Lightning scars!
To my knowledge these are usually pretty temporary. Though I imagine with how often Jessie and James get zapped, theirs are a bit more severe/long lasting. They cover them up with makeup in the places where the scars would show.
Ash's go away quick. They're usually on his hands because he has, willingly given Pikachu his hand to shock in order to help him think, get an idea or wake up (this is a thing he actually does in the show LOL)

I was just talking to Ahmed @90-ghost (alongside Av, who might be reading this, idk if they’d like to be part of this post tho). He has given me permission to write a post about our conversation.
This whole thing has gotten Ahmed to the point where he admits he’s started to hate tumblr after 12 years of being on here. He has over 3k messages in his inbox and can’t handle it right now, his brother and other family members are still in Gaza and he himself doesn’t have the money to help them out. I’ve noticed that donations have slowed among palestinian fundraisers in general, before this whole debacle that a few individuals on this site started. this is anecdotal, but I know Ahmed gets like $30-$50 per week in donations at this point, and that barely makes a dent in his and his family’s needs. Remember that people in Gaza need to pay massively inflated prices for what basic necessities are available right now. I think things are looking pretty dire to the people who would like to flee Gaza but don’t have the money. It already was dire that Egyptian government, working in lockstep with Israel and the west, charges $5k+ to Ghazzawis. Hala Agency, Ibrahim Al-Argani, and the other scumbags running the Egyptian state are all demons and they’ve lined their pockets throughout this genocide. But I digress—it was dire already and now the enthusiastic aid that helped people like Ahmed seems to have run dry.
All that is to say: Ahmed can’t continue to verify peoples’ documents or promote their fundraisers at this stage. He’s privately talked to hundreds of Ghazzawis and looked at their IDs, and he was the only person doing it for a while (a very small handful of other Palestinian users on here were doing it, but they’ve also gotten overwhelmed and stopped). When he was in Gaza, Ahmed was displaced multiple times, left sleeping in tents or on the streets while in active physical danger, starving, forced to drink unsafe water, and often sick. It’s not an exaggeration to say that his body and mind have been pushed to the limit. When he told me he’s depressed all day after doing this work while attracting a ton of negativity, I told him he’s allowed to stop for the sake of his own health, because frankly he needs to focus on his physical recovery. There’s nothing selfish about that, it’s not sustainable for him to be doing this, particularly not when he’s still under the immense stress of his brother and other relatives remaining in Gaza and relying on him for help.
Since I know people will ask: I currently don’t know of anyone on tumblr who still vets fundraisers. Everyone I know of who did has had to stop. I don’t know about the inner workings of Operation Olive Branch, but they seem to be one of a few collectives with enough members to distribute this work. It IS work, and those of us who have tried to do it have done so with a low failure rate (el-shab-hussein and nabulsi’s spreadsheet had over 200 entries and they misidentified a scam as legitimate ONCE). I hope everyone will be more considerate towards the people at collectives like OOB.
This has always been a matter of personal discretion. The vetting process some users tried to implement on here is meant to help people who want to help and accept the risk of offering aid to strangers. If you don’t trust bloggers who’ve been proudly Palestinian on this site for years, that’s up to you—genuinely, it’s fair to think “I don’t know this person and I don’t know what standards they’re operating on.” In the future, anyone who has such concerns should consider asking good-faith questions to the people involved and to converse with them like adults before jumping to accusations, conspiratorial posts, etc.

This is for @actuallytalldumbass but everyone else can look at it too ig... strap in tho, I'm a yapper, warning for ddbs spoilers as well lol
Tumblr media
this one is prob what i would consider the first definitive piece of art I did of Alex that established this sort of look. The braid was a very essential part to how I drew him in the beginning, but these days I almost forget about it entirely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is a goofy idea i had of Alex and Yassen in that cutscene from Silent Hill. Not my best work, and I had never drawn Yassen before when I did this so he looks like about six different people throughout.
Tumblr media
based on a bts photo from End of the Fucking World. love that show. and I think my art teacher posted this on his insta.... don't go looking tho.
Tumblr media
I was reading Devil and the Deep Blue Sea around this time so occasionally the art will have them in what is likely a very inaccurate uniform. Not happy w how Yassen looks, but Alex? Amazing. the little thing in the corner is a note from my friend telling me that Alex does NOT look like that.
Tumblr media
someone i know suggested a propeller hat.
Tumblr media
Read a Sarov-Wins fic. Alex in a commie uniform.... what can I say...
Tumblr media
Alex and Yassen (And My Melody shhhh)
Tumblr media
I started drawing goofy t-shirts. That's a skateboard btw.
Tumblr media
captioned "Meanwhile on Santa Caterina" there was a companion drawing of Julius pretending to be Alex, but I didn't include it.
Tumblr media
The leg in his face prob looks familiar from the soccer drawings.
Tumblr media
nothin to say about this
Tumblr media
what i imagined Alex wearing before confronting Kurst in ddbs
Tumblr media
Alex having a mental breakdown or smth. wearing interesting makeup too, idk why.
Tumblr media
I think my main concern with posting Alex with long hair is less about the non-canon aspect of it and more about how unintentionally feminine my art style makes him look.... I have no problem with it, but I'm not sure about other people haha.
Tumblr media
BONUS YASSEN BAM!

The Arklov Documents :]
I used to have another post like this but it's long since been outdated so I've decided to do another for those interested! (The Arklov Documents is the working name for my current WIP)
Tumblr media
(moodboard for the story.)
Taking place in an unnamed country in an alternate universe where humanity has long since perished to the dangers of the brambles and faeries. The narrative follows three young girls who live in a crumbling castle just beyond the old country, a place safe from the outside world. We follow the main character, a nameless changeling as she spends her time in the company of two humans; Anastacia a girl who can see faeries, and Dieudonne one who cannot. It's a sapphic love story with dynamics similar to 'The Summer That Hikaru Died' and 'Piranesi'. It deals with unrequited love, childhood naivety, regret, guilt, and other themes of growing up. It's a vague retelling of the changeling myth and draws inspiration from other fairy folklore too. Its genres are fantasy and literary fiction.
That's all for the introductions post for now but I will update this more once I put together some character introductions soon :] I hope you enjoyed learning about my story and are interested in hearing more about it.

I'm going to start posting about my main story here and maybe hope that someone on here is interested. I'll have to make a proper introduction post for it and a few moodboards to get the vibes across but I'm really excited to do it just because I've never really shared this version of it with anyone before.

oh my favorite trope? two people who go through something so unique and agonizing and entirely beyond words that they have no choice but to create a bond that transcends all other types of love, thus acting as the sole point of understanding for the other person in a world that cannot fathom what they’ve been through

Hey! I've been thinking, and I'd like to open commissions for: beta reading/critique, editing, and writing commissions. Please comment if you'd be interested in any of this, and DM me if you want to talk about my experience in any of the above skills. I would also like to mention that I already have a writer (and friend) who is commissioning me to beta for them, and I am very excited about that! The writer in question is @wandering-wolf23 aka K. Ramsuer or C. A. Wood. Please reblog if you think any of your followers may be interested in my services. Thank you <3

I feel like my writing is very harsh in the way it describes everything, I have a feeling that it's got to do with my word choices. With me constantly using words that are somewhat cruel in its descriptors, like using old, and trodden down to describe a flower. Which is kind of juxtaposed to the fact I use words like, delicate and fragile in tandem with them. I feel like it comes off a little edgy(?) but not in the gory way because the things I'm writing about are rather light hearted and I've been trying to find a critique group to see what's the real reason but can't find any that aren't catered specifically to people already writing full length novels. I just want to find a small group that does critiques on each other's short stories or some forum or group I can post an excerpt on that someone can check out if they're interested.

Naming my story sect evergreen manor sect and then not giving any of the disciples in it a single shade of green in their outfit is really just iconic behavior when you think about it (I need to come up with a better name for the sect but I'm not too proficient in Chinese (even though I'm literally Chinese)

| Anastacia Arklov |
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's been awhile since I've last posted on here (about 6 months I think) but I'm back with a new one. This was supposed to be one part of a bigger piece but I decided to just go ahead and post it first since it'll probably be another lifetime before I finish the next half. I realize that her facial proportions are extremely off but I've been staring at it for so long that everything ends up blending together so I've left it as it is in fear of messing up more.
For those interested, Anastacia and her counterpart Diuodonee (not pictured here) are protagonists from something I'm working on called the Arklov documents. I intend to make a master post with all the current updates on their story but for now it'll just be snippets of lore paired with concept pieces.
Short summary of their world:
Set in a somewhat post apocalyptic world inspired by the medieval and Victorian times (their outfits aren't very accurate but I'm not really a character designer so this is the best I can do) it is a mostly atmospheric work with very little story or lore and is focused solely on it's themes as well as character relationships. It's far from finished however as I only have a few scraps done that I like. But I intend to take my time with it so there probably won't be anything else on it till the next post.

What tickles me about the first book in the AF series emphasizing Artemis' vampiric appearance is that you could argue that he is one, in a sense. Here is an excerpt from Nina Auerbach's Our Vampires, Ourselves:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Auerbach's musing that "[vampires] are disturbingly close to the morals they prey on [...] vampires are neither inhuman nor nonhuman nor all-too-human" is what strikes me here. In many ways, vampires are monsters that lurk within human bodies and under human faces -- which reflects how although Artemis may appear human (and is, uncontestably, human at the start of the series), his nature puts him at the most remote border of the category. The reaction that many human background characters have to Artemis (until ~TOC) is to shudder!
For example, in AF, you have the following:
“Nguyen had heard the name Fowl before—who hadn’t in the international underworld?—but he’d assumed he’d be dealing with Artemis senior, not this boy. Though the word “boy” hardly seemed to do this gaunt individual justice.”
Then, in TEC:
“The waitress scurried to the kitchen, relieved to escape from the pale youth [Artemis] at table six. She’d seen a vampire movie once. The undead creature had the very same hypnotic stare. ”
Artemis is equally ill-fitted to human society as he is to fairy society. It's true that in the first book, Artemis plays up what makes him unsettling to give off that impression of having something powerful and monstrous barely contained beneath a feeble human exterior. The only way for him to command respect as the current heir to the Fowl name is to imply through behavior that appearances are not what they seem; to imply that despite his age, he is of equal importance and power to his (presumed) late father. But Artemis' strangeness transcends performance. He is, by nature, uncanny to those who receive him.
This is what Sigmund Freud says of this quality in his essay The Uncanny (trans. David McLintock)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But Artemis' vampirism goes beyond character, it is also behavioral. If he is a vampire, what does he vampirize? Artemis is, to put it bluntly, skilled at being the heir to a criminal empire. The Fowls have sustained themselves by draining the world around them of wealth the second they came into existence. And how did they come into existence? By stepping onto the shores of Ireland during the Anglo-Norman invasion! We aren't given much in the way of lore for the Fowls, but they are implied to be old money. That historical power, in turn, implies at least some sort of relationship to British colonial activity in Ireland.
Further, the Fowls have maintained their power over the years by leeching off of the physical power and protection offered by the Butlers. Until Colfer starts allowing Butler's character to grow beyond his employment, his dynamic with Artemis is weirdly reminiscent of a vampire and familiar; the world that Butler gives Artemis access to isn't the day, but rather the adult world. When Artemis' parents are out of the picture in the first book, the only reason Artemis is able to "prey" upon the People is because Butler acts where and when Artemis cannot.
Not to mention -- and I say this with love -- Artemis can be a bit of an energy vampire. He delights in antagonizing, he relishes in drawing out a triumph over an enemy. For example, by the second book, Artemis has driven a handful of school-provided therapists to quit from how drained their interactions with Artemis left them; Artemis is remarkably good at teasing out what would get under one's skin the most.
There's also the matter of Artemis draining some of Holly's/No1's/Hybras' magic in TLC. Although there isn't a scene in the series of Artemis drinking blood, I think that theft of magic can invoke a similar effect in Auerbach's framework.
