so I didn’t really know I could be happy. weird. it’s purely circumstantial, but I'm enjoying it nonetheless. I wish I could be happy like this even when the circumstances aren't my favorite. I know I can, cause joy of the lord and all that, but it’s a lot lot lot harder than it seems. you think, oh, just go read the Bible, you’ll find joy, but it’s hard. and it seems different than the way I feel now. you know, come to think of it, I think that’s because they’re two different things. I think happy has to do with something going on around you (it’s an emotion), and joy has more to do with peace, acceptance, and contentment (more like a state of being). So I don’t need to feel discouraged that I don’t feel happy all the time because what I’m looking for is joy, not happiness. Happy is good, but joy is more stable and godly. I hope I can grow and learn enough so that joy is easily reached when I need it, instead of being something I have to purposely go and get. Although maybe it’s the act of seeking joy that is the most important. When we go to God for a reason and seek him out. That’s a good thing. Maybe it’s that I want to be so strong and mature in my faith that joy is part of me as opposed to something I have to reach for. But even if that doesn’t happen in the way I like or in the timing I’d prefer, I know that God has a plan for me, and it’s way way better than anything I could think up on my own, thank goodness. For now, I’ll work with the happy I have because of my boi and reach for joy when I need it.
