week 13
This week is the last week of the semester. This week I will revisit my two projects for the final revision.
The first project: I didn't make a lot of changes to the project this week. I just balanced the color of the screen again in black and white. And to ensure that each special effect appears at the right time, I am quite satisfied with this project, because sue's video matches the style of my partner.
The second project: This week I still made a relatively large modification to the second project. I adjusted the order of some videos in it. And added some special effects to make the video richer. Although the final result did not meet my expectations, I learned a lot in the process.
Looking back on this semester, the difficult part for me is finding partners and communicating with them. I spent a long time looking for partners in the early stage, which made me waste a lot of time. My partner and I cannot communicate in time, which is a pity for me. I also learned a lot this semester. Darrin and Shaun were very serious about providing us with knowledge and answering questions. It provides solutions to many problems that I will encounter in future work. In the 12-week class, many video editing workers were invited to our class. They shared a lot of experience with us, some video editing ideas, how they started to make videos, how to integrate their ideas and creativity into their own works. Because this is the first time I have worked with someone to edit a video, there are also many regrets. But I believe that the study this semester will be of great help to my future work and study. Thanks again to my two mentors Shaun and Darrin for their help.

week12
Nick and Sue Healey joined our course this week to give feedback on our course.
Project 1: Sue Healey and Darrin gave me feedback that more emphasis needs to be spent on switching between nature and the city.I found a blogger who made a PR tutorial through searching, and added a lot of transition effects to my project. Through splitting and screen splitting. By adding these screen effects, the video looks more interesting and more consistent.
Project 2:I was troubled by this project. On Monday, Nick gave me negative feedback. There is almost no editing, just editing the material together. In the next few days, I have been thinking about how to express the content of this project. My work on this video this week is to connect it in series, mainly using overlapping methods, followed by some picture-in-picture methods, and some blurry picture special effects. I may make some slight adjustments to the order of the video material next week. The picture below is some special effects I used in the video.

week11
During this week, I felt quite troubled. After I got feedback from Darrin and Shaun, my second project wasn't clear. And the tone of the picture is not uniform, should be their black and white color balance adjustment. During this period, I watched a Chinese film called "Me and my hometown" (which is now on show). A segment of the film is composed of many personal videos and then selected from them, which can become a good idea for me.
I thought I needed a video to connect the dots. I reorganized the content again, hoping to have a good effect.

week10
In this week's study, I added a lot of special effects into my video.
Project 1, I added the special effect of ghost in the part of character dance. This idea comes from a music video. The dance of the characters and the special effects of the ghost are perfectly integrated.
Project 2. In project 2, I added a lot of special effects and a lot of transitions. Darrin's suggestion is to turn everything black and white, which I think is a good idea. It would be a little strange if the black and white picture suddenly changed to the color picture.
There will be more changes to the video after we get feedback next week. I think the content of project 2 still needs to be changed.

week 9
Through the feedback from my mentor on my second project last week. Darrin's feedback is that some materials and videos do not match the themes they want to express, such as dancing. If you want to express sad emotions. The dancing material looks very happy. Shaun's feedback is that more material is needed and the idea of editing is not clear.
So this week I will mainly watch more material and make a change to the material of Project 2. Diana made some changes to her voice work. She removed a lot of sound effects. Such as the sound of clocks, heartbeats. Added the sound of rain. I didn't find the raining clip in the ACMI collection. So use the seaside picture instead.
Next week I will email Shaun to ask him to give feedback on the visual aspects of my two projects. Hope to get some better ideas.

week8
In this week, I mainly work on the second project that I collaborated with Diana. Only minor changes were made to the first project.
For the first project, I also added some ripple effects at the end. And added a picture that echoes the beginning and the end. Diana also made more sound effects for this project.
For the second project, my partner Diana hopes to present a somewhat sad video. Her voice works are mainly piano music. My idea is to make a video with memories and separations. Because there are many similar videos in ACMI's collection, I spent a lot of time looking for materials to draw on. My idea is to add some special effects of noise to make the picture show the effect of memories. This is the inspiration I got from the works of Charles Edward Hayes.
I am only roughly editing my own video content, and I will make further upgrades and changes after I get feedback next week.

week 7
Through this week’s study, I made most of the changes to my video content.
According to the feedback received from teachers and classmates last week, they felt that they didn't know what the video was saying, and the meaning they wanted to express was not clear enough. I think this may have a big problem with the editing of my material. I have divided my video into two parts, one is urban scenes, and the other is natural scenes. I divided their system into a few pieces and used them to connect them together. This will not give the audience a very confusing feeling.
Regarding the survey this week, I watched a lot of dance videos and music videos. I got inspiration from a video by Guillaume Néry, which shows people dancing in the water. The combination of human dance movements and the softness of water is perfect. I have an idea to add a distortion special effect to a piece of dance material in my video. The distortion of the ripples in the picture can make the video more interesting.
I will get more feedback next week to make changes to my editing.

Week 6
I showed my first assignment to teachers this week, but the feedback I got was not ideal. The teachers thought that the subject I wanted to express was not clear enough, and the audience would not understand what the video wanted to express. Most of the surveys I have done are about how to edit the video and how to beautify the video instead of how to reflect my theme.
For the video content, because the theme of choosing people and environment does not make it easy for me to make a storyline, I hope that the content of the entire video is like a collection of human and nature. What brings the audience is some beautiful pictures and comfortable mood. But in order to make the video more concise, I hope that when the video content is rich, the number of video materials can be appropriately reduced to maintain the simple style of the entire video.
At the beginning of the video, I intend to use a video of hands and eyes as the beginning, and I want to end the final segment with a type of video (the first video appears in the city) to form an echoing effect. In Sub Urban's music video Freak, the editing technique of echoing from the beginning to the end is also used. This work also gave me some new ideas. I can use some surrounding vignetting and retro noise to beautify my video. Zooming in and out of the video screen will also become a new idea.
The next week is mid-break, I will complete my first video and give it to my music partner. I will get feedback from the teacher during the week of the reopening of classes and make improvements.

Week 5
After completing the first homework evaluation this week, students need to upload their work to Team to get feedback. In the first version of the video, I used some unauthorized material. After re-editing, put the work in the team discussion again.
After reading the works of other students, I came up with some new ideas. I got some inspiration from Wonjun Kim's work "Glitch". I can add some malfunctioning special effects to switch the video. In order to express the relationship between human beings and the environment, I got some inspiration from Sue Helaey's other works. His works mainly combine characters and some urban buildings. I will add some pictures of urban buildings to the video and combine them in an overlapping manner.
In addition, I will speed up most of the videos, because Diana made a heartbeat background sound effect for my video. I think this is a great idea. And most of the video speeds in the material video (city-Sue Heleay) I used are too slow, so I want to perform a speed-up process on them.
Through this week's study, I got a lot of inspiration from other people's works and brainstormed them. Through the feedback of others, I also know that I have not done well enough in many areas, and many areas need to be improved.

Week 4
This week is mainly about talking with my partner Diana about what we should do.Diana got the vibe of home kitchen sounds, like glass, water, Glass Braking, crackling and piano music behind it
According to her idea, I decided to use the videos in ACMI for editing, and the pictures were mainly based on the dialogue of characters or indoor scenes.
I want to use some quiet or repressed background music. Many scenes in Sue Helaey's works are a person dancing in the dark, which inspired me to find some weird scenes and fragments of people's life in the city as my material.

Week 3
Week 3
This week I did a video using Richard Grant's, a simple cut of a rough draft. I tried out a piece of music with a strong rhythm as the background and edited it according to its rhythm.
When I showed my draft to my classmates and teachers, the feedback I got was: 1. A lot of repetition in the picture will seem a little boring. 2. You don't have to deliberately follow the music. 3. Don't know what the video clip is trying to say。
With this feedback, I will improve my work 1. Add more different materials and special effects in order to increase the richness of the picture 2. Decide what you want to express (want to express the relationship between the city, society and people, etc.)

Weekly studio blog(week2)
About the second week of study, I read a lot of materials provided by the tutor. The ones I'm most interested in are the PRELINGER ARCHIVE COLLECTION, Richard Grant, and Sue Helaey's videos. These are three videos in a very different style, one in black and white, one in a very modern style, and one in a very human line style.
Because of reading too much material, the ideas in my mind were all in a mess at first. Then I began to organize, first pick out the material I like. Then pick out two or three favorite styles from these favorite materials, because I want to try to edit different types of videos.
After a certain direction, I started to look at my material over and over again. As you watch it, think about what kind of video you can cut out of it. When I first started watching, I turned the music on. Later, I found that listening to the original music had a little influence on my editing ideas. Finally, I turned off the music and watched the video.
My first thought came from Richard Grant's video, which had a great beat. My idea is to take the video Death Is Only A Dream as the main material and add some special effects, such as dynamic lines and wave points. About music, I want to use electronic music style or some pop music with a strong rhythm.

My second idea comes from The work of Sue Helaey, City as Portrait Gallery. After watching this video, I want to make a video that shows a person who wants to express his or her emotions. People dancing on a black background, like people's inner feelings. But the person who dances in the real scene is in a busy life and wants to express his emotions. Based on the video, I might add some hand-drawn animations of human lines and some color blocks. The style of the music is supposed to be weird, dark, or depressing.
