Shoutout to all aplatonic aro’s who have gotten such trash over them recently. You are valid and awesome. Your experiences and labels matter. And no one gets to decide how you should identify. Keep on rocking!

also there’s this whole aros should be quiet because we’re not oppressed. which is true, there are no systems built around aromanticism because no one knows it exists. what we have is a pervasive cultural emphasis on (heterosexual) romantic love as the means to live a fulfilling life. what we have is a culture that defines success as a nuclear family. what we have is a narrative of dehumanizing those who cannot love. what we have is a hierarchical view of relationships where romance sits at the top. so no that’s not oppression. but it is incredible social disenfranchisement that does lead to discrimination.

stop this idea that people can’t be happy without romantic love, that people are empty if they don’t have a romantic relationship, that people need to have romantic love to have a full life, it’s not just untrue and supports the pressure and unreal expectations that society puts on people’s lives, but also invalidate and erase aromantic people, just stop

‘Being in love is what makes us all human! It is what binds us together!“
I chuckle menacingly as I stand up from my seat in the back of the room. "You’ve found me out, it seems.” The room is filled with people’s affronted gasps, with people standing up so quickly their chairs clatter to the ground.
“Impossible!” They shout fearfully.
“Foolish mortals! I rejected my humanity long ago!” With a wild cackle and a toss of my cape, I dive out the window with a crash of breaking glass and escape into the night to satiate the bloodlust that has replaced my desire for romantic affection.

paragrin replied to your post “Hi! So, ace people have this rad black-ring to show their asexual...”
Wasn't it on the left, because ace was on the right??
I’m pretty sure it was decided to be on the right. If you’re an aroace, you can stack the rings!

Hi! So, ace people have this rad black-ring to show their asexual pride, but do aros have the same kind of thing? I miss it in my life.
Yes, we do! The community has pretty much decided that a white ring on the right hand middle finger is a symbol of aromantcism.

I made a video explaining key parts of the aromantic spectrum, and what arospec is all about. I felt that it’s a part of LGBTQIAP that isn’t talked about enough, and I wanted to do something about it.
Please reblog for awareness!

Shoutout to the arospec people living up to the stereotype Shoutout too the cold arospec people who feel like they shouldn’t be Shoutout to the commitment-phobic arospec people who feel like they’re just contributing to negativity Shoutout to the stoic and uptight arospec people who feel like they’re holding the community back Shoutout to the arospec people living up to the stereotype There is nothing wrong with you, and you are not holding us back. That’s just how you are, and it’s fine. Being a stereotype is not a problem; the problem is when people use stereotypes against us to justify their own arophobia. You are not the problem. Arophobes using any opportunity to justify their own bigoted opinions are the problem

Shout out to asexual and/or aromantic spectrum autistic people who feel like they are contributing to a stereotype with their identity. Your identity is valid and doesn’t need to be changed. Continue embracing your identity. You are amazing!
