@arianagrande:  thank u to everybody who supported this song, this cause and made this happen. we love uuuuu so much. 🤍 there’s so much to celebrate today. 🤍 however, i would like to say a few things. anyone who knows me or has followed me for a while knows that numbers aren’t the driving force in anything i do. i’m grateful to sing. grateful to have people who want to listen. grateful to even be here at all. i didn’t have a number one for the first five years of my career and it didn’t upset me at all because from the bottom of my heart, music is everything to me. my fans are everything to me. i promise i couldn’t ask for another fucking thing. so with this celebration today, i would like to address a few things which i don’t usually do (i don’t give my energy to drama or strange accusations normally but this has gone a little too far)…my fans bought the song. JUSTIN’S fans bought the song. OUR fans bought this song (never more than four copies each, AS THE RULES STATE). they are ride or die motherfuckers and i thank god every day that i have them in my life. not just when they fight for us to win (even when i ask them not to as i did this week) but because they’re some of the greatest people i know. sales count for more than streams. u can not discredit this as hard as u try. to anybody that is displeased with their placement on the chart this week or who is spending their time racking their brain thinking of as many ways as they can to discredit hardworking women (and only the women for some reason…..), i ask u to take a moment to humble yourself. be grateful you’re even here. that people want to listen to u at all. it’s a blessed position to be in. i’ve had a lot of “almost number ones” in my career and i never said a goddamn thing because I FEEL GRATEFUL TO EVEN BE HERE. TO WANT TO BE HEARD AT ALL …. and you should feel that way too. congratulations to all my talented ass peers in the top ten this week. even number 3. 🥰 and thank u to @billboard for this honor. and thank u to everybody who helped us raise a lot of money for a very important cause this week. love u all a lot.

september 3rd, 2019 — 6 years of yours truly!! yours truly (originally titled daydreamin) is ariana grande’s debut studio album, recorded between august 2011 and june 2013. ariana began working on the album independently while she was filming victorious and formally started to work on it after she was signed to republic records on august 10, 2011. it was later renamed to yours truly after she decided that the album felt like a love letter she wanted to sign from her to her fans. in summation of the record, she stated, “half of it is a throwback and like very familiar feeling, feel good, vibes of the 90s, and then the second half of it is something i’ve created that’s sort of special and unique and refreshing and wonderful and i love it.” yours truly officially debuted at the top of the US billboard 200 chart with 138,000 copies sold in its first week, becoming grande’s first number one album as a solo artist. this made ariana the fifteenth female artist ever, and the first female artist to have their first album debut atop of the charts since january 2010. yours truly was promoted through ariana’s first ever solo tour, the listening sessions, where fans attending heard the album in it’s entirety for the first time live. the album was preceded by the release of the lead single, “the way”, featuring mac miller, on march 25, 2013. it became a top-ten hit on the US billboard hot 100 chart, peaking at number nine. the second single, “baby i”, was released on july 22, 2013, and peaked just outside the top-twenty of the billboard hot 100 at number twenty-one. the third and final single “right there”, featuring big sean, was released on august 6, 2013, and peaked at number eighty-four on the billboard hot 100.

It’s not my trauma,” she says as tears fill her eyes. “It’s those families’. It’s their losses, and so it’s hard to just let it all out without thinking about them reading this and reopening the memory for them.” She pauses to collect herself. “I’m proud that we were able to raise a lot of money with the intention of giving people a feeling of love or unity, but at the end of the day, it didn’t bring anyone back. I have a lot to say that could probably help people that I do want to share, but I have a lot that I still need to process myself and will probably never be ready to talk about. For a long time I didn’t want to talk to anyone about anything, because I didn’t want to think about anything. I kind of just wanted to bury myself in work and not focus on the real stuff, because I couldn’t believe it was real. I loved going back into the studio with Pharrell because he just has this magical outlook on everything. He truly believes that the light is coming. And I’m like, Bruh, is it, though?
