Admin Laura here. After getting the anon message -- Admin Megan and I had a chat. Despite what I told the anon, her and I had to make a very difficult decision. Especially difficult for me -- because this roleplay is my baby. This roleplay has been going since June of last year. SEVEN MONTHS. That’s a very, very long time for a roleplay to last ; and it is the longest out of all the roleplays that I have ran. Unfortunately, all roleplays get to a point where the activity dies down to a point where it’s stagnant. Where replying becomes almost forced in nature and the roleplay begins to no longer be what roleplay is intended for -- fun. It starts to become more of a chore and a source of stress for all the players involved. We have made the hard decision to CLOSE the roleplay. I want to thank all of you -- current players, and past players who are no longer with us. From the bottom of my heart. Now -- do keep something in mind. We have discussed the future of Ashes to Ashes -- and this is not a potential, permanent end. One day, we would like to revisit the idea. Take some of the older ideas and reintroduce them, as well as adding new ideas in the mix as well. All of these are things that we will figure out when we get to it. Like I said, this roleplay is my baby, and I don’t plan on completely letting her go. This is not the end, just a break. To current players ;; Please feel free to continue whatever interactions you may desire. If you want to take your current accounts and create 1x1s or 2x2s, or whatever, that is all on you. This current blog will soon become an archive, so that none of this is lost. For now, the story ends here and maybe one day, the story will begin again. Stories are made to be retold.
Last note ;; mine and Megan’s current new project is THIS WAR IS OURS. It is an AU inspired by the AU event we held here during Halloween. We hope you will at least consider joining us there. Until next time, all the love in the world.

helloooo i was just wondering if you guys were still active? im hella interested in applying, yo
Admin Megan and I have a lot of plans for the future of this roleplay. As of right now, admittedly, we are in a lull – someone will post maybe twice or three times a day, so we’re not dead. With school starting up and everything getting busy, we went lax on activity for about a week or so. But – we would love to pick back up and make it more active like it was. Give us an application and we can definitely crack back down on activity for every body.

Okay -- quick mod update on activity. Megan and I were talking. Since there’s so few of us, and we’re so close and tight knit, we came to a decision on the activity of multiple characters. If you have more than one character, you are only required to KEEP ONE up to the qualifications of the activity check. EVERYONE is given a free pass on activity until JANUARY 2ND. After then, we will start implementing activity checks one more. We know the holidays are busy, and we’ve been just as inactive as everyone else. We DO still have a bunch of ideas for this group, big ones, and NO WORRIES, Megan and I are not going anywhere.

MIRACLE ON PARKRIDGE - DAY ELEVEN LITTLE LOST BOY - CONCLUSION
In the holiday season, there are always those who wish for the impossible. Those who wish for something that is just absolutely unattainable, for even the best gifters. This season, there are no such wishes. Jacob has spent countless nights curled up in Derek- or Cora’s- arms, wishing for one thing. His parents. Early on the eleventh day, they show up at the hospital door, claiming that they both shared a dream of this hospital and a man in red telling them they would find their son here.

GRANT DAHLE | AGE: 37 | SPECIES: Werefox | FC: JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT ⇨ GRANT DAHLE IS OPEN FOR AUDITIONS
Grant didn’t have an easy lifestyle, to say the least. Almost immediately after his birth, he was given up for adoption. He never knew why, if it was because they couldn’t afford him or if they didn’t want him, but a few weeks after he had been born, his parents gave him up. He always liked to hope that they would come back for him, that they’d realize how much they missed their little boy.
The stealing started when he was around seven. He never took anything big, just a couple dollars here and there, and it was almost never for himself. He was a friendly kid and he always felt like he should be able to do things for the kids he considered his friends. He didn’t really think about the repercussions, but for the most part he never really got caught. He had nimble fingers and a warped conscience.
When he was 13, he stole from another boy around his age. The boy looked like a punkass, but it was clear from the clothes he wore and the money in his wallet that he was well-off. He didn’t expect this gangly, mean looking kid to be the first one to catch him in the act, but that was exactly what happened. Then, with a grip much too strong, he grabbed Grant’s wrist and started to drag him in the direction he had been headed. Grant protested the entire way there, spewing a slew of words that probably didn’t make sense. He tried to explain that he was in the foster system and that he didn’t have much and that he was truly very sorry (that was half of a lie, at the time) for trying to steal from him but he’d never do it again. The boy took him to a large house.
It wasn’t a weird prison house like Grant thought, or foster kid jail, but instead it was the boy’s home. Grant found out that his name was Lyden, when his parents looked almost dumbfounded at the two boys in the room. Lyden declared, right then and there, that Grant clearly wasn’t being raised right and that they should adopt him. It took a bit more convincing and a lot of paperwork, but a little under a year later, Grant had a home.
He still stole, despite a family that could provide. It was a little bit of habit, but he still felt like he wanted to be able to contribute to the family. He would even sneak money into the hands of some of the kids at the foster home he had been at, if he saw them on the street. But when he was 16 years old, he got his first job at a cotton candy stand.
He had three more jobs before he went to college-- not because he got fired, but because he just couldn’t choose what he liked to do. He got a B.A. in English, but he continued to work different jobs. He spent a good portion of his time in school as a bartender, but eventually he got let go because he spent more time talking to the customers than actually working. After college, he started working for a gaming magazine, which seemed to be the perfect job for him. He spent all of his time playing different video games and writing extensive articles about them.
Though the story is a good one to tell, he almost passed up the chance to meet JAMES. It was destiny, or so he’d say. They were meant to be. But they were only together for a few months before James’ parents passed away. Grant hadn’t known them for long, but he was hurt from their death too. Nonetheless, he was there to comfort James and his sister, BLAKE.
He had been sprung right from the start, so it was no surprise to anyone (but James) when he proposed. And it was no surprise when James said yes. Their hardships only ever seemed to bring them closer. When James offered to turn Grant into a werefox, he agreed. Not because he wanted to have cool extra powers, or because he thought he had to. No, Grant accepted James’ offer because he wanted to feel that much closer to his husband.
It was James’ idea to start fostering, but Grant was one hundred percent on board. At first he had concerns, mostly involving finances, but with the extra money in savings and both of them working steady, consistent jobs, it was a no-brainer. They fell in love with each and every kid they took in, it wasn’t long until they started adopting them.
The virus took it’s toll on everyone, but Grant was always an optimist. He gathered up his family and started moving them in the direction towards the rest of their family. He intended to find Lyden, to find his adoptive parents, to find Blake. When they lost MACKENZIE, he was dead set on finding her, too. Even then, it didn’t really seem real until one of their boys got infected. He could see that his family was barely holding on and he could feel even himself slipping, but he tried to hold strong. He continued to lighten the mood, as best as he could, easing the children along as best as they could.
He never meant to lose James. He had turned his back for a minute- had wandered off to look at some trinkets in a store window- when the other man disappeared. He searched for hours, following his scent to the middle of the town, but it stopped there. It was like someone had masked it- like they were hoping that Grant would give up. He stayed in that town for another week, searching every inch of it. Then, he had a new goal. He was fueled by his desire to find his husband.
After that town, Grant found a nice protected base. It was a small relief, knowing that the children could be protected. And yet, that didn’t stop him from searching for James. He was running himself ragged trying to look for the love of his life, but he could never venture very far. It wasn’t until a nice older couple offered to keep an eye on his kids (though they were old enough to take care of themselves) that he managed to get far enough to actually search for James.

MIRACLE ON PARKRIDGE - DAY SEVEN A CHRISTMAS STORY
Their spirits have slowly begun to rise, but the pack is rational. Nothing matters if they can’t protect themselves from the beasts outside. Nothing matters if they can’t keep each other safe. They continue their patrols, barrels loaded. But when the clock strikes midnight and the seventh day of miracles is upon them, they find something that nobody can explain. Somehow they’ve been given extra weapons and ammunition.

MIRACLE ON PARKRIDGE - DAY SIX IT GLOWS
For half the day, they revel in the mysteries of these events-- and wonder if it’s over. Nothing eventful has happened. Nothing even relatively small. And then the sun starts to set and without any candles, the rooms stay illuminated. The power is on and the LIGHTS are completely functional.
