Is Uber safe
Even though Uber is the largest transit company in the world, Uber is constantly facing the problem with consumer’s feel of safety. With this new flying taxi service Uber has the opportunity to make this a safer alternative than other forms of public /private transportation. However, due to the safety issues of having consumers high up in the air of the flying machine, it is limiting the company to increase their market share. Furthermore, it seems to be a priority to build trust among the consumers. Uber is a company that involves their consumers being transported by strangers, and with no plans to make the flying taxi’s automated this will continue to be a worry that consumers have when getting picked up by these machines.

With any new form of transportation the question becomes; how will it be incorporated into the current infrastructure of each individual city or state?
In the picture above we see that plans have already been put forward to make spaces along highways into pickup locations for the flying taxi’s. Uber’s Elevate article talks about how in some states consumers will be able to build their own landing pads on their property if the state permits it. In California where private landing strips are legal people have already begun building spots for the new flying Uber. A concern that i have along with other consumer is how this may become a luxury service for public transportation. Although Uber has said their prices may only be 15% to 30% more than the most expensive Uber car option, many consumers that are not “wealthy” worry that this service may be something they can use once in a while.

youtube
Uber has released a short video showing just how easy and efficient their new fully electric helicopter / plane public transportation will work. Their plans for unveiling their innovative flying taxi are set for 2025. Consumer reviews of this video mostly comprise of skepticism of whether this flying taxi option will be cheap enough for everyone or just the wealthy. I believe that with such an invention for transportation and the expenses that uber has for each of these flying taxis they will need to charge more than the most expensive uber option for a regular car.

To drive or to fly is now the question
I believe that as consumers become more and more busy with their lives at work and at home they will not want to waste time commuting. Furthermore, when a consumer has to spend money on fuel, a vehicle, insurance for that vehicle and time spent commuting through hours in traffic each week, it is becoming increasingly practical to use other forms of public transportation. "A study in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine, for example, found that those who commute more than 10 miles were at increased odds of elevated blood pressure.

This year Uber has released their plans to provide on-demand urban air transportation. Ubers logistics show that a two hour ride in any Uber car would only take the customer roughly 20 minutes give or take. The question that follows is how will Uber make this affordable to allow enough people to use the service. Source - https://www.uber.com/elevate.pdf/
