Aura:
When looking at these photographs of original artwork, it is clear that the aura of the pieces are impacted. Each piece in this collection seems to go with the others, with the use of similar colors and content, and without seeing them all together in person, this aspect is lost. With the 3D piece (guitar and shadow boxes), the photograph doesn’t give the viewer a sense of how big each piece is and a lot of detail is lost. Without seeing it in person, its almost impossible to make out what’s in the shadow boxes. Another element that is lost during reproduction of these original pieces are the brush strokes. Being able to see the patterns and style of brush strokes that the artist used can often add to the vibe, or aura, of the piece (for example, Van Gogh’s Starry Nights).
