I'll always talk up internet radio stations because I don't think the average person is aware that they're free, can run in your browser (or in any program that can connect to them), work on your phone, run better than a youtube tab, and give you a much better selection of music than you could get from a general algorithmic playlist

On my hands and knees begging adults to allow children to engage in risk play.

And by risk play I don't mean handing them a gun and playing Russian Roulette.

I mean like climbing trees, getting so sick spinning on the swing they throw up, balancing on the curb, sitting in the mud, walking on slippery surfaces, building half ass ramps to ride their bike over, standing on rocks, or anything that involves a smidgen of confidence and out of the box thinking that could result in injury.

Obviously like watch your kids and such, but when we talk about the fun of being an 80s or 90s kid, it's not just talking about CDs and Walkmans or not having iPads. It's about how kids today were robbed of critical learning and experience skills we were allowed to have.

Playgrounds disappearing, helicopter parents, and sue culture really destroyed a child's development in the United States, and I think it's about time we as adults recognize that, because the kids sure have.

And on the subject of how to train your dragon because yes, I had a phase, it always bothered me how Toothless looks in the first movie and the christmas special vs in the second and third movie. They really understood that Toothless is a beast, and this applies in a few ways.

One, he behaves like an animal and not generic cute movie pet. Toothless is a believable monster in the first movie. He has spunk and personality beyond golden retriever.

Two, he looks scary. He’s sleek. He’s angular. He has these eerie shrieks. There’s a lot of respect to be had for him, and then they cute-ified him.

Additionally they really ruin him as a monstrous creature by taking away his speed. Every flying scene from the second and third movie is disappointing because it’s not from the first movie. Seriously, even the Christmas special gets it right.

Which is all to say that the first movie had respect for its audience. Kids can handle depth and impressive animation without needing to bog it down with look kids it’s like if Daisy had wings! Disappointing
