the tragedy of agatha and rio is that agatha can’t fathom being loved in an all consuming way and rio can’t fully understand agatha’s grief.

agatha has been shunned and hated even by her own mother since the day she was born and she’s scared all the time. so she hurts others before they have the chance to hurt her. so with nicky- she can love him the way she wanted to be even if she knows it’s doomed.

she fell in love with death- creating a child out of pure life for him only to have to be pulled back to the earth because that is rio’s job. agatha could never have this child but rio gave her the chance for a little while because she loves agatha.

rio is THE green witch- she is death. she can not belong to anyone if she wants to. so she lets nicky stay with agatha for a little while longer

but he will always return to her and rio will always break agatha’s heart and they both know it- but agatha can never quite see rio the same after

My main takeaway from the Agatha All Along finale is that Kathryn Hahn will be cracking jokes over Joe Locke’s shoulder for the entirety of Young Avengers and I could not be happier

My god this show was really Maiden MOTHER Crone. The double meanings are back. It’s obviously for Hecate Greek goddess of witchcraft but also a journey of womanhood, for Agatha.

Agatha starts as just a maiden, she’s fresh faced and a new lady when she kills her coven, her only coven.

Mother, she becomes a mother and a damn good one at that. She leaves a trail of bodies for Rio, as an offering, as a distraction who knows. Who cares. Everything she does she does it for her child. Just like Lorna Wu, just like Wanda Maximoff. And ironically unlike her own mother.

Crone, how she ends up. Yeah she’s a ghost but she’s visibly older, grey haired and also, looking a lot like her mother. Full circle omg I can feel my blood flowing again.

No we didn’t get Agathario backstory but as sad as it is the show isn’t about them. Getting Agatha and Nicky’s backstory was beautiful. This is Agatha’s show. Nicky is her biggest heartbreak, losing him is at the core of her being. A show allowing us to spend so much time with them is a miracle in of itself. Having a character like Agatha given so much depth, especially being a marvel show, is another miracle.

This show set out what it meant to do and gave us absolutely amazing characters and character arcs along the way. I am so impressed and I can’t wait to see where they take her next

Us not getting Agathario backstory or why Agatha is the way she is (apart from the small snippets given in AAA) is a good thing. It leaves the possibility for an Agatha origin story, if she gets popular enough. How she got so strong, why exactly her mother wanted her dead, how she got so close to Rio and how she got the Darkhold. There wasn’t time in AAA but that doesn’t mean there won’t be time later

I feel like some of y'all don't know what a good ending to a show is??? Now I'm not saying amazing, awe-inspiring, never been done before ending. But also not bad... Something genuinely good.

Like ppl complaining about post credits? A) everyone's been complaining about there being too many B) Of course there's not one right now, there's so many current projects in development that it would be silly (especially since there's only one tangently related to Agatha)

And I understand being disappointed that there's not a ton of Agatha/Rio backstory, but disappointment shouldn't = bad. And I feel like even that is kind of disengenuous. There's only so much time in the episodes, and they both mostly focused on Agatha. (Granted the Nicky section was long) And there was so much queerness in the show to be mad about a lack of it feels like ppl are trying to find something to complain about when everything that happened was perfectly acceptable, and simply good.

Am I left wanting more? Yeah a little, but a good show is supposed to do that. I felt closure for every character, and that a full story was told, ups downs and a satisfying ending included.
