a magical sword can only be pulled from its anvil by a maiden of purest heart. a young knight visits the anvil daily to make the attempt, crushed each time he cannot do the deed, yearning for a sign from the universe that he *is* in truth what he yearns to be. for the world to plop the gift of identity into outstretched arms. but of course, it never does. until one day, he has a chance encounter with a nymph of the lake who was once an ordinary squire, and he learns from her that maidenhood will not be given to him, that he must be brave and choose it for himself. and so the knight changes her name and reintroduces herself to the world and employs the greatest miracles of modern science to become the maiden she had always dreamed of being, and this time, when she revists the sword, she only can't pull it because she's kind of an asshole.

this is very unsympathetic of me maybe, but sometimes I see posts that make me go "I think you guys are just making up problems"

The OBSESSION with identity is so crazy like the view that when you do something it immediately becomes part of your identity and all the parts of you have to click together to become “person who wakes up early” or “person who reads” no you can literally just do something without restructuring your whole performance of personhood around it. I don’t know what to tell you except that you will never be able to have an entirely unfractured view of yourself or that you will be able to rationalize all the complex parts of yourself into the phrase “person who x” like you should just be doing things without performing them. Or aestheticizing them. Just try different things on and keep what works for you. Otherwise you will never learn and grow!

yes well. the problem is there are too many demons, or maybe the original demon simply got too big because i kept feeding it, and now i can't quite tell which demon is which. for example, is the demon inside the car the same demon that is inside the house? why is there also a demon in the shed? when the demon possesses the body is it still the same demon or does it become a wholly new, fresh, hungry demon?

we need to invent a word like incestuous but its about how business is fundamentally fused to emotional intimacy and interpersonal relationships in the roy family, like mycelium. shiv quitting working with gil on a tantrum after they chastise for an insensitive joke that would've gotten her bonding laughs with her family. logan telling shiv that she's the successor not because he means it but not because he doesn't mean it, it's not quite a mindgame, it's a noncommittal expression of affection, the follow through dependent on shiv living up to logan's idea of a business savvy, competent child, which none of them can ever be. and when she isn't -when she embarrasses him- his love is a job that she doesn't get; that he has the right to refuse her and it doesn't mean that he lied to her or was playing 4d chess or had plans to humiliate her, i think. it's actually a lot simpler, and sadder, and more mundanely emotionally inept than that

Hello 😇👋,
My family and I are facing incredibly difficult times due to the ongoing war in Gaza 💔. Our dreams and future have been shattered, leaving us feeling lost and without purpose. My brother Ahmad and I have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help us escape Gaza, continue our education, and support our family.
Making a small donation or sharing the campaign — would mean the world to us.

Thank you so much for your kindness and support 💖
With gratitude,
Anas Basil

the default way for things to taste is good. we know this because "tasty" means something tastes good. conversely, from the words "smelly" and "noisy" we can conclude that the default way for things to smell and sound is bad. interestingly there are no corresponding adjectives for the senses of sight and touch. the inescapable conclusion is that the most ordinary object possible is invisible and intangible, produces a hideous cacophony, smells terrible, but tastes delicious. and yet this description matches no object or phenomenon known to science or human experience. so what the fuck
