Something to be said

Hey there. I know this isn't much of a big deal but I'll be switching accounts, from this one to a new some soon/tomorrow

I have kinda lost connection with this one, it was supposed to be a Deacon mainly blog but I just couldn't manage that unfortunately. Is ant the WHOLE Court to be included. So..tomorrow comes a new account. I hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone. I don't know who cares about this change, but still. Better to say something rather then nothing!

I won't put any tags as to not clutter anything, so..I guess that's it .

This what it is like on board an East-Indiaman from the 1730’s. This is a replica of the Götheborg, based in Sweden,  launched in 1738, sunk in 1745. East Indiamen were used as traders and slavers- the most famous being Blackbeard’s “Queen Ann’s Revenge”. These are photos from  between 2012-2015. With all luck and hope, we will return to your regularly scheduled program next year, and venture to China, recreating the original route of Sweden’s trade to Guangzhou, now known as Canton.

Armada Mask Analysis Part 1: Deacon

Okay so I just posted about this but since I finished hw early I’m gonna treat myself to an analysis of the Pirate101 Armada Elite masks bc That’s What We Do in this household.

Starting with Deacon.

Deacon has a simple Bauta mask. In the Carnival of Venice they’re usually simple masks, worn by both men and women who want to remain anonymous. They’re often worn with a hat and cloth surrounding the neck, as we see with Deacon.

These are often relatively gilded, so Deacon’s NOT being decorated seems like a surprise. He is an Armada Elite, after all, does he not deserve a special mask? He does. However, what distinguishes his mask is not gilding, which would inappropriate for a Spymaster, but its shape. Deacon is one of two Armada troops with a true Bauta mask, and is the only one with no decoration whatsoever. While regular Armada soldiers have masks with little or no decoration, their masks are all either Volto masks or hybrid masks.

Deacon’s importance comes from the fact that his ungilded mask is the only true-to-form, not a hybrid, mask. So while he may not appear that decorated in terms of his companions, he does have his way of standing out.
