i do firmly believe that if your ffxiv starting city was ul'dah you have zero excuse for believing all lalafells are naive children. like that's just willful ignorance and a complete inability to accept contrast. i also believe that if you've played more than like 10 hours of ffxiv you have no excuse but very specifically ul'dah slams you in the face with like five separate lalafells that all occupy wildly different archetypes and none of them are "child". well maybe nanamo. but are you fucking kidding me? momodi is the greatest mafia donna thanalan's ever seen and she is one of the first like three people you meet!!!!!!

FFXIV Write 2024: Bar

(oh hey, kind of on theme with the last few days!)

The warm beach sun was making it unpleasant to be outside.  Unless you were under shade, which thankfully Flidais was.  She was in the yard of her girlfriend's new property in the Mist.  A small cottage to be converted into a tavern.  She had offered to help build the furniture needed to fill the place, and also to help serve drinks when open.  

The increased heat finally became a bit too much, so she unzipped the top of her coveralls.  With a quick tie of the sleeves around her waist she resumed her work.  Carefully she took the lumber she’d been measuring and cutting and began to secure them together.  Darksteel Rivets kept them in place as she got the base of the bar’s counter finished.  

‘There,  I’ll have to move this inside and finish with the rest of it there.  Otherwise it’ll be too heavy to move.’  she thought to herself, rising to her feet and stretching.  It was good timing because right at the moment the tavern’s listed owner stepped outside

“Oh that’s looking GREAT!”  Shura Kuroyanagi, Au Ra mercenary and one of Flidais’s girlfriends exited the door.    The shorter woman turned her head to examine all the construction and blueprints, her eyepatch covering her glass eye, she squinted at the hot sun.  Flidais beamed, then gestured to the scattered wood and tools.  She pointed to the bar then raised her hands to sign 

[Help me move inside?  I can finish once there]  Shura nodded and took one side.  From there it was easy work for the two of them to carry the base through the doors.  They careful positioned the base where it needed to go and lined it up.  Flidais gave a firm nod, then pulled Shura into a side hug as she pointed and finger spelled her plans [Kegs, taps here.  Water line here, stools here]  Shura grinned in response, then nodded to the already built stools stacked in one corner.

“Thank you again for helping with this.  When our Benefactor had this idea I was initially a little worried, but it’s really coming together!  I can’t wait to get this place open.  Start serving people.”  She stretched up, placing a kiss on Flidais’s cheek.  A blush as pink as her hair spread across her cheeks and Flidais tugged at one ear shyly.  She took a step back and was about to sign again when a faint bell like sound echoed the room.

A glowing light shot out of a small door hanging on the wall, coalescing into a red haired winged figure.  Feo Ul, King of the Pixies of Il Mheg, and Benefactor providing funding for the Glorianda slid through into our world

“There’s my beloved saplings!  Hard at work on this new venture and home for dreams are ye?”  Shura and Flidais bowed, an instinctive response from their time spent serving the Pixie King.  Flitting and exploring the pixie darted about the room, then they frowned “is this it?  Lots of sitting and not much else?  Where be the drinks?  The counter to lean upon and flirt shamelessly with a pretty young lass?”  Flidais pointed to the base of the bar, then her hands moved to respond.  Primarily out of habit, Feo Ul seemed to be able to read her mind.

[Still being built my beloved beautiful branch, this is just the start]  she held up her hammer and tools, then mimed.  With a dejected sigh the little prankster flew over and sat upon Shura’s shoulder, giving her horns a gentle bonk.  

“Well it cannae be helped.  I plan on visiting myself once all is set and ready!”  Shura and Flidais shared a glance, unsure exactly what they meant by that.  In this smaller form?  Or did they have some other plan?  However before they could voice their questions the Pixie King spoke again, pointing directly at Flidais

“What I really came to ask, is when are ye two going to grant me a wee branch of yer own!  I want to see a wee bairn!!!”

Despite having her connections to the Fae, Shura Kuroyanagi had persuaded the King of the Fae to let her age gracefully rather than be totally youthful forever - mostly on account of being surrounded by cool older women when growing up, and wanting to be like them. Age hasn't slowed her down in the slightest.

saw lots of alt-designs that were "my XIV OC, but significantly older" and we ended up conceptualizing one for a hypothetical Old Shura
