To anyone who may care
To any people who will notice my inactivity and may fear something bad has happened(although I don’t think anyone would care.) I’m just gonna take a break from Tumblr. Probably a long break because I think this app is pretty toxic to my well-being. Not trying to offend anyone but when I look back at myself to a time when I wasn’t using Tumblr, I realize I never felt so depressed, and anxious, and stressed like I am now. For the longest time, I didn’t know why these feelings came on so suddenly but after seeing a post on Instagram about Tumblr’s environment, I pinpointed exactly where these depressed feelings were coming from. I’m an African-american, cis, and heterosexual teenager. While this app did make me feel empowered as a black girl, I felt like complete crap for being cis and heterosexual. Before Tumblr I was spreading LGBT support everywhere! I was making posters for my school and I supported my cousin for 4 hours on the phone to come out to her dad about liking girls. So I was a little shocked when I started using this app and saw more than one post asking straight people not to be involved or not to reblog. I would see stuff spreading positivity for being LGBT but see in the tags, “Straights this is not for you.” or “Don’t reblog cis people.”
I found it very hard to show support when around the corner is a post literally telling me to go fuck myself.
I also started trusting men A LOT less. One time I left my mom’s side at the grocery store to go get a box of cereal of something and a man walked next to me and my first thought was, “Is he gonna try and touch me?”
I literally froze and panicked. When he grabbed some stuff and moved on, I gasped with relief like I was choking on freaking air. This website has effected me so much, I literally cried on more than one occasion. I can’t even talk to my bisexual best friend(who I’ve been friends with since 3rd grade) without thinking she secretly hates me! I tried very hard not to dwell on these feelings because I’m not LGBT so sometimes I feel I have no right to have self-doubt since my sexuality never suffered any kind of oppression. Even now I feel like crap for saying these things because what trauma have I suffered to actually feel depressed? My answer is NONE. None at all but yet here I sit wanting to drown in medicine so my headache can go away. I can’t even watch TV anymore or read a good book without noticing little details that stress me out. When I look at myself a year ago, I remember being full of so much energy and now I’m tired all the time.
So that’s my reasoning for quitting tumblr for the time-being. I’m not even sure I want to post this because I feel like I’m going to get attacked but since I may not be back, I might as well get this off my chest. To all the actual cool people I’ve seen on here, keep being awesome, me leaving has nothing to do with u!
It breaks my heart to do this because the main reason I joined this app was for interacting with the people in my fandoms, but even that has become hard to do without feeling like a horrible person for liking the things I do like.

To the straight boys
Your sexuality does not make you violent. Your sexuality does not make you sexist. You don’t have to be manly or dominant. Preferring to date women of a certain race, only wanting to date cis women, or only wanting to date trans women is okay. Having preferences does not make you a bad person. There are lots of girls who would love you for who you are.

tbh “boy positivity” posts are one of the most annoying things on this website, right up there with Straight Pride

Friendly reminder that it’s okay to be male. It’s okay to be cis. It’s okay to be straight. It’s okay to be white. It’s okay to not experience dysphoria. And it’s okay to not be disabled, physically or mentally.
And if you have OCs…
It’s okay for them to be male. It’s okay for them to be cis. It’s okay for them to be straight. It’s okay for them to be white (if they’re human, of course). It’s okay for them to not experience dysphoria. It’s okay for them to not be disabled, physically or mentally. And it’s okay for them to not experience tragedy or hardship.  Suffering or trauma isn’t the only mark of a good character.
However…
It’s not okay to hate someone for being male. It’s not okay to hate someone for being cis. It’s not okay to hate someone for being straight. It’s not okay to hate someone for being white. It’s not okay to hate someone for not experiencing dysphoria. And it’s not okay to hate someone who doesn’t share or might not understand any disabilities you might have, physical or mental.
And if you see someone with OCs…
It’s not okay to hate them for being male. It’s not okay to hate them for being cis. It’s not okay to hate them for being straight. It’s not okay to hate them for being white (if they’re human, of course). It’s not okay to hate them for not experiencing dysphoria. It’s not okay to hate them for not being disabled, physically or mentally. And it’s not okay to hate them for not having some kind of tragic element in their backstory, or if the person who owns them doesn’t want them to suffer.  Suffering or trauma isn’t the only mark of a good character.
Don’t let the Tumblrinas make you stop being you, and don’t let them influence your creations.  You rock, and anyone who shits on you or your creations is just salty at you for being you.

If you're white, straight or male this ones for you!
Don’t let tumblers toxic community get you down, you as an individual are not evil and have rights to complain about your problems and are no less than others as an individual.

Hey you
It’s okay to question your sexuality
It’s okay to change your sexuality
It’s okay to accept your sexuality and be open about it
It’s okay to hide your sexuality because you are not ready to tell people about it

What does sexuality or orientation or identity have to do with whether a boy or man  needs positivity or not? Straight men are capable of being depressed, abused, assaulted, molested, suffering from low self-esteem or body image issues just like any other men are.
I see people having issues with the fact that straight men do deserve positivity? I’m sorry you all failed biology, but straight men are human, and human beings are capable of hurt no matter what you identify as.
Sorry that’s such a hard concept for tumblr to grasp.

Both MCU and DCEU have debuted their own legion of female warriors based in mythology.
The difference however is how they’re portrayed.
Tumblr media
In Taika Waititi’s Thor Ragnarok we meet Valkyrie.
She is cool, snarky and awesome. Her presence in the story is not for the sake of providing a love interest for Thor but to be a co-worker, and later, a friend.
Notice that her costumes are armor. They are practical and stunning. It’s fashion in practicality.
Tumblr media
Earlier, we were introduced to Sif.
She is smart, hard working and dedicated. She is a soldier with the potential to be a leader. She mostly is, too.
Dressed up for the battlefield, always, she is ready to take on whatever challenge comes her way. The leather and metal provide protection against the harsh extraterrestrial climate. It’s also one of the coolest things ever designed for a movie.
Then there is DCEU and their Justice League.
Tumblr media
Question: what was Michael Wilkinson smoking when he thought it okay to sexualize these wonderful Amazonian warriors. This costume lacks practicality because, aren’t they warriors, and DESTROYS all the progressive steps that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman took in the portrayal of the Amazons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because Wonder Woman is the beautiful exception to DCEU’s portrayal of female characters.
Wonder Woman rocks
