you've read this far, you'll have an idea of whose it will be. I haven't had the chance to hold one with the new Life & Death features yet, so I'm interested to see how it goes.

McMillan & Moody's Nectary (Generations Vineyard by simpolcheeks)

I can't remember what I was searching for when I found this, but I was absolutely blown away! At first, I thought I might give Derek and Ian the sunflower farm, but I liked the idea of a nectary for them instead. Just two adorable gray-haired gays growing grapes together. What could be more idyllic?

Cordelia's Greenhouse (by raylamars)

The Cordelia's Secret lot is so good that I'm always torn on how to use it. But I saw this greenhouse while scrolling through some finds blogs and knew it was perfect. It's maintained by the Crumplebottom sisters, who refuse to admit they might need to start thinking about hiring more help as they continue to get on in age.

Nettle Lane Orchard (Johnny's "U-Pick" Orchard by whyeverr)

I don't really have any lore for this orchard yet. I just liked it, and it was the one kind of farm I felt like I was missing. Maybe I'll come up with more of a story for it, or maybe it'll just serve as pretty scenery.

Volpe's Meadow (A Flower Field by DoctorSimCraft)

More pretty scenery. A favorite spot for teenagers to go on first dates.

Ale's Camper (Cozy Camper Trailer by Kuba7207)

This is for my restless nomad Sim, Alejandro! In my old save, he got engaged and had a kid, but now I don't feel like that life suits him. He strikes me as the type to have countless love affairs with places and people and never truly settle down. But between adventures, he parks his camper on a small plot of land in the Bramblewood with slightly more breathing room than the Uchiyamas' backyard.

Finchwick:

The Gnome's Arms (The Gnome Arms Reno + B&B by DoctorSimCraft)

Still the local watering hole but recently upgraded into a full-scale bed and breakfast! Now it's as appealing to tourists as it is to locals, which residents may grumble about, but they can't deny the boost in business has injected new life - and money - into the town.

Mayor's Residence (Chopra Manor by marcos00414)

Currently occupied by Lavina Chopra and her son, Rahul, who doesn't mind sticking around in a massive historical mansion without paying rent as long as he possibly can but is also looking to use the profits from his restaurant to find a place of his own soon.

3 Cobblebottom Street (by Myszykiskzki)

Home to Sara and Simon Scott! Surprisingly, this lot might have taken me the longest to settle on. Everything I tried felt too generic. But then I found this house with a front yard full of gnomes, and it was perfect! After all, they take a lot of pride in their business.

This adorable cottage belongs to Agatha and Agnes Crumplebottom, everyone's favorite due of crotchety old ladies. In addition to running Cordelia's Greenhouse, they're the founders of the Henford-on-Bagley Garden Society, though they hold such exacting standards they're currently the only members.

Finchwick Petting Farm (Children's Farm by DoctorSimCraft)

I just really wanted a petting farm because I thought it would be adorable. I decided to take a look through DoctorSimCraft's catalog after placing The Gnome's Arms and almost gasped when I saw this. I added a few mini goats and sheep to boost the cuteness even more.

So far, I'm finding it refreshing to engage in a more purposeful world-building process before starting a story. There will still be things to make up as I go along, but the world and characters are feeling so much more alive to me from the start. I appreciate everyone being so understanding and even encouraging during this unintentionally long hiatus from HZID. I still love that story to death, but I think my brain needed permission to follow other muses for a while. Right now, my muse is telling me I need to do about 100 townie makeovers, but we'll see how long I can keep that up before getting sick of it. 😂

There's a new family in Oasis Springs.

No one knows when the Shepherds arrived. No one knows where they came from. One day they weren't there, the next they were. Some folk claim they've always been there. Others know they haven't. Everyone is starting to doubt themselves.

Father Shepherd has opened a church and cemetery. He has come to preach about the Church of the Scale. He even offers private meetings for confessions, prayer, blessings, and guidance - for a small fee, of course.

What does the Scale even mean? What God do they worship? Why are there so many lizards suddenly all over the town?

Perhaps we'll never know...
