aromantic and asexual terms you may or may not know
this isnt an exhaustive list, feel free to add more or correct me if im wrong!
ace: short for asexuals (experiences little or no sexual attraction)
aro: short for aromantic (experiences little or no romantic attraction)
aroace: short for aromantic asexual (note: not all aces or aros are aroace)
allo: short for either allosexual or alloromantic (opposite of aro/ace; experiences sexual/romantic attraction)
demiace: demisexual (can’t experience sexual attraction without a strong emotional bond being formed)
demiaro/demiro: demiromantic  (can’t experience romantic attraction without a strong emotional bond being formed)
grayace: grayasexual (only experiences sexual attraction in certain circumstances or very rarely experiences sexual attraction)
grayro/grayaro: grayaromantic  (only experiences aromantic attraction in certain circumstances or very rarely experiences romantic attraction)
ace of spades: aroaces
ace of diamonds: demiaces (may also be used by demiaros)
ace of clubs: grayaces (may also be used by grayaros)
ace of hearts: alloaces (may also be used by aroallos)
sex-repulsed or sex-averse: an ace who is disgusted by/doesn’t like sex
sex-indifferent: an ace who doesn’t mind sex or has no opinion on it
sex-favorable: an ace who enjoys sex. they may not seek out sexual relationships, but still enjoy it if they do engage in it, or they may seek out sexual relationships despite not experiencing sexual attraction
romance-repulsed or romance-averse: an aro who is disgusted by/doesn’t like romance
romance-indifferent: an aro who doesn’t mind sex or has no opinion on it
romance-favorable: an aro who enjoys romance (either for themselves or in media). they may not seek out or desire romantic relationships, but still like the idea of romance or seeing romance in media, or they might seek out romantic relationships despite not experiencing romantic attraction.
queer/quasiplatonic: blurring the lines between different types of attraction, something different from being friends or romantic partners. quasi is for those who don’t like the term queer.
QPR: queer/quasiplatonic relationship
QPP: queer/quasiplatonic partner
aspec: used usually to mean aromantic and/or asexual spectrum, but can also be used just to mean asexual spectrum (i personally use it to refer to anyone on either or bothspectrums)
acespec: people on the asexual spectrum
arospec: people on the aromantic spectrum
aphobe: you know what homophobic means? that’s this, but for aspecs. like homophobic, it can be used to mean specifically one identity (asexual/acespec) or the entire community (all aspecs)
acephobe: specifically against aces
arophobe: specifically against aros
aroflux: orientation (or intensity of their aro-ness) changes, but is usually aro or stays on the aro spectrum.
aceflux: sexuality (or intensity of their ace-ness) changes, but is usually ace or stays on the ace spectrum.

you’ve heard of ace of spades, but consider this..
we all know the ace of spades is an asexual’s favourite card (/hj), but there’s other cards we could use, too. you might not already know, but..
ace of spades is for aroaces!
ace of diamonds is for demisexuals!
ace of clubs is for grayaces!
ace of hearts is for alloromantic aces!
but consider this: we use the other cards as well.
joker for general aspecs (anyone on the aro or ace spectrum)
jack for gnc aspecs
king for male/masc aspecs
queen for female/fem aspec
we could also extend the ace cards to being used for both aces and aros? (ace of diamonds for demisexuals/demiromantics, ace of hearts for alloaces/aroallos, etc.) maybe a specific colour could be used to specify romantic, sexual or both (seeing as decks usually come in blue, red, and black)
and maybe we could find a card for aro/aceflux peeps. :]
im open to any suggestions, i just think it’d be neat if we stole used the other cards and made playing cards in general ace/aro culture. i personally really like the idea of us using the joker card in prticular since most aspecs have an A+ sense of humour (get it) and like jokers, we’re seen as sort of the lowest class, but we’re actually incredibly valuable to society and our communities.

folks on the aro and ace spectrums who fall in between ace/aro and allo are still valid aspecs.
demisexuals, demiromantics, grayasexuals, grayromantics, aroflux aspecs, aceflux aspecs, those who just identify as “on the spectrum”, and anyone else who isn’t absolutely asexual/aromantic.
reblog if you agree.

just shout out to us. we’re worthy of love, no matter what form we find it in.

in a society where sex and romance is so deeply engrained and normalized, and you’re viewed as abnormal if you’re not into those, it’s hella cool to be aroace.
it is so cool to be aroace
like it is just so cool to not feel attraction i think!

we should start reblogging this w our favourite touch-averse character
mines virgil sanders
reading about a character who's touch averse and slowly learns to trust this one person about it & even while accepting his feelings for him, he still struggles with touch but slowly let's him touch his face, neck, chest and so on... is so special to me as an aromantic touch-averse person. Yes, this is about Andrew Minyard 🥺😭.

You can’t normalize being “alone and single,” then fail to support aromantic and asexual people. It’s not possible to normalize things that aromantic and asexual people already deal with, while alienating us at the same time. That’s not how normalizing things work. If you want a system that values “unpartnered” individuals by providing them the financial, physical, emotional, etc. support they need to thrive, you can start by valuing aromantic and asexual people who have been advocating for this for forever.

As a sex repulsed ace I really think sex favorable aces deserve more representation/visibility. I really don't think we sex repulsed aces should be getting all the rep and we definitely shouldn't be seen as the only "version" of ace. This goes for aros who date as well (I am one of them). You sex favorable aces are so cool and valid, y'all deserve so much better
