The Next Generation

over the past few days we've been brainstorming a few "second generation" characters with our partner in our shared canon

from R to L: Lily Kuroyanagi de Lacroix (daughter of Shura Kuroyanagi and Daisy Ordarian de Lacroix); Borea Kambara (daughter of Corona Rivers and Viicara "Masako" Kambara); Kenoma J. Northstar (doll "daughter" of Lycoris Tyranado and Tyri Northstar) and Mink Moldune (niece of an old friend of Shura's who hangs out with them)

Sometimes I think about Hythlodaeus existing as part of Zodiark for so long, being the first to go of a trio of people who intended to live and die together, people he gave his everything to, and then returning to his senses and moving on after 12000 years of stasis

And despite all those years passing, getting to reunite with the souls of those two dear companions and maybe even fulfil the promise of returning to the Star by their sides after all

But Emet-Selch is twisted by millennia of grief and anguish, warped into a villain by a desperation to restore that which he lost, and Azem was sundered, soul split and reborn a thousand, thousand times, another person entirely

Of course he is not a negative person, and he - better than anyone - can see that they are not gone. Emet-Selch’s actions prove that he has not lost himself entirely despite all he has been through, and even though the Warrior of Light is not Azem, they still carry their legacy, and the parts of Azem that were so fundamental to their self that they were burned into their very Soul

But even so, they are undeniably different in a way that would be clear to anybody who had known them as intimately as Hythlodaeus had. How must that feel, reuniting with the people you loved so deeply and learning that they have changed so much while you have remained exactly the same

I haven't seriously touched GPose before this year. I've only found the joy and courage and excitement in this new hobby, after I've been helped along by so many people! Looking forward to knowing more of you, thank you so much for sharing your love 💕

I did not originally think of the Lionhearts as lion dancers. Halfway through the year I was confronted with the question of, "am I really creating from a place of enjoyment, or am I just going through the motions?" I spent a good few months reconnecting with how and what I enjoyed about my hobbies. Digging into my history, I realized that I didn't have to cut off my roots in order to survive so far away. Burakh and Vira were characters I had made when I was about 13 and looking to make friends, and I hope to show some love for where I came from, too.

Burakh and Vira have grown so much over just a few months. They did not start off lion dancers, nor so close to each other, much less shards of the same Azem, Zagreus. Huge shoutout to Oneiroi, without whom I really wouldn't have explored GPosing and plogons seriously.

Along the way, so many people held open the door and said 'welcome friend!' Thank you @pointyhatspointyears, @iron-sparrow, @tsupertsundere, @verysmallcyborg, @paintedscales, @sand-seeks-sun, @archaiclumina, the community of FFXIVWrite and FFXIVSwap 💖

Yeah, wow, what a change indeed. Yeah, Gaea used to have the M-Auri body! And, y'know, I did what I could with it, but then a partner suggested fanta'ing them to Viera and realistically we haven't looked back since then.

Especially as more and more piles of backstory piled on and further fleshed out the character. (Hey, did you know that they were originally gonna be a shard of Loghrif? What a strange point in time.)

(Truthfully, personality-wise, they've gone from being Ianthe Tridentarius to Bayonetta in the course of a year+ of playtime. That's character development, babyyyyy!)
