Lohagad Trek.....

Maharashtra is a state in India,which is very popular for its rich culture and history. however forts are the special attraction in this state.visiting to different forts and learning about their past history is my hobby.

Among many other fort once such fort is lohagad (Gad mean fort in marathi) situated in pune and just 100 kms from Mumbai. this fort is situated 1300 mtrs above sea level, which give completely view of the villages surrounding it.

many rulers had rule this fort like Brahmins, chalukya, mughals, nizams but majorly it was ruled by Marathas. 

Shivaji Maharaj Captured this fort in 1648 but during the treaty of purandar it was taken by mughals in 1655 AD but again in 1670 AD. it was captured and rule by Marathas. however during the period of Peshwai, Nana Saheb Peshwa used to stay here for relaxation. he had also build big tank and step well. you will find Ganesh Dawaza at the entrance of the fort which very big and it has cone nails attached to it, which help to defend from elephant attack.

Best time to visit this place is from June to march.greenery is spread across the fort. vinchukada is corner valley of the fort. construction of the fort is still intact and very well maintain

 It is advisable to use sports shoes or treking shoes while doing trekking and exploring this fort because the steps are very slippery.
