The Gods we can celebrate on Sabbats 🛞
As a dodecatheist Hellenist, it's important for me to follow the practices of the ancient Greeks. However, paganism offers us the freedom of syncretism.
So, while the Wheel of the Year is first and foremost Celtic and Wiccan, it's close to my heart because it celebrates the power of nature.
So here's a list of the different Sabbats and the Greek gods associated with them, which we can celebrate.
Samhain : Hecate, Demeter, Persephone, Psyche, Hades, Hermes, Dionysus.
Yule : Aphrodite, Gaia, Demeter, Alcyone, Tyche, Apollo, Helios, Dionysus.
Imbolc : Aphrodite, Gaia, Demeter, Artemis, Hestia, Persephone, Athena, Eros, Pan.
Ostara : Aphrodite, Gaia, Demeter, Persephone, Pan, Apollo.
Beltane : Artemis, Hera, Aphrodite, Gaia, Apollo.
Litha : Hestia, Tyche, Nike, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Hephaestus, Zeus.
Lughnasadh : Aphrodite & Adonis (aphrodisia), Athena (panathenaia), Demeter, Tyche, Hera, Hestia, Hephaestus, Apollo, Zeus.
Mabon : Demeter, Demeter & Kora (Eleusis), Tyche, Gaia, Dionysus, the death of Adonis, Hermes.

My favourite daily actions to honour the Gods 🤲🏻
Praying Zeus when it starts raining, especially after a period of drought.
Greet Helios and say a little prayer to him when I wake up (at the first ray of sunlight in winter).
Greet Nyx and say a little prayer to her when night falls (but more often when I go to bed).
Praying to Hermes before and after a trip (I travel a lot because I'm in a long-distance relationship).
Dedicate my singing and writing sessions to Apollo.
Devote my sessions studying the Delphic maxims to Athena.
To thank Her when I act with discernment, give good advice and calm down when I'm angry.
Thanking Aphrodite when I spend time with my boyfriend.
Greeting Gaia and Demeter when I spend time in nature.
Greet Artemis when I go into the forest and when I have my period.

Delphic maxim 095: Rule your wife, my interpretation.
While the Delphic maxims guide us in our daily lives to lead a pious life, some of them are no longer adapted to our times and societies.
It is important to reflect on them in order to better understand and apply them and even more so when they are no longer appropriate for 2024.
To begin, I think we can change this maxim slightly to : "guide your wife/husband". Firstly, because today a woman must be the equal of her husband in the family, but also because it makes homosexual couples invisible.
And now my interpretation :
In a healthy couple, people need to support and help each other in their personnal projects, in the crises they go through, and so on. However, in our society, I think realism in necessary: facing up to life's difficulties, accepting problems and negative emotions, etc.
That's why we, Hellenists, need to guide our spouses. In an institution as sacred as marriage (patronised by Zeus and Hera), we have a responsability to guide them along the path to wisdow and happiness.
A second interpretation could be to guide one's spouse along the path of the Gods, but I find this too influenced by Christianity and the 'duty to preach'.
And you, how do you interpret this maxim?

Khaire!
My pagan name is Arheoia, from the common epiclesis of Athena and Aphrodite Areia and that of Athena Pronoia. I'm 20 and my pronouns are she/her 🤍
I've been a hellenic polytheist for over a year and my practice focuses on Athena and Aphrodite, although I pray to all the Gods.
I discovered religious peace and love through Hellenismos and the Gods and this account will serve as a journal in my practice 🤲🏻
Welcome and feel free to interact, I'd love to chat with you!

Aphrodite Intro Pages
Let us delve into the realm of the Greek goddess Aphrodite, known as the Smile-Loving. She is a divine beauty, Her radiance rivaling that of the heavens, yet Her wrath can be as fierce as the sea She was born from. Emerging from the sea froth of Ouranos' castration, She is hailed as the daughter of Zeus. While She may be a minor deity of the sea, particularly associated with sea foam and creatures like tortoises, turtles, and clams, Her influence extends far beyond, shaping numerous myths and narratives as the Goddess of Passion.
These pages will give you a glimpse into my understanding and reverence of Aphrodite. The content, largely drawn from my grimoire, is a testament to my unique perception and worship of this goddess. However, it's important to note that the altar concept, while significant to me, is a conceptual representation and not a direct reflection of my daily worship. These visuals are crafted with the internet in mind and are highly aesthetic.
55. To Aphrodite (The Orphic Hymns, Athanassakis and Wolkow translation; excerpt)
Heavenly, smiling Aphrodite, praised in many hymns, sea-born revered goddess of generation, you like the night-long revel, you couple lovers at night, O scheming mother of Necessity. Everything comes from you: you have yoked the world, you control all three realms, you give birth to all, to everything in heaven, to everything upon the fruitful earth, to everything in the depths of the sea, O venerable companion of Bacchos. You delight in festivities, O bride-like mother of the Erotes, O Persuasion, whose joy is in the bed of love, secretive giver of grace, visible and invisible, lovely-tressed daughter of a noble father, bridal feast companion of the gods, sceptered, she-wolf, beloved and man-loving, giver of birth and life. Your maddening love-charms yoke mortals, they yoke the many races of beasts to unbridled passion. Come, O goddess born in Kypros: you may be on Olympos, O queen, exulting in the beauty of your face, you may be in Syria, country of fine frankincense you may be driving your golden chariot in the plain, you may lord it over Egypt's fertile river bed. Come, whether you ride your swan-drawn chariot over the sea's billows, joining the creatures of the deep, as they dance in circles, or on the land in the company of the dark-faced nymphs as light-footed they frisk over the sandy beaches, Come lady, even if you are in Kypros that cherishes you, where fair maidens and chaste brides throughout the year sing of you, O blessed one, as they sing of immortal, pure Adonis. Come, O beautiful, O comely goddess, I summon you with holy words, I summon you with a pious soul.

7 Virtues of Hellenism.
Xenia - This is the pillar that signifies hospitality, generosity and reciprocity. It's typically demonstrated in a guest/host dynamic.
Kharis - This is the pillar that signifies appreciation and gratitude. It entails giving to the gods and and expressing gratitude when you receive something from them.
Eusebia - This is the pillar that signifies reverence and veneration towards the gods. It can be translated to 'piety' or 'reverant conduct' meaning that you show respect for them.
Hagneia - This is the pillar that signifies purifying yourself. It entails having moral, perhaps physical too, purity and avoiding miasma where possible.
Arete - This is the pillar that signifies excellence and brilliance. It entails trying to reach your highest potential and this can be in any field.
Sophia - This is the pillar that signifies the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.
Sophrosyne - This is the pillar that signifies self-control and prudence. It involves being of sound mind and remaining balanced, which can further lead to other positive qualities to have.
I hope these are right and that I didn't misunderstand their meanings! Hopefully this is useful to anyone, I certainly enjoyed making the post!
